Owning Hondas and being around them during my early formative driving years, in a time before the majority of them were turboed and the K-Series was still new, the sound of an N/A B-series or K-series just gets deep in my soul. I can understand when others who didn't grow up around the sound say that they don't like it, but there is no denying that it is unique.

@@lowbudgetkswap5774 I had a ek hatch with H22A turboed back in the day and it sounds like a beast.. rumbled like a v8.. I use to destroy corvettes and s2000, they didn't know what to think.

K20 is damn near considered a classic now. Going on 20+ years now.

@@alleybuilds5370 I knew what the car was simply by the NH-0 paint job. I've owned 3 NH-0 cars: 2001 DC5 ITR, 1997 EK9, and a 1996 DB8 ITR which I currently still own and am working on getting it on a boat so I can be reunited with it.

For anyone worried about noise, theres an easy solution. A turbocharger will quiet it down substantially without losing any hp.

No matter how far I go. Ill always remember the one that started it all for me. Hondas and Acura’s. Especially Civics and Integras.

I have a jdm k20a and 6spd lsd in my ‘00 em1. The sound and driving experience is amazing. VTEC through ktuned 4-1 and no cat is pure ear joy. Mine pulls hard in 3rd, I have dc5 type r trans and the gear ratios are super close, but it’s perfect it in the canyons… my build aside from interior is almost identical, ktuned everything with hasport mounts.

Love the build recap and think the price for a well-sorted car is more than fair.

Ive been thinking about getting a civic like this and doing a swap. This is a dream set up. If i had the room for it id be on my way to get it.

k series 90's civics and integras are so much worth the fun! Yes, you hear everything, rattles, squeeks, feeling the road, it's very engaging and an experience. When it revs to the moon pulling all the way on a stock engine in a cheap car. Beat the crap out of it all day and she'll keep rippin! Also, my double wide aluminum radiator would never let the car get over 145 degrees. Very not good for the engine on the street to run that cold, the tune was a pain when it doesn't warm up all the way. I switched back to stock style radiator. Feeling like that car is worth $10k. Labor time doesn't really transfer into the sale price.

When Nick tuned it he did open header on his last run and produced 218 to the wheels. Maybe it needed a refresh on the valvetrain or valve lash. Idk but 218 and 144 tq is perfect for that light chasis.

You guys seemed so happy with that Honda ! Time to build another n/a beast. Preferably B series since you guys did a F & K series

After you talked about how soft the engine is, you go into talking about the single stage thermostat in a large radiator and how it never gets up the operating temperature... If the motors never gettin warm than the ECU is probably pulling timing, running rich, and that's why you're down on power.

People usually run k series at around 180 degrees as opposed to the 220 ish stock temp

Funny, I watched a bunch of videos that said the exact opposite about the filters, basically Wix was the best but K&N performed the slightest bit better but basically didn't filter at all while Wix filtered incredibly and almost flowed as well as the K&N. Funny how that always happens. Now I'm questioning everything in my life. haha

K series oil filters make such a mess when changing them. If you use a Starbucks venti cup(iced) it fits over the filter and little oil cooler and will catch all the oil when changing it. You gotta try it.
