My wife purchased her PT new in 2002. It has 200,000 miles on it now with one engine rebuild. We were members of two PT Cruiser clubs and really had so much fun. Her license plate says PTPATTI. We were married 48 years when I lost her to cancer in 2020. I repainted the car, original colors, about a month ago - it looks brand new. I also modified it so I can now tow it behind my motorhome. Before she passed, I bought her a CRV as a daily driver. She always told me how much she loved the Honda but she always drove her Cruiser. I have never understood the negative attitude about the car - I too love them. Sometimes I just sit in the car and cry. Keep up the channel.

Stay strong brother. She'd love that you kept her PT going ❤️ I just bought a 06 with 60k on it, only had it a month. A rookie cop smashed into it 2 weeks ago while attempting to pull me over. Getting fixed December 8. Hope to enjoy it after this 🙁

Here's an update to my post a year ago. My grandson is now driving the PTPATTI Cruiser. 1/2 of his friends love the car and the others think it's ugly. No matter Jacob absolutely loves it. He even wants to keep the PTPATTI license plate. His grandma would be so happy.

I just got a 2007 PT cruiser as my first car. It needs a bit of work, but PT cruisers were some of the few cars who fit all my criterias : cheap, low milleage, and general good shape. My budget was 3000 CA$, and for that price most of the cars were rusted garbage with 250 000+ km on them. Also, my siblings and I were OBSESSED with PTs as kids, so it's kinda cool that I get to drive one now!

My mom gave me mine, she owned it for 6 years before me, I didn't like the cars looks at first, but after driving it for now 40k miles almost (03 Touring N/A Pearl Blue ODO 133K) and doing all the work I've done, Entire suspension overhaul front and rear, some vacuum hose work, new exhaust, new plugs, wires and ignition coil, changed the transmission fluid and filter, new wheels and spacers, new control arms, tierods, etc, new radiator fan. I've grown a great love for PTS and they've taught me everything I've basically ever done in terms of work on a car and I've still got a whole lot more I want to do, not a single check engine light besides for the occasional "evaportive control system" i.e didn't tighten the gas cap all the way lol, I've had no problems from it at all starts right up like nothing, and purrs like a kitten. and for the price of the parts, once you see how they're actually built underneath and inside you can see why they're nice car to throw money at and keep. and I swear every other car I drive now just doesn't feel the same. And there's so much more that I want to do too it, get a neon exhaust header, get the metal intake off a GT because the plastic manifold sucks, get it ported, get my throttle body ported, Finish my exhaust wrap, run a better Transmission oil cooler, make a skid plate for it, slowly build up the engine get a tuning chip etc etc. I honestly just don't see myself getting rid of it and if I had to I'd be finding a 5spd GT and I'd be swapping part's around. Anyhow thanks for all your videos, they've definitely have came in handy on more than one occasion and peace out.

I think that the entire PT community understand these cars more than the average joe. My parents have a PT and I’ve always loved the car since they got it, It was the car I also learned how to do everything on. Like you I didn’t know much about cars and just jumped in. The car has around 190,000 miles today and still starts right up and no engine lights, most reliable car I’ve owned yet. Also love the edits! 😂 Great Job on the Video!!

There's a reason Chrysler sold almost 1.5 million of those cars. I've never owned one, but I've known a few folks who kept theirs until it was close to being reclaimed by the earth. By the way my wife watched this one with me. She's a designer and tells me that that the pink hoodie works well for you. Something about complexion and hair and I don't know what else. Didn't you say it was your favorite once? Maybe I get my channel stars mixed LOL. Anyway, if it means anything there ya go! (She also says she thinks it's silly more men don't wear light pinks.)

