K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth EDH/Commander Deck Tech

Ойындар

About a year ago, I posted a competitive deck tech, breaking down my favorite K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth deck. Many of you responded to this video, asking if I could approach it from a less competitive angle. I did just that, and while I did try to maintain the same gameplan, we are using alot more a casual pace. I hope you enjoy!

Awesome video! This kind slower, more casual, decklist was exactly what I was looking for! Most of the other videos are all cEDH decks for K'rikk!

I think taking K'rrik to a casual pod with 15+ tutors and the intent to combo off is kinda BM, and will still draw the ire of the table haha. But I like the deck! It gives me hope that I may be able to build him again guilt free 😅

Awesome video! whats would you say the power level is on this deck? high 7s maybe 8?

I would say it's around an 8. There isn't a whole lot of difference between this and the cEDH level, besides the fast mana and optimal tutor spells.

Question for you! When you sacrifice the gray merchant to necrotic ooze (dimir is in your graveyard), does dimir then regenerate and come back to the battlefield?

Not quite. Regeneration acts similar to the shield counters we saw from Capenna, in that it protects it from destruction once. So you give the Ooze a regeneration, and saves it from being destroyed each time you use that part of the ability.

@@PlaneswalkerProject Oh wow, I did not know that's how regenerate worked! Thanks for that clarification!

What do you think of Braids as a monoblack Commander? Thanks for the vídeo! 😊

Definitely a good option. She can be built into some nasty control styles.

K'rrik is a pretty good commander. But it can be easy defeat, even by himself. However, one thing in this video is that it makes me confused: combo Chainer+Merchant. According to the Chainers' text, we should pay 3 black and 3 life, so it means that we should pay 9 lifes total. Isn't it right?

This is correct. If you use K’rrik to pay for the black pips, it’ll be nine life total paid for each cycle.

When coping chain of smog does it need its casting cost to be paid?

Nope. Alot of times, when you copy spells, like in this case, any additional costs would be noted, like Chain of Lightning. Chain of Smog has no such restrictions.

I would really like to build the deck, but fear that it will be very repetitive and boring to play because you only tutor for the combo pieces, how does krrik feel to play?

It is a little bit streamlined compared to most Commander decks, but you can sometimes go into different combo lines for the varied games.
