check out "Handshake with Hell" to hear Alyssa's clean voice....another good one is "Sanctimony" by Kamelot, with both Alyssa, AND Elize Ryd......also, Oscar Palotai, the keyboardist, is married to Simone Simons of Epica......Tommy Karevik has an awesome voice

@@procyonconstellatio Not all of us were MAD about it. It was a GREAT opportunity for Alissa, one of her daydreams as a kid, fully realized. Such a PROUD moment! At least I could not be 'mad' about that. Just a little SURPRISED that AE did not utilize her clean vocals, BUT AE has ALWAYS been Harsh Vocals, they are one of the founding bands of the genre'. If they had clean vocals for Alissa's first album, their own fans would have been out for blood, called them sellouts, etc (that happened anyway; Metal Elitists...what can I say about their penchant for being closed-minded assholes?). Those fans were already mad enough that Alissa had replaced Angela. It did not come out right away that Ang had semi-retired from the position AND had actually hand-picked Alissa as her replacement! So Alissa caught a lot of hate from the older fans until Angela actually told people to pipe down so she could explain it for herself. Once they heard it from her, they were more calm but still bitchy for a while. Then Alissa's second album with AE came along and the fans were a little more receptive (except for the 'sellout' digs that still happen).

If you like Alissa I highly recommend "Thank you, pain" from when she fronted The Agonist. For how early she was doing it, she really did pioneer the cleans and growls, especially in women fronted metal bands. Also her swan lake acapella is something special.
Finally Kamelot! I hope you will stick with it and delve into Roy Khan era Kamelot. So good. But from Tommy era, Under Grey Skies featuring Charlotte Wessels is wonderful.

Yes, I agree more Kamelot and one of my favorite power ballads if from Kamelot with Tommy and Charlotte Wessels formerly of Delain and the song Under Grey Skies. Tommy does duets with other singers so freaking well, but Under Grey Skies is my favorite! Also did you know that Oliver Palotai, the keyboardist for Kamelot, is the husband of Simone Simons of EPICA.
A few points. The first one is that you must react to the Kamelot song "elizabeth i, ii & iii" with theKamelot's first singer Roy Khan . Roy was trained in rock, metal and classical and was a unique singer. And after Roy left the group, the members chose Tommy Karevik as Roy's replacement, which was really a great choice. The second is that the pianist Kamelot is Simone's husband from Epica. And the last thing is to know. roy after leaving the group gave up singing for about 10 years and joined the church as a youth counselor. and about a year ago, after many years, he released a personal album that was completely different.

Roy is a legend in terms vocal ability. Tommy is on his way to become an even bigger legend honestly. Roy has been my favorite vocalist since I got into metal. But Tommy fills his shoes nicely in kamelot
If you want to hear more of Alyssa's clean vocals, the song she did with Nita Strauss " The wolf you Feed" has a lot of her clean vocals.
Kamelot started way back in 1995, but in my opinion they got really good starting in 2000. Roy Khan started with them in 1999, and when he burned out, Tommy Karevik joined in 2012. For more song with Tommy, I'd recommend 'Sacrimony' from 2012 with Alissa and Elize Ryd, 'Insomnia', 'Veil of Elysium', 'Phantom Divine' with Lauren Hart, 'In Twilight Hours' with Jennifer Haben, and the band new 'One More Flag in the Ground'. For great Roy Khan songs, I'd include 'The Fourth Legacy', 'Silent Goddess', 'A Sailorman's Hymn', 'Forever', 'Karma', the Elizabeth Trilogy, 'The Edge of Paradise', 'On the Coldest Winter Night', 'The Mourning After', 'March of Mephisto' with Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir, 'The Haunting' with Simone Simons, 'Abandoned', 'Memento More', 'Ghost Opera', 'The Human Stain', 'Love You to Death'. I know, that looks like a list of ALL the songs, but it's not.
You NEED to see Under Grey Skies Live in Tilburg with Charlotte Wessels. Really showcases what both she and Tommy can do. In a live setting, it’s mind blowing to me…
First discovered Alyssa when she was with The Agonist, before she left to front Arch Enemy. She has a lot of impressive tracks with them, featuring her epic performance range. Check out "...And their eulogies sang me to sleep", "Business suits and combat boots", "Panophobia", or really anything off their first three albums. She is an absolute legend with vocals both demonic and angelic.
Tommy got such an incredible voice! He never disappoints! :D
Tommy has an incredible voice, for sure in my all time top ten. He had another great band before Kamelot, It's called Seventh Wonder, and there's an album called Mercy Falls that is spectacular. The more you listen to it, the more in love you get with the album, but for me the song "tears for a father" is a MUST have to hear in the Tommy's voice production.
the pure JOY you expressed while watching this was the most beautiful thing I've seen in a while. Thank you!
Good reaction. “Sacrimony” live is great. For cleans of Alissa watch “Handshake with hell” from Arch Enemy or “Thank you pain” from the Agonist. Liar, liar is great. Got the album “haven”. Thanks for this reaction.
Yes, welcome to the world of Tommy Karevik. Live he sounds even better, imho. A part from Kamelot (there are great live videos of Phantom Divine, Sacrimony, Under Grey Skies) and Seventh Wonder, I always like to suggest also his performances in Ayreon (like in The Day That The World Breaks Down and Daniel’s Descent into Transitus Medley). The man has the voice of the whole paradise.
this is in my top 3 songs of all time, so im sure this is gonna be an awesome reaction. just such a good song
Great reaction! If you want to see a different side of Kamelot, I suggest you go back to the Elizabeth trilogy with Roy on lead vocals or stay with Tommy and look at Under Grey Skies. All three are my top favorite Kamelot songs and I think you’ll love them.

