lol you called Zombie ‘Vampire’ 😂. I find that very charming of you for some reason 🤣♥️✨ This Setlist was mostly title tracks and I personally favour their b-sides so much more! But I’d have to say my favourite one of this bunch is ‘I Like You’. The title was only written in Korean here - 좋아합니다. It’s the one with the long drawn out belting- “Johaaahabnidaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa’ 😍 tickles my brain so perfectly!!

A very interesting detail about this group is the way the group was formed. Sungjin (oldest, leader and guitarist) was absolutely hopeless at dancing (at least this is what he said) but the company didn't want to give up on him, so they decided to make a band centred around him. There were multiple iterations of that project group until Day6 members were decided. One of them had Jihyo (Twice), Young K, and another male trainee, the story is shared by Young K in an interview with Eric Nam. Most of them needed to learn to play the instruments for this band (except Dowoon who was recruited because they needed a drummer), and on top of this they also needed to learn to write their songs. Their only condition to debut was to know how to produce their songs. Of course, the whole concept was a roller-coaster of learning for both them and the company that didn't know anything about how to manage a band, they were their first band. But it gave us this beautiful group. Also, they were meant to be able to sing live for festivals, they also had busking stages (lots of JYP groups seem to have had that phase with busking stages, SKZ and Twice also had them). Also, my favourite part of those promotions is how much they are orientated into having them singing karaoke or impromptu style. On Dingo they also have an episode from a few weeks ago where they're in a local and use beer cans and forks as microphones, they went on Halmyungsoo (ep 147) where they had karaoke, Hup also karaoke, went on Lee Hyori show, 1theK Behind the Studio to sing Welcome to the show in the middle of nowhere, sang in 3 languages on Hello82 and so many more. I just love it

i love how they played some of my ultimate faves of their discography, but i wasnt familiar with the korean titles, so i was surprised each time another one of my faves were played lol

The first time I hear them I felt in love with Sungjin's voice, but short after I realized all of them had their own charm. Their vocals are so impressive... Tho nowadays Wonpil's voice (since his 1st album "Pilmography") brings me so so so much comfort and warms me inside... thank you so much for reacting and for encourage people to go and watch them! Ughh Wonpil’s voice is just so warm and lovely. I remember listening to pilmography and just thought it was such a work of art. I missed listening to his voice when he went to the military. I listened to someday spring will come A LOT meanwhile but now I’m so glad I get to hear his voice again, the voice that brought me so much comfort.

Usually, k-pop groups/bands divide parts according to what a particular vocalist can do but as far as Day6 is concerned, they can all take up anything and you know it'll sound good because all of them are UP there in terms of range and tonal quality!

Their bassist - Young K is the heart of the group, cos he wrote almost all their songs. He also a solo artist and radio DJ. A lot of popular K-pop Idols/artists are Young K fans! I`d advise you to check his cover-project - "YOUNG ONE", there`s a lot of English songs (btw he is fluent in it). My fav: "Love Me Less" (Max, Quinn Xcii cover), "What Am I" (Why Don't We cover), "Last Call" (Hudson Thames cover), "Like A Star" (Corinne Bailey Rae cover), "What A Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong cover)

For me personally I LOVE Young K's voice , or his tone. I have no idea about technicalities going into vocals on any front but his voice just hits different. Sungjin is just on another level , i usually don't like vocal fry type thingy that people try to do but he does it beautifully, wonpil absolutely has a pretty voice, like it's clean and pretty. And Dowoon ufff the bass in his voice, guy needs to sing more , I hope he does

I love Young K’s voice! Sometimes he’s raspy, soft, soulful etc. His live performances are amazing.

