I really think that what's more important is to change some of the subject in school to much more useful ones... like basic human rights, basic safety when there is an emergency, basic first aid... also add more topic on economic subject like basic stock market, the importance of saving and preparing for retirements, being financially independent, and other topics for them to be successful in life. All of these knowledge and information are very useful in everyday life after school. These are very helpful in being successful in life. And if the majority of the population is equipped with these knowledge... the country's economy will grow, poverty in the Philippines will be lessen. In addition of preparing for retirement... it's sad to say that majority of the Filipino doesn't do this. A lot of Filipinos work there whole life and when it's time for them to retire without a proper retirement plan in placed... they relay on their children for resources. And this mentality continues for every generations.

This is why Finnish schools are better, they focus more on how a student finds himself/herself in this world and also teaching them subjects actively than passively rather than teaching them a lot of things that not all are useful. Because of this, students from Finland are more encouraged to go to school because of their current school system. Here, we basically compete for high grade marks causing a high number of students having depression and anxiety over projects and tests that doesn’t really measure intelligence and/or success and spend their whole teenage lives in schools rather than exploring the world and knowing what life really is at a young age than making them more like workers that doesn’t have anything else to do but to work. We should adapt Finland’s school system rather than following America’s common core which is deteriorating and basically making some students lives miserable because not all students are the same. “No two brains are the same”. We all have different ways to learn, different ways of thinking in and about this world.

@@komradmango2305 Entirely missing the point. I can tell you've never studied abroad to get the idea being raised here. Philippine education is outdated. It doesn't work in the real world if you want progress. That's why so many work abroad as maids and nurses because they couldn't elevate knowledge beyond what's provided in the country. Their qualifications don't meet the higher international standards. So adding fucking 2 years to school doesn't necessarily change for the better. I can tell you are a product of the low quality of this new system. You don't know a thing what education is at all.

And K-12 should be scrapped out for that matter. You want Filipinos to develop a good sense of business and entrepreneurship acumen? Then implement business as a subject in high school early on. Also, scrap out much of the rote learning, exam-oriented curriculum. There must be more room in learning on critical thinking, logic, and creativity to cultivate in students' minds that they can develop through in the real world.

Correction: You ignore the fact that not everyone in the Philippines speaks Tagalog. Majority are Visayan speakers . Cebuano is a language not a dialect. There are also many languages in the Philippines. Imposing Tagalog on others is impractical and also a tad bit being culturally imperialistic.

Sa sobrang haba at dami ng pinag aaralan lalong nagiging komplikado ang lahat bakit yung mga naunang curriculum nakakuha din ng trabaho at naging successful pa sakanilang buhay im against this k12 mas maigi pa na mag masteral ka after your bachelor degree then mag doctorate ka pesteng k to 12 yan sa pag aaply s government hanapan ka ng civil service eligibility. Mas malakai chance mo for promotion pag may masters ka ito n lang dapat i encourage ang masteral degree

gud am po sa lahat? my katanungan lang, paano yung far flung barangays na hindi makapasok ng kinder1-2 pati nursery, nahirapan nga sila mag grade -1? as per coordination with the principal hindi maka proceed ang bata mag grade 1 kapag hindi matapos ang kinder1&2 kasama pa nursery.. ang alam ko po na private school lang ang mayrong nagtuturo sa kinder1- at kinder 2. sobrang mahal po tuition sa private school.. nakita ba ang problema dito na hindi ma afford sa mahihirap nito? paano po itong problema?

K to 12 program.. Bakit yung mga books sa program na ito ay hindi nagagamit ang sinusunod pa din ng mga teachers ay yung mga old books.. Word for word nakikita namin na sa lecture nang mga bata ay hindi nangagaling dito sa mga books na ito..ang nakukuha lang nang mga bata ay yung mga itinuturo sa kanila dapat ang mga nagtuturo ang pinagaaral dahil ang kaalaman nila ang ipinapasa sa mga bata..wala nang gaano lecture ang mga bata ngaun ano ibig sabihin nun tinatamad na ba sila magturo o mas matalino mga bata ngaun para ma gets nila agad kahit wala lecture naiinitindihan na nila.. wala kwenta ang k to 12 na yan .. sayang panahon at pera nang magulang kawawa din mga bata tatanda na nagaaral pa..

Sheena Mae Bolisay i agree , K-12 is a waste of time and money. they should focused on improving the skills of the teachers instead and implement performance evaluation to observe if they're really doing their job right. Also, add/renovate the facilities in public schools. Additional years is useless if the teachers are not effective/not a good lecturer and if there's over populated rooms. Remember that QUALITY IS IMPORTANT NOT THE QUANTITY. #notoK-12

Sheena Mae Bolisay I swear it's a crappy education system. Adding 2 more years to high school doesn't result magically into well to do programming. Dep Ed doesn't think about learning. This program only designs to make Filipinos be able to work abroad much easier but not to develop self sufficiency and innovation within the country. Not only that, they freaking cost so much money and you're right they should've spent on this for retraining teachers and changing some method in curriculum. Over in Japan, students graduate high school at 16 and Finland also at 16. Both score very high in science and maths. Who the heck thought up of adding 2 more of those years for secondary level to supposedly boost up development and likelihood of getting international accreditation? It's the entire curriculum that needs working up dammit!