Its only a few years ago I started following you and had more fun with my PT!! Mine not a GT but would love one. I own two 2001 bought 2x back in 2002 just incase something goes wrong. One was Garaged for 10 years the other my daily and at 294k km I sold it as an engine doner to a Dream Cruiser to for an engine transplant (Guy had stage 4 Cancer so I sold it to him very cheap) before that I transplanted every upgrade I had to my other Garaged baby with only 104k km Borla Exhaust, RB1, mostly all Mopar equipment, Racks, bWoody Morot mounts (Thanks to you too) Chrome side mirrors, Wiper sprays, Blings ,Goldline Super Salmmers etc.... I'm also in Many PT groups. I have alots of stuff related to PT's can't stop just can't stop the madness, People say its a money pit when things go wrong but does anyone just dump their kids and not try to heal them same as with my PT, when I die bury me inside alsong with my PT Cruiser.. I also so a few of my pals here too. Peace from Toronto Canada

This just about sums it up. I hated the PT Cruiser when my wife owned mine, then I drove it. And fell in love. I didn't admit that for a long time. But something about it just got under my skin, I cannot explain it. Those who own a PT, know this feeling well. I ended up buying the PT off my wife's family for $500, this car has been my first for a lot of repairs done by myself too. It's been superb fun to work on and repair. Some mechanics would laugh at me and tell me how hard it is to work on, but really other than a few scuffed knuckles it's fairly straight forward. I've had my share of people making rude or mean comments over the years 'clapped out hearse' was the last one. It's all water off a ducks back, because I know when I go to my local cruises and meets i am bringing something unique and different to the table. So few of us who actually work on PT's and modify them. I don't want to be 'just another golf' at the meet (No offense Golf squad). I've spent close to $6000 on my $500 PT and it's a project car, and we all know that they are never complete. Frankly, people can carry on shunning the PT and not buying them - it means there are more out there for me and those of us that love them. The PT community for me has been overwhelmingly friendly. Every single PT owner I have met wants to help eachother and share knowledge. You really don't need Google, just ask the PT community. Anyone calling them unreliable as talking out of their ass. You cannot expect reliability from ANY car that last rolled off the lot 11 years ago. They are old now, unreliable comes with the territory if previous owners dont maintain them correctly. I did 4500 miles round trip in mine without issue, because it's fully looked after and maintained. I'm not trying to plug here, but if anyone wants to check out my PT then go follow JunkTardis on instagram. And if you own a PT and aren't already subbed to this dude, you need to. His videos have been invaluable to me as a PT guy.

I wanted a PT the minute they came out-couldn't afford one then, but finally got a base one-owner 2002 that was 5 years old, and drove it for 16 years! It finally died, and I got an old Dakota pickup for super cheap, but it was just a "break-up" vehicle! I drove it for 3 years, and started looking at hatchbacks in general, but kept coming back to the PT's as my first love. I found a 2002 one-owner Series One Dream Cruiser a year ago, and this one is the best! I love the PT's because of the retro, quirky style, the amazing interior room, how much fun they are to drive, and that my car will never get lost in the crowd. FYI-check out Sha-Na-Na's "The Cat in the PT Cruiser". LOVE your channel!! And thanks from all of us PT lovers!

Why I love mine. The looks I get when driving mine with its insanely loud 3 inch straight pipe turbo back, with a huge fmic and loud blow off valve. They are great, they can do about anything you ask of them. It can drag race, its can time attack, it can road course, it can off road, it can haul. Everything. People ask me to race all the time. My PT has been down for maintenance in the last 13 yrs 3 times. hub bearings 2 of the time's, trans was the other. Its a surprisingly well built car. things like upgrades I dont count. I think the local SRT4 guys thing of me as the grandpa of the srt community and always show me respect when passing. Im glad them Teins still holding up for you. them things are like 10 yrs old now. But ya coilovers are fantastic. I have KW on mine and its very stiff. Def a booby bouncer. Also my PT hs about 190k now. its has a new head and trans. This winter I will put on a big turbo and rebuild the engine and mabey 5 speed ngv t-850 swap it.

