കരൾ കാൻസർ എങ്ങനെ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കാം

In this video, Dr Arun Chandrasekharan, a medical oncologist at Aster MIMS, Calicut discusses the diagnosis of liver cancer. Early-stage liver cancer often presents no symptoms. Some individuals may experience pain on the right side or notice a small lump upon touch, prompting a medical visit. Jaundice can also be an initial sign in some patients. In advanced stages, symptoms may include abnormal weight loss, loss of appetite, and stomach infections.
To diagnose liver cancer, a blood test is performed to assess liver function. The presence of high levels of Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), a specific tumour marker, strongly indicates liver cancer. Diagnostic imaging techniques include ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI. Typically, a biopsy is not required to confirm liver cancer, except in cases where AFP levels are normal and CT scan results are inconclusive, in which a biopsy may be necessary to confirm the diagnosis.