As a first time listener to this song myself, I totally echoed Julia's reaction as she was watching. What an absolute banger!
I am surprised Kamelot does not get reacted to more. They are so insanely talented and have been blessed with not one, but two absolute vocal powerhouses in Roy Khan and Tommy. For the prior era with Roy Khan I love Ghost Opera and The Haunted (feat Simone Simons of Epica). Or Abandoned, which is one of the most beautiful pieces ever. In the Tommy era...well Liar, Liar is great. One of the others I love is Sacrimony.
This is my favorite Kamelot song, and I knew you'd love it. My preferred clean/growly vocals from Alyssa are on "Reason to Believe" by Arch Enemy. It's proper inspirational. In fact, I'm going to go listen to it now.
Wait... this is your first Kamelot reaction right ? Soooo.... Check out also Kamelot - Elizabeth I, II, III (live). The only complaint I have with the music video is that it cuts parts of the track, and if you are used to the album version it's very jarring.
I would recommend 'Handshake with Hell' by Arch Enemy and 'The Wolf you Feed' by Nita Strauss ft. Alissa to hear some more of Alissas range. Her voice is beautiful and wicked at the same time.
For Alyssa's clean vocals you could definitely check 2 of her Archenemy songs, namely "Handshake with hell" and the lovely ballad "Reason to believe". As for Tommy, as you noticed he's incredibly technical as a singer. Don't remember if you already checked out "The day that the world breaks down" from Ayreon, in which Tommy performs among the eleven main singers and does some really nice flourishes. Remaining on Kamelot, Tommy took over after the previous frontman (Roy Kahn, another incredibly talented singer) left. You could check Sacrimony (ft Alyssa and Elize Ryd), the live version "from the 013", which is also very interesting under the music profile, time shifts and all.
Fun fact: Kamelot sixth studio album is called Epica, and it inspired certain someone to name their band after that album. Speaking of which, Simone Simons is guest to at least three or four Kamelot tracks and is guest again in their upcoming album. The most popular one is the Haunting, with Roy Khan, Kamelot's previous singer. As for Alissa - she is using more of her clean vocals in her previous band The Agonist, and on some other guest appearances such as on Demons in you by Tarja.
Kamelot ft Simone Simons (Epica's frontwoman) - *The Haunting, Live* is another epic colab performance!
If you want an amazing kamelot song, check out the live version of Elizabeth. It's with their old singer, Roy Khan, but equally amazing.

So Glad you finally found Kamelot and heard more from Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy! Kamelot blew my mind the first time I heard them, and Alissa is just amazing. Her recent performance with Nita Strauss in The Wolf You Feed has been top of my playlist lately. It also includes her unique growl along with some clean vocals.
This was great! I would LOVE to hear your reaction to their live performance of "Elizabeth I, II, & III" when Roy Kahn was their singer. Tommy and Roy are both amazing singers in their own right, and I think you will love the emotional nuance in Roy's voice. 🤘
Not that Tommy, and Roy Khan before him, can't carry a song on his own (both of them absolutely can), but their songs with guest vocals always have a little something extra. Some other suggestions: The Haunting (with Simone Simons - this one is with Roy), Phantom Divine (with Lauren Hart), Sacrimony (with Elise Ryd and Alissa), and Under Grey Skies (with Charlotte Wessels).