I agree completely, the word is SLEEPER. My elderly neighbor, Gordon, bought his 2002 Limited, new, cash, as his FUN Daily Driver. He would just cruise with the moon roof open. Its the Pearl Taupe and that car never was left outside. 8 years ago Gordon got too sick to drive much, only put 300 miles on it in 5 years. Then he passed away. His car sat in the garage another 3 years, his devoted wife was just devastated. One day she suggests my grandson would be driving soon and it would be a great first car. I got it for 1400. a month ago. Dust covered and leaking fluids, my grandson was not even interested. So now I'm thinking....it needed the same work done as any car that hits 85,000. Im prone to doing maintenance way before the manufacturers guidlines. I suddenly realized the work I was preparing to put into my Honda Civic was the same work I would need to put into the PT. Well 1300. in parts later, I am SO HAPPY. Parts are cheap for PTs! The PT has tons of space, I hate trunks, hatchbacks are the only way to go for me. The PT has a nice solid body, it's not a tin can. After routine needed front end work and new tires it handles like a dream. My 2010 Honda Civic just doesnt come close on the Fun Meter! It is NOT a complicated car to work on. After seeing your videos and a bunch of others... the Honda is moving on and I'm thinking of a 2003-2005 PT GT! I think PTs just got a bad rap because some people dont like the way they LOOK. I think all youngsters should know the basics of how to maintain a car before they own one. My grandson isnt interested in working on cars at all. But my grandaughter is!! If I can work on this car, anyone can! As for reliability....everyone in my family is always saying , " How come you have such luck with cars, why are you never broke down in a car?". I'm 63 and I've owned many vehicles, most manual transmissions. The secret is called routine maintenance! All vehicles need routine maintenance and most people do not take decent care of their cars. I have owned a variety, including a big Ford dually MANUAL. That truck was old but I shopped for the year and it could tow a fully loaded 35 foot trailer with ease, while new trucks would be crawling. I'm an older model myself and I'm still working, out performing people 30 years younger. Why? Some years just made better wine, cars and workers. I have loved cars my entire life. I think in time the PTs will be a cult collectors car and because they are Sleepers, now is the time to find a GT!

So, we just completed a full custom conversion to a PT we bought specifically to convert into a beach woody. Full glass out respray, the works. Car looks great and wish I could post a pic here but can’t. As for the car itself, I never disliked the cruiser before owning one, and I don’t dislike them now, yet I never owned one during the years they were super popular. I’m pleased I own it now and will never part with it especially considering the money we poured into ours. So far it’s been faultless now I’ve fixed all the issues it had from when I bought it and it’s got years of life ahead of it. Big inspiration on the cruiser has been watching your channel. You’re never afraid to take on a job with these cars and I really like that. In summary, PT Cruiser....a classic when it was launched and even more of a classic now. They’re getting hard to come by in good condition so don’t wait too long before picking one up. I’m even considering restoring another one into a different theme from the Woody. I’m just gutted the GT version was never available here in the U.K. Also, it’s irrelevant what people think of it. Now ours is finished, where-ever we go with it people want their picture with it or pics of the car, so they can’t be that unpopular.

Bought a nonrunning 01 PT that was garage kept it's first18 years. Then it sat outside under a tree until 2 weeks ago and suffered just what you'd expect. Dash cracked, paint ruined, sap encrusted surface is the worst of it. I plan on bringing it back to be my daily driver and have washed and power sprayed several times. The undercarriage, interior and engine area are in spectacular condition which is a huge plus. Planning on a custom paint scheme ( it's black ) and ridding the rust. You have a great channel, keep up the good work.

Well done video. I like how camera-comfortable you are, but especially your confidence. I’m recently retired and have been searching for an inexpensive ragtop with 4 seats. And the kicker…was hoping to find something ‘knee-friendly’ when it comes to ingress/egress. In other words something with a little taller seat height. Needless to say, Slim pickens… the PT and Nissans just as quirky - but much more $$$- Murano convertible the only models I could find aside from going Jeep Wrangler route. PT Cruisers kept popping up in my filtered search and after rabbit-holing PT trim levels I decided I’d seek out a pampered and relatively low mileage 05/06 GT. I then opened my KZread app and was shocked to find so many PT hate vids. I’m fully aware these cars far from perfect but was taken back at how much PT “vitriol” I saw. Discouraging yes, but I’m undaunted and am so glad I just found your video. I appreciate your depth of knowledge as well as your positive take on these oddly charming little Mopars. Many thanks and please keep up the good work!