You don't work in banks just graduating high school even in US or australia. That's bullshit myth. I'm in Australia and they require that you have enough years of experience in terms of customer service in order to work in their banks. Getting high school diploma doesn't cut it. Philippine Dep Ed still doesn't get it. The system needs to reform teachers and how learning is given to students. Cut out rote learning bull shit and embed methods that inspire innovation even as early as 5 years of age.

ako po case ko po ay may back subject po ako nung 3rd year pa po ako pero isa lang tapos nung nag fourth year na ako ay may bagsak parin ako isa tapos di ako naka graduate ng high school dahil wala akong pera na pang summer school noun ang batch ko po sana ay 2014-15 dapat ako gra graduate sana noun huhuhuhu may tanong lang po ako sana hehehe kung babalik bah ako sa pag aaral ano po bah ang grade ko sa curruculum ngayon kung babalik ako sa pag aaral this year

istudyante din po ako na huminto dahil na operahan nito lang june 2016, wala pa po akong 1 week nakakapasok as g11 sa public school namin, hindi na po ako nakapasok hanggang ngayon , and then mag papa reserved na po ako sa isang private school dito sa lugar namin at sinabi ko po yung case ko , kelangan daw po namin mag punta direct ss DEPED para mag request ng bagong voucher, yun po , hindi na po kami nag punta ng deped , para mag request ng voucher, sa madaling salita po , may voucher Daw po pero aasikasuhin sa deped,

Maricris Uri nope.. pwede pa po siyang mag collage ngayong 2017-2018.. pero pag di pa po nakapenroll or nakapag aral this year. next year 2018-2019 masasama po siya sa grade 11-12.

Abnormal Yung Nag Propose ng K-12. Eh yung Bilang nga ng Teacher di Nila Matugunan. Ang Daming School sa City/Province Kulang sa Classroom, Upuan at Libro. Yung High School Grad, nakakakuha na Yan ng Trabaho. Yung Additional na Two Years E Gastos lang Yan. Pwede Silang Kumuha ng Two Year Course if they Want. OR Better 6 Months Course Directly sa Tesda. NC II Lang Din naman Hinahanap Pag Nag Aapply Ka. Palibhasa Mayayaman at Graduate na Yung Nag Panukala Netong K-12 wala na Silang Pakialam.

isama mo din ung ng approved ng k12... sa panahon ngyon mukhang wala na teacher sa skul kundi nasa youtube na (online na) so pano na 😔 wala na talaga ggraduate nyan (except nlng sa mga may pera pero sa abroad na sila ngaaral dahil nasa ibang bansa magagaling mga teacher)

Dapat hatiin ang Science sa tatlo eh pero sabay-sabay ite-take kada taon: BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY at PHYSICS

you can apply to HRM in college or any type of job that needs man labor 😊

sorry if you want communication technology. you can apply to Tourism, mascomunnication or Hotel and restaurant management. they are all focus in communication. of if you love with the touch of science you can take the Psychology course. hope it will help you.

Interested in computers? The ICT Strand is the perfect choice. You’ll be taught how to write computer programs, websites and possibly apps. This includes Medical Transcription and Computer Animation. After taking this strand, you can then proceed to BSIT in college. You can also work immediately as a computer programmer, animator or medical transcriptionist but make sure you’ve already learned enough.

kapoy pud biya skwela ug pila ka years nya ma and pa gyud ug 2 yrs in total 20 yrs ka kapin mag skwela 😭 mahurot nalang gyud siguro ang money sa imong mga parents sige ug bayad para sa skwelahan haysss unsaon nalang gyud :(((( financial problems

Kris Jane Paano kung business marketing ang kunin ko so ilang years para makacomplete? at dadaan pa ba ako ng college? para sa course ko?

May cut off po ba ang grade sa stem? Kailangan ba talaga 85 above? Paano po kung di na kaabot ng 85 bagsak kaa agad?

Yong goal ng K-12 is for us to be job ready..pagkatapos ng Grade 12 pwede na mag work kahit hindi na mag college..ano ba purpose mo bakit ka nag-aral?para magkatrabaho right?hindi LP ang may gawa nyan..the ASEAN 2007 in Cebu crafted the Asean 2015..hindi yan pinigilan ni Tatay Digong kasi alam nya yung legal basis nyan..minadaling ipatupad yan kasi after ASEAN 2007 nakalimutan na ng gobyerno na pag usapan kung ano ang dapat gawin sa 2015..kasi yung mga walang kwentang pamumulitika yung inuna..Since marami naman sa atin ay digital native learners, mag search nalang kayo more about ASEAN..and read about Republic Act 10533 or the enhanced basic education act..we are an active member of ASEAN so we must cooperate and collaborate with our government..

Job ready? How? Depends on which these students take up for jobs. What simplistic reasoning. Parroting off from others without critically examining the problems hereon. K-12 literally does nothing to learning nor graduates. actually it depends on what you plan to do after college. Kung balak mo magtatrabaho sa hotels, restau then its better to take the TVET track under the "HOME ECONOMICS" strand, pero kung long term goal mo eh magtayo or magkaron ng sariling business, then you go for the academic track under the "BAM" strand

Erika Hernandez actually you can choose any kind of track kasi ang mahalaga sa lahat ay ang core subjects hindi ang specialization

Right now, STEM talaga dapat ang kinuha mo. It may be okay sa ibang schools but state universities have become strict on this matter. but if you really want to become a nurse, they usually offer bridging programs that help you learn the competencies of STEM that you did not learn in HUMSS strand. Swerte nga kung STEM student ka kasi pwede kang puili nang kahit na anong course, however, sa ibang strands, kailngan pa nang bridging program which will unfortunately take up your summer vacation.
