JVC Everio GZ-MG670 1080p upscaling camcorder review & test
Ғылым және технология
One of a rare breed of camcorder which records in standard definition and then upscales to 1080p60 via its HDMI output. Of course the video quality wasn't nearly as good as true HD, but for $250 less than a comparably equipped HD camcorder from JVC at the time (in 2009), maybe faking it was good enough.
p.s. This is old footage that I put off until I finally got an Internet connection fast enough to make uploading 1080p60 video possible without taking all day.

I have a fairly similar (but thankfully more minor) issue with my JVC GZ-MS100. Sometimes if you open the LCD the camcorder won't power on automatically, but I can still press the power button. However if I close the LCD then open it again, it powers on just fine. I don't know if they all do that, or if it's just my particular unit. But I figured it's worth nothing. No issues with the cracking flex cable so far, LCD remains on when swiveling the display up & down. However I've also heard the cheaper Panasonic SD camcorders from this era are also prone to the cracking flex cables for the LCD.
Thank you
Can I ask you two questions?. 1) What would you suggest is the best camcorder for night vision for say 300 dollars ?. 2) is there any camcorders that do good night sky videos, I want to record stars etc... Many thanks.
That’s some nice SD video coupled with borderline fraudulent advertising 👌
The CMOS battery may need to be replaced for the date/time to stick. I know that my more modern Canon camera had that issue and resolved it replacing the CMOS battery.

But wouldn't a dead backup battery cause the camcorder to lose all of its settings, not just the date and time?
The Amiga mod music starts playing at 10:26.

I had the same JVC MS-230 i lost it when i moved. I replaced my JVC MS-230 flex cable. It was an easy repair.
have you tried capturing other analog devices to the camcorder like a vcr or a handycam playing back video?
can you tell me the place from where you got the charger
Hi thank you for your video, I have same camcorder but I lost the power cord do you know where I can buy it please?
The only camcorder that I know about that also has a video input that captures those to MOD files is my Panasonic SV-AV100 from 2003 (which will only work with its included 512MB card so that's not quite as useful as that 80GB HDD). Personally, I'd prefer my MiniDV camcorder for captures, but this would be nice for...well, I'll be honest, I dunno. Does this capture interlaced input? I'm kind of tempted to get one in order to see if "1080p" deinterlaces to 60p (and if so, if it looks any good).

The captured video and video recorded through its own camera are in the same format: 480i MPEG2 video with AC3 audio, saved as MOD files.

Right, so I actually picked one of these up to try recording the HDMI output with a 1080p60 capable HDMI capture card. Long story short, it looks pretty damn good. Deinterlacing with QTGMC looks about as good, but the HDMI output has ever so slightly sharper video than upscaling deinterlaced video (that meaning such is only practical in very specific situations, but I just had to give it a try).
What camera are you using to record this video?
Is there a way to hook up an external mic only and not video? I want better audio by using a boom mic.
What's the song at 10:25
mine wont charge properly. think its just needs a replacement battery?
I have one does it support external mic
decent quality
Did you see how this channel was mentioned in the episode of Linus Tech Tips where he looked at the Unicomp Model-M keyboards?

where can you get replacement Hd?
I had this camera, what a disappointment because it wasn't full HD. Mine had a small remote control with it.
can you record with this by using charger only (if battery dies), also, do you need a SD memory card or can you use built in HDD ? thanks

Yes, you can operate it with the AC adapter, and you can record either to the built-in hard drive or to an SD card.
I own that Samsung smx k40 that camera is good tho the audio quality is great

Probably 32 GB. Use SDHC. It will not work with SDXC cards.
