WHAT I WAS THINKING
This interview holds so much weight because they had such big plans before the pandemic. Really hope to see them live and love the dynamics of this band. They're the first in years to make me stop everything and just listen.

First new metal band since I was in high school (2011) that I was truly interested in. They really have something special going on

Before the governments and media of the world lost their shit over something that won't be even close to fatal for most of the population. I feel bad for the bands, not only do they have to get kicked in the teeth over this, but then they have to support the decisions that are fucking up their careers to save face and stay uncensored.
TIME STAMPS: 0:27 The insanity of their album release show. 1:32 Concepts behind the album. 2:29 How their personal experiences influence the album. 3:20 How they music for their fans without gatekeeping their creativity. 4:14 The evolution of their songs - breakdown or no breakdown? 5:54 Growing outside a niche music community. 7:11 The effects of growing up in Liverpool. 8:20 Navigating through heavy music as a person of colour. 10:24 Black musicians in rock or metal that are killing it right now. 11:10 Milestone career moments. 12:16 Upcoming artists they'd love to collab with.
Loathe🤘🏽. I'm a black goth and metalhead guy. I've been into metal and goth music for over a decade. I'm happy when I see other poc in metal. No matter what the people outside of the metal culture will still believe that black people only like stupid rap music. I never liked rap. But yeuh.. music is music anyone can listen to anything. Society can keep preaching their falsehood Ideology.

Rap ain’t stupid. There’re actual skilled rappers out there if you’d like to to give it a go. Don’t judge based off of what you see on KZread trending or whatever.

@@neelnair7845 I use to like rap back in middle school, that was from 2006-2008, but from 2009 till now I've been a metalhead and goth. I know it's not all mumble crap, but I just can't relate or groove to rap, because I am hyper and quirky lol, so I like headbanging and having fun, you know?

The Last Day Breathing In Eternal Snow agree with most of what you said i love seeing other black people in the scene it’s dope but you gotta expand ur horizons in hip hop, listen to tyler the creator, denzel curry, injury reserve, brockhampton, even playboi carti has some great hype tracks there’s some good shit out there man for all moods even the stuff you call “mumble” rap has some fun artists even tho I wouldn’t call it mumble rap

Great interview ! Loathe is probably my best musical discovery of 2020 ! Also, since I'm not a native speaker, I had some trouble catching the names of the musicians he mentionned from 10:30 and onwards. I hope I will be able to see them live one day !

I just found Loathe a couple days ago. I gotta say, I don't think i've heard any band like this. Parts remind me of After the Burial and other parts remind me of Nothing More and even prog rock bands like Rishloo. Awesome band!
So, you're telling me this guy sings Two Way Mirror? The accent is throwing me off, and although I knew the band was from Liverpool, it's still confusing me how he creates that dreamy sound that has an American grunge rock accent while singing.
Yo this interview is great - very nice facilitation. I'm knew to this band, and just soaking up everything I can about them. Thanks for doing this!
Its nice seeing such a fresh but heavy band from Liverpool. I'm from West Midlands myself but still. Also he's so polite. Another nice thing to see
When it comes to the whole "race" thing with metal, you could say the same shit about rap and hip hop music, wanna bet there's more people of colour in that industry? It's a no-brainer. It's about culture, not race. Kadeem fucking kills, he could be green and still fucking kill. Talent in a role isn't exclusive to any race, gender or upbringing, and it doesn't matter as much as everyone thinks it does. Loathe is sick and I think "I Let it in" is a masterpiece! So happy that I heard about you guys from TrueShot and TrueShot from Spiritbox, everyone's rubbing everyone's backs, love to see it!
i dont know the different english accents but i just can tell he sounds like steven gerrard and jamie carragher lol
Finally a channel for underground metal fans!!! Right on ;)
From Beatles to Loathe , what a trip! Love from Hong Kong btw
LOATHE & THE FIVE HUNDRED on tour...now that would kick butt!
This was a great interview with some genuinely interesting questions, thank you! loathe are great
MY FAV ALBUM EVER

I love this album so much, great interview!
British ppl talk so cool lol.
You are so good at interviewing and such a natural! You made him feel so comfortable, made him speak and you are amazing Yasmine, keep it up 💓
Scarlrxd and loathe? I would kill too, see this happening 😠🤎🖤😺
Bro he literally pushed my into this fucking heavy mosh pit once, was mad fell on my face, but yeah he’s proper sound 10/10
i remember seeing them for the first time at Knotfest with the guy wearing a pillowcase over his head on stage and Connor’s strap broke so he played the rest of the song on the floor lol that was a great show
No idea they we're scousers... sappenin!
scar on a loathe song would kill me
Just found out these guys are scouse, as a scouser my mind is blown

Yasmine, I appreciate your prioritization of the interview, but please work towards pointing the mic towards yourself when you ask a question! Thanks for this interview, you asked great questions!

I had trouble hearing her often because of how the mic was pointed. 8:50 is a great example of that. She captured Kadeem great, but her voice is not recorded with the same quality in dynamics because an Omni mic definitely captures all, but the response in certain areas is lacking, as in where her voice is coming from.
yeep it’s my birthday today

"Like" in UK is just another "Erm". But in sometimes in UK its considered rude to keep saying "erm" a lot. Thats why some of us use "like" as a pause
An Englishman named France? Rubbish
Scouser accent thick af

Whats race got to do with anything ? Im sitting here thinking what a cool guy, great band - then they start going on about race.. Just drop the race thing why does it matter what race you are ?

i mean the scene is majority white, you’re going to be reminded everyday if you’re a person of color at shows, backhanded compliments and little side comments. He talks about it because it affects him and it does matter, it’s cool that he can be open about it and it’s cool to see black vocalist in a heavy band makes you feel comfortable and it’s cool he’s not afraid to speak on these issues

LeeseMedia clearly you’ve never experienced how it feels to be a person of color in this scene so maybe you shouldn’t say “nobody gives a shit about his color” he’s clearly stated interviews that people have made comments on his skin color and how good it felt to see other black people at his shows and let them know they can be comfortable in this space
@SCARLXRD !!!!
