Similar. 2 emergency emails at halftime. I had to give up watching. Came out just as McCormick scored over Manek to go up 3. My wife had me leave when DaJuan Harris stepped out of bounds. Found out they won when she yelled "they won it!". Watching now to see the comeback.

The votes had to be turned in before there were two minutes left on the game clock, so the votes were already cast before he got those two clutch shots to win the game. I've heard from a couple of the voters (which were press there covering the Final Four) that had they been able to cast their votes after the game had ended then McCormick would've for sure gotten the MOP of the Final Four. Ochai was the MVP for the season, Remy the MVP of the post season March and McCormick the MVP/MOP of the Final Four April. At least that's how I see it.

@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT kansas has the most wins in ncaa history yet tied with uconn in titles? duke hasnt been relevant only since coach k took over and they have 1 more. indiana has 1 more. unc has 50% more. uk has 2.5 times more. and ucla? how about ku will NEVER catch them. to have more wins than anyone else yet all the blue bloods are waaaaay ahead means kansas does choke. look up the espy's award for biggest upsets across all of sports. ku was on the list THREE TIMES!!! ALL SPORTS!!!! vcu, bucknell, and uni each year were the biggest upsets in any sport professional or college! ku's titles are underwhelming. up till 3 weeks ago they had 1 more championship than university of san francisco lolololol!!! even self said ku needs to win more. for who the are, for the wins they have, for the all americans they have had, ku has underperformed in the ncaa tournament in terms of championships which is what matters most. sorry bud, facts point to ku being the biggest blue blood chokers. congrats on tying uconn huskies tho which is more known for a women's program!

@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT good stat compilation, fam. What people don’t realize is that Self is such a great coach that his squads regularly get higher seeds than they probably deserve. So the average fan thinks he underachieves because his top seeded teams don’t always make the Final Four but in reality he overachieves almost every single year

Seems they get it wrong every time KU wins the Ship. In '08 Sherron Collins should have been MOP of the Final Four. He sparked the run against Carolina in the semis then reasserted himself when the Heels got close in the 2nd half. Then he was outstanding defensively on Derrick Rose when it was clear Russ Rob couldn't handle him in the final and Collins made 3 or four plays down the stretch including a super-clutch steal and 3 of an inbound play that even made Mario's shot possible in the first place. Film don't lie.

KU MVP for the season Ochai. KU MVP from the start of March Madness through the Elite Eight was Remy Martin. And he actually did win that award. MVP for the Midwest Region is what it was called. KU MOP for the Final Four should've been David McCormick. But the votes for the award had to be turned in with a few minutes left before the end of the game (which makes no sense) and at that point David and Ochai were pretty even as far as the impact on this game and against Nova in the Semi-final. Luckily coach Self made a point to recognizing David and gave him the cut down net to keep for himself.

Every time I rewatch this, I’m more and more amazed by David McCormack’s performance in the last 1:30 of the game. McCormack was absolutely determined to make sure Kansas was going to win this game. Those last two shots made by Big Dave were incredible. He was double-teamed on the first made one. He missed his first attempt. But Dave made sure he was going to get the rebound (which he did….over Bacot and Manek) and score. The second was a bit easier since he was guarded one on one by Manek with Bacot out. McCormack made those two shots look easy, but they were far from easy. I’ve seen so many players miss far easier shots over and over. McCormack should have been MOP without a doubt.

Previous time both schools met: March 24, 2013 (South Regional Round of 32, Kansas City, MO), Kansas trailed at halftime then rallied to win 70-58. While all the attention was on Gonzaga, Arizona, Duke and Kentucky, I had Kansas cutting down the nets because they were the more composed team. As for North Carolina, despite ESPN’s hype over Duke’s size and athleticism, I suspected the Heels would be Kansas’s title game opponent after they got past UCLA. In Bill Self’s first Final Four, Kansas took on then overall #1 UNC. The three Big East teams that Kansas played (Creighton - 2012, Providence - 2014, 2016 and Villanova - numerous times) all have faced the Tar Heels in the NCAAT within a ten year stretch.

Team gets of to a rocky start, loses by double digits to the school's arch-rival. Then turns it around by winnging 14 of 15 games including a gut chekc win at home on Senior night then on the home court of the rival who beat them on the Duke senior night which also COach K's goodbye party. Then a historic run thru the tournament to beat the rival AGAIN to get to the final four, only to lose at the buzzer in the title game. Quite a tale, but we saw it actually happen.