Guitarist Nita Strauss released a song called The wolf you feed featuring Alissa in which you can hear a lot of her vocals a little bit better.
I love it when someone gets excited as I do when listening to Kamelot. My only request would be, could you do a reaction to Kamelot, but back when Roy Khan was their lead vocalist? the trilogy of songs that makes up "Elizabeth" would be fantastic. or anything off of the Black Halo Album.
Now that you have met the great Tommy Karevick, you must check earlier Kamelot and meet the mighty Roy Khan, an absolutely amazing singer. The "Elizabeth" trilogy is a great place to start :)
Alissa spent ten years singing for The Agonist before joining AE. Her singing in that band was often making use of her cleans as well as the growls. Check them out
Julia! im so glad you arrive at Kamelot, Youre in for an EPIC Discography
Tommy Karevik is such a great singer. No wonder that Arjen Lucassen, Ayreon, often asks him to sing on his albums.
If you like Kamelot I suggest checking out March of Mephisto, The Haunting and Memento Mori from The Black Halo album. It was back when Roy Kahn was still lead but that is my favorite Kamelot album (which Ghost Opera being a *very* close second).
Ok so this is why I watch reaction videos. For videos just like this one! I’ve watched this reaction about 4 times now and it’s just as fun as the first. If you want to hear Tommy be even more agile check out Seventh Wonder - The Light.
0:00 Discord gang newbie, loving it! Looking forward to some growls and screams 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Tommy listened to mostly Pop music when he was a kid, saying that singers like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston likely influenced his style of singing. A classmate of his got him into metal and to play the guitar. Songs like this are why I miss Alissa being in The Agonist because she used clean vocals, which are really good, in addition to her harsh vocals.
Holy sweet baby jeezus!! You actually did it!! Absolutely can't thank you enough for this Ms Nilon, you've made my year! Yeah...Tommy is a friggin' vocal beast! FINALLY we get one of the best musical vivisectionists in here to let everyone else know what we fans have known for years!! Of course we all love how people freak the heck out when they hear Allisa's clean vocals. Many of us knew and a very few of us, if you were lucky enough to be at the Denver Debacle, know her cleans are absolutely Siren worthy. If you know....you know. Her and Elize were phenom's that night. LMAO "How melodious..." hahaha ok Stewie....excellent immitation.
Do more Kamelot!!!!! They have a history of crazy vocalists, been a fan of theirs since 1999.
Gosh, I love your videos so much. Love how honest, uncut, raw, and emotional you are 💜
I love Kamelot! Please do more! And they have more with Alissa too!! Tommy is such an incredible singer.
I appreciate Tommy's agility while maintaining a warmth amidst an otherwise tenor/lead tone/range.
I HIGHLY recommend Center of the Universe and March of Mephisto by Kamelot next! Both are "oldies but goodies", and in the latter you get a 2 for 1 vocal analysis featuring Shagrath's outworldly sound. Also at the time they had another lead singer (Roy Khan).
Strongly recommend checking out the live version of "The Haunting", which showcases Roy Kahn, their previous frontman, as well as a young Simone from Epica (who is married to Kamelot's keyboard player).
Loving the kamelot and the Yoda shirt and of course you and Alissa as well 🤘
Haven't seen you so excited in ages! And somehow it makes me excited too! 😁Ohh, metal scene have many more hidden gems for you...

Thanks Julia!! Check out the new video kzread.info/dash/bejne/dmWOy6ZycsvFn8o.html
Julia’s joy in this video is wonderful to see and experience vicariously.
Alissa was my first introduction to female harsh vocals in 2009 with her previous band, The Agonist. The best showcase of her abilities with both clean and harsh vocals would probably be the closing track on the album Prisoners called 'Revenge of the Dadaists'. That song probably doesn't warrant a reaction video, but it would be cool if you checked it out in your free time. I really miss her cleans 😞
1: I've been on the "Alissa, oh my goodness you're amazing train" since hearing her in her old bad "The Agonist" (way back in the MySpace days) so I completely understand, I'd recommend listening to "Busness suits and combat boots" and "Thank you pain" ... actually, if I remember right, they did a version of "Swan Lake" as well. 2: I highly recommend listening to more Kamelot. They've got a lot of live songs on KZread, so you can see both Roy and Tommy singing (not together, unfortunately). For Roy I'd recommend "The Haunting" (ft Simone Simons from Epica) and "Abandoned" For Tommy, I'd recommend "Sacrimony (Angel of afterlife)" (ft Alissa from Arch Enemy and Elize Ryd from Amaranthe) and "Phantom Divine" (ft Lauren Heart)
Holy SHIT I've been a huge Kamelot fan since high school and have so very rarely seen anyone geeking out over them the way I do! With such a fantastic choice of song too.
this is Alissa's previous group where she also sings with clean vocals THE AGONIST - Panophobia
Try to locate "Denver Debacle" from 2012, where Alissa and Elize Ryd (both guesting Kamelot, which opened for Nightwish) substituted sick Anette Olzon in front of Nightwish. They did a great job having about an hour to prepare for the gig. The next Nightwish gig was Anette's last and guess who flew from Europe to substitute Annette for the rest of the tour.
Tommy's work in Ayreon is stunning as well. If you want to hear a whole can of insanely talented singers.
Damn! Love your reactions when you come in cold to a new sound. Thank you.

