I ended up biting the bullet, and ordered the California Legal one for my 06 N/A Auto today. I guess I'll see in a month or two, if I'm happy or not with my decision. 👍

Let me know what you think. I have a 2006 Base as well. I like the car, it runs perfect. It's just so slow. Lol I know it won't add much, but anything is a gain with the PT.

Nice man!! another tip for you open up the fender well. On my 06 there's a panel that covers an opening in the steel, I took a hole saw and drilled the covering and debaffled the stock air box and extended the plumbing through the fender well. Your worst enemy is the heat under the hood. here's how you will help this remove the under hood insulation open the fender well and remove the rubber weatherstrip at the cowl this will give you a cowl draw off the windshield to extract the heat. I've had my 06 like this for 4 years now. They say the best setup for these HP wise is the stock air box debaffled with a k and n drop in. The oil on the filter is to draw the dirt. The stage 1 consist of bigger injectors and a new pcm that changes boost ,timing and shift points etc. In my 06 it came with larger injectors already so I opted for the Diablo sport intune 1000 canned tune and it's a huge difference. It's a 93 octane tune with some timing and increased boost. I'll do an overview video on my cruiser in the near future outlining all this. I also installed an exhaust dump after the cat and when it's uncapped it's a huge difference in power. keep up the vids and get some cool air into that engine bay or you will be sucking lots of HP robbing hot air with that typhoon.

Sounds good I've an 03' non turbo cruiser base model thinking about doing a cold air intake

I have a sykes stage 1 in my 03 gt. Motor is from a 04. Has upgraded injectors as well with turbo and b.o.v. i highly recommend sykes. Theyll get you 1 and run it with your vin. And then do the tune is how i do believe they do it.

the oil recharge kit is for when you wash the filter at set service intervals. as far as I know you can get a mopar stage one ecu/pcm or get it remapped on a dyno which you should do now as you have the rest of a stage one ie free flow exhaust and air intake

So i am currently looking at a 2007 pt cruiser touring edition this old man is selling it seems to have an aftermarket cold air intake but I am not fully sure if it is turbocharged or not it doesnt have any of the badges anymore how would i be able to tell

Oil in the filter the dirt will stick to it so it doesn't suck in small particles of dirt or dust

You did a pt computer upgrade on a recent episode. Did that make the car less sensitive to trip dash lights and help it run smoother?

Those filters should have come preoiled and some are designed to be dry element. Love kn intakes with turbo cars. Had a custom setup on my 91 Eagle Talon TSi and it sounded great. With any luck I'll have a GT myself soon. The dealership in town has two, one auto and one manual. Grabbing the manual as it's got 65k miles on it.

Yes ,disconnect negative battery cable ,your computer needs to reset to adjust to more air intake and the air intake temperature sensor will probably send a trouble code when removed from stock air intake at least that happens sometimes on 06 -2010 PT s.

By the way, the K& N oil particulate gets on everything inside the intake runner, throttle plates, turbo blades and on the sensors. The generic CAI kit is 30 bucks on ebay if you already have a $5 muffler on it and want more noise. Most adults will not sacrifice performance for a Barrio muffler and a noisy CAI that sucks high temp under hood air.

I got a I believe base model. I want a turbo. What's difference between the turbo and non turbo model motors internally. Can I put turbo on my model or should I get wrecked turbo model and swap?. Just toying with the idea. Thanks for any help

the oil is so it helps catch more smaller fragments aposed to having nothing there to wiggle through, the oil is a lot more tacky and sticky compared to the regular airfilter compound

You just oiled a pre-oiled filter. When they're red they're oiled. The filter element is not dark red when not oiled.

yeah, i thought k&n's all came pre-oiled. it does sound a lot better. the oil traps dirt. think of a wet towel vs a dry one. ypu can pick up a lot more dirt with a wet one. .. and if you wet it with water, it will dry, but oil won't dry as quickly as water. it says you can go up to 50k miles between cleanings but i do it yearly. it looks great. modifying cars is a slippery slope. lol. you've been bitten. i look forward to the gauge install video.

The stage ones are really hard to come by nowadays. You can find some for sale on eBay sometimes but after that not really sure where you would get one. For the money though a diablo sport tuner would be a way better idea. Can do a lot more stuff with it

I just purchased the 2007 Pt Cruiser. i have the PO304 malfunction code. the #4 cylinder has a broken spark plug. How would you suggest I repair it ?

