Liver cancer, or Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), is a common cancer originating in liver cells. When liver cells begin to divide and spread abnormally, it results in liver cancer, a prevalent issue in India. Liver cancer frequently develops in individuals with cirrhosis, with 30% of those with liver damage progressing to liver cancer. This damage can result from excessive alcohol consumption, lifestyle factors, obesity, and diabetes. Additionally, viral infections like hepatitis B and hepatitis C, as well as genetic conditions such as Wilson disease, can also lead to liver cancer.