Actually, you have heard Alissa before, in your second Arch Enemy reaction, over a year ago. But as a Kamelot fan of about 20 years, I'm delighted that you're reacting to this song. Hi Julia, again here I want to compliment you on your absolutely appropriate physical mojo matching the kind of sound you hear...so fun to watch and I can relate! For example @ 7:24 with the stank faces and your hyperactivity during the solo runs is just spot on how I react as well....never change Julia , the only reactor I can relate to these days
Her clean vocals while she was in Agonist is great too, the sing I like the most was Panophobia by Agonist. Has a pretty good showing off her range. There's a also a sing she did for the game Metal: Hellsinger that has her clean vocals too.
I'm actually shocked that you haven't heard Kamelot?! Oh, you're in for so many treats! ❤❤❤
You have no idea how many masterpieces this band has. The previous singer Roy Khan was equally talented too.
Oh damn, Kamelot!!! I never got why we never get that much of Kamelot reactions/analysis on almost every single reaction channels, because this is one of the most interesting band to react to in my opinion. They're often having guess singers, both their lead singer "Ex and present" are amazing at what they do. They got that very unique style and signature. So unless it's only a copyright claim thing, i just don't get how they're getting ignored that much. Oh sweet Julia you summerchild. You ABSOLUTELY have to listen to "Sacrimony" live version by Kamelot, which besides featuring Alissa again also features Elise Ryd from Amaranthe. There you can REALLY hear Tommy's voice.
As for recommendations: Kamelot: Insomnia. Which is also the prequel to this music video. Alissa's clean singing: probably Thank You, Pain by the Agonist. A fun one 😊
Try listening to her first band : The Agonist - "Thank you pain". The lyrics are freaking cool, and she's acting parts of the evil lawyer vs the good.
It was sooooooo fulfilling to see you having such a great time watching this one... Ohhh, yes. You absolutely NEED to listen to more of Tommy. He is just great. On a side but related note, you might want to go back to Ayreon with "The day that the world breaks down". If you like surprises, you should consider it... Love you, Julia. You are incredible!
I love how both Alyssa and Floor Jansen are very similar vocalists, that went on different paths in music. Alyssa was one of the vocalists that guest sang for Nightwish when former vocalist Annette Olzen was sick and had to miss a show.
If you enjoy melodic-ism and theatrics, you'll enjoy Kamelot a lot ;) I suggest the Elizabeth trilogy live. Great review!
quite funny, your first Jinjer reaction where you freaked out because of Tatianas Growls...now you freak out to Alissas Cleans 😂😂

I love Kamelot because they don't just treat music like a gig they perform, its a true art for them and the performance in of itself, they are what theatre would be if it was lead by metalheads lol
Id love to see more Kamelot on the channel. Absolute classic band.
Check out her previous band The Agonist song Panophobia. It was 2012 but Alissa already were a BEAST . These days Melissa Bony from adInfinitum is singing Liar Liar with Kamelot. Melissa is also a power singer combining harsh and clean vocals.
Ohhh it's been so long since I heard this masterpiece! Alissa so amazing with her clean vocals, in arch enemy she always growls😃
Was my first time hearing clean vocals from her (I knew who she was) and got chills! Also Kamelot is great. Both old and new.
I listen to bands that have really good singers... whether that's really good harsh vocals or really good clean vocals. Kamelot falls into this genre for me... which is why I think I've listened to ALL of their songs, lol. My favorite song of theirs, which might make you cry or at least tear up, is 'Love you to Death'. I highly advise you listen to that one, even if you choose not to react to it on KZread. Cheers!