Take out plug Put new plug in 18.5 min to do all 4 plugs Add 6.8 min to replace coil Add 4.6min changing wires

first off. the crankcase hose is notorious for going bad. so if the intake hose. second off. that hose that connect to the intake hose is a pressure house

Channel C.G.E. yeah my non turbo is not a race car that's for sure, but still fun. I've put a full out sound system and aftermarket rims on mine. I've replaced all the suspension parts with moog stuff and it rides like a dream. I'm currently 159k. Someday I'm hoping to do a full out restoration on it and put a nice big motor in it.

I put a cone filter on my diesel but haven’t fitted the aluminium pipe yet, you can get a plug in stage 1 box, I think it’s called the Tiger Box(?) about £70 or $100

Robert bonham that is correct. The old airbox gets air from outside the engine bay. The KN sucks up warm air from the engine bay. Also airflow changes so the engine should be remapped for the changed airflow

Don't you think the factory Steering Wheel of the Pt is too big? Have you ever thought about replacing it?

The factory wheel is a little odd, I've kinda gotten use to it over the 2 years of owning this car... but I have thought about swapping it out

Trying to figure out why my vehicle have a SMOG problem, pain in the ass man.

Deleting that heifermule of an airbox will make it easier to work on the engine. I'm down with this.

Rojelio Vargas pretty much? You can’t. They don’t do the turbocharged petrol model in the uk and to fit a turbo you need to mess with the firewall etc ☹️☹️

I have a question. How many miles or km's can the Turbo GT go easily? I can buy one in Switzerland with 178000 km for a very good price and looks also very good.

Nice video. Do you know of anyone who has tried it on a stock 2nd gen N/A, + what they thought of it. +/or what are your thoughts are. I have an 06 Touring N/A Automatic and have wanted one for a few years, + I have 2 days till the sales over + am trying to decide..... Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. PS - Like I said....Stock car ...... I only have Flowmaster Turbo muffler, VMS Coil + Leads, NGK Plat Plugs, a Poweraid TB Spacer that I may or may not use, and I will prob get a UD Crank pulley. All maintenance is kept more than up, has 105k miles, + is a really good car, esp for the age. I do like to drive it hard + fast, not beating it up, but hard n fast though. In Southern California btw. So I have to get the K&N 57-1550 to be street + smog legal. Thanks again in advance. 👍

Thanks for the effort, but the factory turbo air box IS a cold air intake, has a velocity stack above the air filter cartridge, and a built in intake muffler so cops don't chase you down for an illegal intake. This set up draws extra hot air from under the hood and makes LESS HP (Check Mighty Car Mods tests). Fact.

Peel the sticker off before you run it or it will be very unhappy to come off afterwards since your main concern was a dirty transmission and not the performance gain. ;)

Fwdperformance.com - I purchased the Stage 1 ECU from them in the last year. It took a couple months to receive, from the day of order. They actual send them elsewhere to be programmed, receive them back, then ship it to you. This increases the turnaround time. However, since you already own the GT ECU, I would suggest one of the Diablo options. A much better bang for your buck, and you can customize your own tunes. I have the i2.

I was wondering the same thing. My damn air box is constantly disconnecting the battery. I figured this would be a better situation for it.

k&n supposed to be oiled already!!! you should call the company and tell them that your filter was not oiled from the factory!!!. all of mine k&n air filters were already oiled from the factory. i done bought like 9 cold air intakes and 7 k&n air filters not the C.A.I but just the air filters. i always get a improvement no matter which k&n air filter i use and also every time i get a new car i always get a k&n air filter for it always.

Don't forget to turn off the A/C for that extra boost of HP. 😅 🥺 Us PT owners know exactly what I'm talking about. Lol. 👍

you can check out my channel I have a few vids. MOPAR Stage 1 kit includes injectors and PCM (computer). PT cruiser GTs 04+ already have the bigger injectors so you would only need the ecu. you can find them used on eBay but you have to send it to get flashed to your VIN unless they offer it flashed. keep in mind when purchasing a stage 1 ecu you have to make sure the year and the transmission (auto or manual) match or it will not work! there is a process when you stage a AUTO PT but not for the STD version. add me of FB by searching uriel camara like on my channel if you need further info. I can probably get you a oem stage 1 print
