I just wanted to let you know that your video on the Kali LP6 monitor review is absolutely amazing! The level of detail you provided, from the unboxing to the in-depth features analysis, really stood out to me. Your presentation style is engaging, and I appreciate how you explained technical aspects in a way that's easy to understand. The visuals and video quality were top-notch, making the review not only informative but also enjoyable to watch. It's evident that you put a lot of effort into the production. Yess! I'm excited for the V2 cables review! Also, thank dearly sir for bringing these monitors (and ultimately the V2 cables) to our attention. I shall endeavor to look into these furthers. I am grateful for the information you've bestowed on us mortal viewer. Also, I was looking into possibly getting the (Massdrop) DROP BMR1 NEARFIELD MONITORS, priced at an interesting $130. Drop is known in the audio world for better or for worse, so it will be festinating to see what their expertise creates in their own line of reference monitors... I hope so, at least. Cheers! - 🐧

Hahaha. Hey thanks so much! I’m waiting on info to do the dedicated V2 Cable review. I’ve submitted a list of questions and I’m just awaiting a full response so I can do them justice. There’s a lot that goes into these cables. Once I have everything, I’ll be able to do a proper review. So I expect within the next month. I had not heard of Drop before you mentioned them. But I looked them up. Looks fascinating! Cheap too! Do let me know what you think of them, if you get them! Thanks for watching and for having a great sense of humor! Cheers!

Regarding sending you my thoughts if I ever get the DROP BMR1 NEARFIELD MONITORS... well now that you've brought the Kali Audio version 2 of the LP-6 to my attention... kinda want them instead now, haahahhhAAHh. Years ago, the first pair of speakers that I would consider as reference monitors, are the GigaWorks T40 Series II 2.0 High-end Speakers. Man I tell you, those speakers were great and punched way above its class. It's not like the more serious reference monitors like Mackie or Presonus, but they were great and I love them. Pretty aesthetically pleasing too! They still exist for purchase today. In my dreams, I hope that one day Creative will launch a great successor to it, the T60 perhaps. = ) - 🐧

Hi again. Just wanted to say that I`m super happy with the monitors. Your praise was well-founded. They are way more, I mean way way more than what my requirements are. Did I say way? However, being single I am now unable to make responsible decisions. Then again, being single allows me to live more comfortably with my stupidity. Honestly, `guilt` has become a tumbleweed emotion for me. But honestly, I agree with everything you`ve said, in your review. What I would like to underline was the bass/porting. I was very surprised by the extend of the voicing of lower sound. I mean wow! They are really super super good, grown-up monitors. The guys in the shop were also talking about them and their importance in the monitor market. The only thing that I can gripe about is that I can`t find any front covers for them. They are HOOGE on my desk and despite the absence of my ex-wife`s tongue, I`m worried I might catch them with something sharp. Any ideas?

  • @TheRecordist

Hahaha. Thanks for the awesome message! Do you have the monitors on pedestals? The tweeters should be at ear level for optimal placement. And also, each speaker should be two points of an equilateral triangle with your head at the third point. Does that help? Or are you looking for some type of cage?

@@TheRecordist Hey buddy. Your advice is well founded, of course. Unfortunately, I am only just setting this thing up. I have yet to buy an appropriate chair. That should hopefully be in 2 days time. I have put the wee round stickers on the bases for now but shall be building a shelf for the PC monitor which will leave a space underneath for the DBX 286s. This shelf should be at the right height for the sound monitors. Although I have a pretty good i7 Aspire tower, I seem to be experiencing some popping and clicking (from the processor, I think). I may have to further invest in a Mac book or similar. That has been a bit of a blow, really. I`m running an NT1-A through a Volt 176 and haven`t even wired up the MiniFreak, yet. Always something to do.

