KALI AUDIO IN-5 or LP-6v2: which is BETTER for your studio?

Музыка

Hey, all my audio people out there! Another hardware test coming: tis time it's all about Kali Audio. I got a pair of IN-5 andf LP-6v2 to check out which are simply better: 3-way IN-5 with a smaller woofer or maybe a 2-way LP-6v2 with a larger woofer? Let's find out!

I think you should try the IN-8 or LP-8 vs some JBL speakers before buying. Would like to hear how good the speakers are vs what you have used / are using. Also for speaker placement, the narrowness of the IN-5 placement could contribute to the higher frequencies getting bumped. To make it more comparable you can do placement like this - AL BL then AR BR so that the distance between L and R for both speakers are the same.

The Kali 6” double sub woofer is really good, you can switch it off with a foot switch which is really nice. Main problem I have is that I have a very small room so the front firing base ports are a must for me because my speakers are close against the wall. The problem with any near fields is lack of low end representation, in my opinion a sub is a necessity.

I have switched from A7V to LYD-7 and I think these are both better and much cheaper, their only con being the noise. And yeah - the highs were magnificent on Adams, goes without saying, but they also sounded hollow in mid range. Also, having these two made me realize that investing in room treatment is equally important as having monitors you like. I considered Kali Audio IN-8, but seemed like these Dynaudios were a grade higher, and also for nearly the same price when considering a B-stock from Thomann.

I'm thinking of getting the IN8 paired with the adam audio T10s. Similar system to yours. Why did you prefer the IN5 over the 8 its 40$ diference for 3 inches bigger speaker? Is it because the IN 5 is more wattage therefore potentially more power?

Based on a Klippel measurements (found on a specific site), Kali LP6v2 is the best Kali speaker to date, beating their "IN" series. 3ways are usually preferable if low end is needed and theres no sub and/or higher SPL. LP6v2 has roughly the same F3 as IN8 so theres no point going for the latter.

It' very distracting from the live points you are trying to make. In order to make audio points, we really need to hear what you've heard. Demonetization is a problem, sure, but first, make sure casual viewers aren't blowing you off for not being serious enough to have authentic "stimuli & response" going on...

Great video! Love the synths and setup doggins! *sad story alert* Just yesterday I had to let my 1st Gen Kali LP-8 monitors go for a ridiculous low balled offer due to me scrambling to financially compensate for my girlfriend's ongoing medical expenses. (Stage 4 CKD) 'Merica for profit healthcare right?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyway... It definitely FN hurt, however a roof over one's head, love and companionship obviously takes more priority. With all that being said, and since my current workspace is in a modest 2 bedroom apartment? I honestly believe that the LP-8s were probably a bit too much for my space anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also the 1st Gen noise floor issue was definitely noticeable. So please let me try and wrap up this crazy long comment with an honest inquiry if I may? Question: What would you recommend as a placeholder/replacement pair within the just well under $400 range? Kali LP-6 V2? Yamaha HS4 KRK Rokit RP5G4 Personally for me? The brand new "affordable" Yamaha HS3 & HS4 models are really speaking, but the 1 class D powered + 1 passive design, gives me over glorified multimedia speaker vibes. Also, I'm not super keen on rear bass ports and the room placement node issues involved. Anyhoo... OMG this comment was long!!! My bad. My ADD meds obviously just kicked in. Ha! Cheers!