You mentioned how most groups sing the newest song last, Day6 arranged this how they would arrange a concert , so the order is based on that. Welcome to the show is a natural to be a show starter. one of my most favorite things about day6’s songs is their utilization of vocal harmonies!!! this isn’t showcased as much in this video but if you listen to their songs there’s soooo many moments where it’s acapella with these beautiful harmonies that are vocalized in the background. as a music nerd, i love it sm but they know their music theory shit!! here are a few songs: - letting go (rebooted version) this song literally makes me ascend - better better - i like you - headache and you NEEEED to check out “how to love” im not the most knowledgeable when it comes to vocal techniques but something about their vocals in this song scratches my brain just right

I *love* that you mentioned the guitarist, Sungjin's, vocal texture and how you could tell it was natural/he wasn't straining!!!!! He's always had that texture, but he gave himself more of a raspy singing voice once he was in the band, and as time went on, you could tell he forcing the grit more and more. It was what made him stand out, but was not the healthiest for his voice. After he came back from his hiatus, he started taking vocal lessons again and I can *hear* the improvement bc he went back to his basics, which always had the unique rasp.

I'm so happy you saw them! DAY6 are AMAZING! incredible singers and performers. Their whole discography is perfect. Young K (bassist) is to me the best singer in the kpop industry period. Sungjin (guitarist) voice makes me so emotional every time I listen to him. Wonpil (piano) is so sweet and sings so well, and Dowoon (baterist) is the best (and the maknae). DAY6 are the idols of idols. You will find them in all the playlist of popular idols, everyone loves them. I wish they were more popular.

Maknae Dowoon is very shy about his voice but he does have a duet released called Out of the Blue.

You should react to xdinary heroes, they're a band under JYP and work closely with Day6. I would recomend their live versions of Tomboy, Hellevator, Pirates, Drown and welcome to the parade. They've also done a great cover of Day6's Zombie. Their own songs are also very good. Good enough, Strawberry cake and Hair cut are my favourites

Actually day6 was originally had 6 members thats why they call day6 but one of them out b4 they even debut, and one other member decided to leave day6 couple years ago he was a Great singer too his name is jae (hes from america) he now has his own album so you can probably check them out Notes: after jae leave day6 he became a twitch streamer and got some controversy bcs of his attitude soo some fans are not cool abt it.

Day6 has 3 Main vocalist, (Well Sungjin the guitarist is technically the main) but Wonpil (Pianist) once said they have a different main vocal for every song. YoungK (Bassist) is still to this day my favorite kpop/band vocalist. This guy is so versatile. he can go very dark, very bright, he can go very low, very high. He's also writing basically every song after their debut album. He also wrote NMIXX's Run for Roses.

Love Day6 a loooot. They're awesome. Young K, the one who started with a husky voice, is my forever favourite. Three of four years ago I've first time heard him covering Frank Sinatra's song and immediately fell in love. Never new it's even possible.

the staccato notes and their difficulty is exactly why seungkwan's cover of wifi is soooooo difficult but no one ever appreciates how difficult it is technically

since everyone already commented regarding their roles and such.. i’d just give a little background info since you also listen and likes stray kids. 😄 Bang Chan shared dorms with Day6 during his trainee days and is very very close with them but especially with Young K/Brian (bass), Young K basically raised Channie when he moved to Korea and Chan has high regard and respect for him and considers him his mentor. you should watch how they interact with each other, channie switches from the ‘leader’ persona to a cute little baby brother when he is with his Brian hyung.. and when he is in a slump he always goes to Brian for advice since YoungK almost produced all (if not all) of day6 songs. He is such a good lyricist and composer cos he makes those songs to fit day6. I am personally waiting for them to release a collab together. But basically all of Stray Kids loves Day6 esp our MyDay president Kim Seungmin who does a day6 cover every chance he gets.. hahaha. Seungmin and Hannie of released covers of day6 in their skz-player. AND since you love Zombie, Channie and Seungmin did a live cover for an award show; Chan, Seungmin and I.N did ‘I’ll Try’ which is one of my fave Day6 songs along with Still, Time of our Life, Days Gone By, When You Love Someone, Letting Go, Hi Hello, You Make Me. but basically all of their songs, highly recommend to check all of their releases since debut, they are such amazing talented storytellers and live performers. ❤