Haha. Well thank you very much! But what does sell out mean? If it means taking money from Epidemic Sound or Square Space to take a few minutes out in my video to talk about my sponsor, I absolutely will sell out. Haha. But if it means taking money from a mic company to misrepresent a product then you can be assured that will never happen. I don’t take money from companies to deliver false information. I either like the thing or I don’t. Taking sponsorships that have nothing to do with a product I’m reviewing is totally fine in my books. I need to make a living too! As far as hardware or plugins, yes. I do have some stuff I use. Almost 95% of all my videos are recorded on the MixPre II series of recorders - the remaining 5% are recorded on the Universal Audio Apollo Twin X. In the Apollo, I sometimes use Unison preamps. I stopped using my rack stuff. As for plugins, I use Soothe2 every day, along with Kazrog True Iron and the new channel strip plugin that blew my mind: VoosteQ Model N Channel. You can watch my new review on that one here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p4esxZqJmJa_j7w.htmlsi=9DrLnGmncAGE3usO Hope this helps!

Such a great review! And by coincidence today earlier I've ordered iLoud Micro Monitors (MSRP is ~350 USD for a pair but I caught a flash sale) and for a long time I was considering either them or iLoud MTM (~350 USD each one but they also have room calibration feature with the included microphone which can tune the sound for the particular room in just a few seconds). I've never heard about LP-6 V2 and will do my own research now (the DIP switch to adjust for the room acoustics is very neat!). I guess you've probably researched iLouds as these are fairly popular (due to the DSP processing which makes them sound on par with much larger and more expensive monitors). I wonder what's your opinion on iLoud monitors and whether I'm missing something important. Space is not really a concern in my case though I prefer something more portable just in case I want to move to my dacha this summer, ha-ha! Cheers!

Hey thanks for watching! Unfortunately I have no experience with the iLoud Micro monitors except reading about them. Most people really like them and I’ve heard a few comments about them not built to last. But I haven’t heard anyone say they sound bad. The Kali Audio LP-6 monitors are massive beasts. They’re much bigger and heavier than they seem on camera. Definitely not travelers!

@@TheRecordist thank you for the quick and helpful reply! Actually a year ago I've tried KEF Q150 as desktop speakers which I've returned as they didn't sound flat and well-detailed and were too big for my desk...turns out LP-6 is even larger. Just wow, they are really bulky (conclusion: never estimate the size of something by watching a video about it on a smartphone, ha-ha! Well, I should have paid more attention to your tape measurements). I've checked more reviews and yes, you're right about the comments regarding the quality issues with iLouds. The more expensive MTM model seems to be the one that gets the most criticism, as there are all sorts of reports of speaker failures and faulty amps. This is so unfortunate...well, I will just try iLoud Micro Monitors and see how it goes-apparently there is no affordable alternative available especially given the size. And certainly not at a bargain price (I've paid just around 200 USD for a pair during the flash sale). I have a great pair of planar headphones so in any case I will be able to verify my mixes meticulously. Regards! Vladimir

@@TheRecordist thanks! I've received iLoud Micro Monitors a few days ago and tested thoroughly. The sound is incredible especially considering the size. I still cannot understand how they're able to produce such a deep bass! The only significant downside is slight hiss (white noise) which is barely noticeable (perhaps only during the night when it's very quiet). It doesn't depend on the volume level and input, even without any connected input there is the same hiss. I've researched and apparently this issue is pretty common with audio monitors/active speakers which are using a class-D amplifier-some are hissing more, some less (and some users just don't pay attention or sitting too far away). I'm not sure whether it bothers me much as recently I've found a workaround-I've connected the audio monitors to my headphone amplifier and reduced the volume level on the monitors almost to the minimum, so there's a lot less white noise, although it's still present.

I do agree that YT audio compression can do really weird stuff to your audio. I had a similar thing happen recently on one of my vids, and I even went back and adjusted the EQ and re-uploaded it and it didn't seem to make a difference so I kinda just chalked it up to YT being YT. Later he told my friend that apparently these changes were ongoing and constant and these "events" we thought were something we could strategize around were all just shifting sand, and we were just aiming at a moving target the whole time.