I always enjoy my 2001 PT Cruiser Limited. I bought it new with all available options. I added a few "bells & whistles" over the years and it's been a fun reliable car. I've always maintained it and it's been completely dependable. I'm a tall man and the high roof line makes it easy to get in and get out with plenty of headroom. The interior has held up well and the suede/leather seats have a nice patina. I've never owned a car this long. My other cars were mostly 2-3 year leases and the PT Cruiser always "reigned supreme" for me. I have around 77K miles on the car which is considered "low mileage" for its age. I'll keep it as long as possible and as long as parts remain available. It's just that enjoyable to own.

I bought it as a beater/spare car so I can get to work when my daily driver is down for any reason. I'll be honest, once all the work has been done, I have the feeling my PT Cruiser will become the actual daily driver.

After my 2007 V6 Mustang that was in excellent condition for 250,000 miles got hit three times in a year. I figured it was time for something practical. I bought a 2008 n/a wagon for $25 hundred. I loved it, though it was a bit slow for me. It would lose speed going up hills. Last October, I spotted a 2005 gold convertible GT on a lot. Chrome 5 spoke wheels and lowered about two inches. I had to have it. It had a good carfax history with about 50 dealer maintaina

I have a 2003 and its the best handling car i have ever drove. It rides really good and its the perfect size. It gets around anywhere. mine has 99,000 miles and the engine was just rebuilt because it sat for years. It hugs the road and is smooth. It also feels like it’s made very sturdy

Only car I ever bought new was a 2002 PT. Just went to the junk yard because I forgot to replace the timing belt. There's a lesson there. But I just got a 2003 GT and it is a total blast to drive. The extra horsepower from the turbo and the autostick are very fun. If you remove the back seats and spare tire you can get even more acceleration. I carry a lot of stuff around for my balsa wood airplane hobby. I can easily get twice as much into the PT as I can get into my Toyota crew cab. Why do I like it? Well, I have a 1950 Studebaker hot rod lowrider convertible and a 1951 Studebaker Starlight coupe. That should give you a hint right there.

Maintenance records. It had 190,000 miles on it, so I knew what it needed without asking . A timing belt/ water pump. I bought it anyway. I took a lot to get it where I wanted it mechanically . But the fun of driving it is worth it. I've looked and found I'm almost at a 100 mph sometimes. Between the Mustang and the two Miatas I've owned, this is the best of both worlds.

I have a 2006 PT Cruiser with an odd issue. Within the last year or so my gas guage will no longer show above 1/4 tank, even when I top it off. When I get the low fuel warning I reset a trip odometer so I can keep track of the miles while it says this. I recently went really far and the engnine power level goes out and comes back and all of my idiot lights come on and go off. It actually stopped running while I drove, but restarted and drove again. Is there a sensor to reset or replace? I'd love to hear if this has happened to anyone else.

They’re probably not as efficient and not quite as quick because they’re classified as a truck basically I mean they’re classified as not a car I know that and they are a little heavier but they do provide that cool deep dashboard to the wraparound windshield and they do give you plenty of seating space and cargo space and yes they are just freaking cool remind me of the old Volkswagen philosophy and they even kind of resemble a Volkswagen

I still appreciate the Cruisers. Huge fan of the styling. I'm still frustrated with their incompetence to function properly. Even when they're taken care of, they can't be helped as they get older. That's 2000's Chrysler for you. And I know because I used to have one. 06 GT Convertible with the 5 Speed Getrag. I'm surprised the head gaskets didn't go out. However the A/C and the turbo did. Also, don't even get me started on the hydraulic pump for the top. Legend has it that Mercedes provided those.

I like the ride comfort and the the interior styling on the Gen 2. Also i like how they raised the dashboard height in the Gen 2 so it doesnt feel like im driving low to the ground. Lol. Look wise.....meh. i gen 1 looked blah but the gen 2 has better curves and about an inch higher than the gen 1 and gen 2 looked better imo. But, all in all the ride comfort and hoe small it was got.me to like it. I got into places that other cars couldnt and that is another thing i liked about it. I also liked the gas mileage I got in my Gen 2. I averaged between 26-32mpg. But mostly 26. I do contest the reliability claims and how people say they dont last. If taken care of they WILL last. Had a 2001 (was my dads but I ended up buying it off him when my cobalt crapped out) and in total between his drivinf and mine, it lasted us 15 years and 288k hard driven miles.
