Hey Dee, thanks for your comment! Yeah totally makes sense! Bands tend to write all their own stuff, even in pop music! I'm really looking forward to the album by them, would love more bands like Day6 in K-Pop in general!! I'll check out I Need Somebody! Thanks!

Day6 members write and compose AND produce their own music (with some help from JYP's Studio J). They are a real band who create their own unique music. So yes different from typical kpop acts since they're very much hands on with their music and how they market themselves. They prefer to go on tour doing concerts because that's what bands do :)

This song is so upbeat and energetic and you can feel the wholesomeness through the music itself without needing to read the lyrics! It’s now one of my favourite DAY6 songs. So you talked about how you saw the same team of writers in the album sampler, these are actually the band members themselves. Composing and arrangement is usually done by the members along with an in-house producer and lyrics are mostly done by their bassist Young K with some songs collaborated with other members of the band. Idol bands like DAY6 will generally write their own music. Idol bands are different from idol groups who have choreographies and more often have other people write music for them. DAY6 are incredible band and common known by the international kpop fandom to have no “bad songs”. They have a pretty big discography of around 72 songs all in just 3 years and all these songs are really good! The last two comebacks they had “Shoot Me” and “days gone by” are also really interesting if you want to check them out. “Shoot Me” is also a song with a lot of energy and drive and is quite dynamic but more on the angsty side compared to Time of Our Life. “Days gone by” is a throwback late 70s style synth pop track that carries a nice calming and sentimental vibe. Some energetic b-sides are “Somehow” and “I Need Somebody”. It’d be nice if you could react to those. Thanks for the reaction and the explanation about the guitars and the energy of a song. I hope you check out more of DAY6’s music!

Day6 debuted way back in 2015 but to establish themselves as real musicians, they stayed away from weekly music shows (that cudnt allow plugged instruments due to time constraints) & opted for small gigs & public buskings. They write their own music & have yet to produce any bad ones - that they're known as Kings of No Bad Songs. They got themselves a somewhat cult following n not really known mainstream til in 2017, they did a breakthrough promo of monthly comebacks of 2 songs, 2 concerts & radio appearances - a month - amongst others. The project was called Everyday6. Most MyDays board the bandwagon during that time & because of that exposure, more & more ppl r getting to love them & r giving band music more listening to. Trust & listen to Day6 :)

Well, as the others said, Day6 is a self- composing band, they also write their own lyrics (mostly YoungK ) and they get helped with the production. Their whole discography is amazing, but some of my favorites, which you should check out are: I need somebody, Man in a movie, Shoot me, Dance dance, Colours and their debut song Congratulations. They also have Japanese releases that are even more high energy than most of the Korean ones, so if you like you can also check out If I & Stop the rain As for other band groups in the K-pop scene you have: FT Island, N.Flying, CN Blue, The Rose & Re:Iz I´m not sure if I´m forgetting anyone, if I am, I apologoze to the fans. From this groups I´d recomend: FT Island: Severely, I wish, Wind & Pray N. Flying: Hot potato, Rooftop & The Real CN Blue: Can´t stop, I´m sorry & I´m a loner The Rose: Sorry, Baby, She´s in the rain & Like we used to Re:Iz : Eden & Angel (they don´t have a lot of songs because they´re rookies ) Hope that this long ass comment is helpful and btw I really liked your reaction. And thank you for reactig to our Day6.

I was trying so hard not to cry listening to your review. I am a big fan of bands (listen to wide range of artists from the 70's til now) and I have never been prouder of Day6 after your review. Though I enjoy bands, I never put in effort learning any instrument haha. That you for the detailed review about how these boys plah their instruments. Their dedication to their music for me is they want to experiment as much but without losing their color as Day6.

Everyone said it all. Would encourage you to listen to... basically the rest of their discography. It is quite versatile & they've claimed a comparatively niche territory (esp in krn entertainment). You've nailed it with the human emotions piece. I personally prefer pop rock leaning music, which prob explains my natural (and strong) affinity for Day6 in particular, but the lyrics (young k really upped his game with their recent release) make it that much more impactful. Fun, trendy, dance-able songs just don't... cut it for me. No emotional resonance and so they never stick and never make it to the daily listen list. Thanks for the review!

Thanks Diarios! Glad the video was interesting for you. Yeah I agree, no one else sounding like them atm in Korea! Would be interested to see how they do in Japan as Japan is more band / guitar focused. Yeah the emotion is so important, you gotta feel something when listening to the song right? I was told in my old songwriting classes music is 10% technology, 90% psychology - so true haha I appreciate your comment!

Hi Hi! AZODi, I hope you are well :) I just happened to find this and I am glad. I have a music background and I am rather interested in Music Production and Song Writing. I am super glad to see you're sharing your knowledge and intel. One of the more interesting things that I found about the structure of this song is the bridge into an alternate pre chorus using the same backing as the chorus which led to an smoother transition into the last chorus. What did you think of that? And for the structure where they vamp and sing the A-e-i-a-o part, is that considered vamp or still apart of the chorus? I have become more aware of instrumental tracks and song production ever since I've had the chance to arrange and really analyze a bit more. Would it be possible to maybe go over song structure more? You briefly touch using Chorus A and B, but I am interested in learning more. Since to me, kpop has changed over a decade and I have noticed that some songs are very inconsistent in structure (with the instrumental, feel) which gives it a feel that the song could be separated into two drastically and it would work as an SIDE A or B in a EP . It was rather bizarre for me, how do you feel about that? Or am I just wrong?
