I had bells palsy a few years ago too. I absolutely freaked out, went to see my doctor, who coincidentally had it too. He promised me that it would go away completely in weeks. He was right, everything went fully back to normal by week 4. Very weird how seemingly out of nowhere this strikes, and then completely clears up. I was deathly afraid tho bc my aunt suffered with bells palsy her entire life. How do drs know which is permanent and which patients go back to 100% functionality?

When I got mine I went to 3 doctors, each having different causes for it. It did leave for a week, but because at the time I was under lots of stress and it came back and never left💔 I wish this dr.that had it would give me advice on what or where to go. I miss my smile so much. Still after all these years, very self conscious about it😔

@@pamglastetter455Aw honey, I'm so sorry to hear that 🥺💔 I know how devastating dealing with this is. I too had a bout of heavy stress at that time. I have an excellent Dr and he diagnosed it, but he also gave me a steroid (Prednisone) which is supposed to help. I had it just as bad as Justin in the vid, and I originally thought I pinched a nerve in the face until I went to Dr. Idk if he gave me anything else, but prescribing the steroid is common practice everywhere. Keeping your stress and anxiety at bay is so so important for any kind of health/ healing. And it can strike anytime, anywhere. I hope you feel better sweetheart! This is a fairly common ailment unfortunately, so many of us know exactly what you're going through. Stay healthy and strong! ♥️😊

I've had bells palsy for 18 years. I hate it,I never smile because it's so crooked on my left side. It started with left half of my tongue going completely numb. Next morning I couldn't open my left eye on my own and the paralysis on my whole left side of face. I've heard acupuncture can get rid of it,is there any help for me?? I miss my big pretty smile!!!😃 Thank you,Pam Glastetter

His wife reportedly had some ministrokes, so it must have been extra scary for him to get this. I usually comfort patients on saying, that it is not a stroke, is is benign (though very tough and recovery is up to you body), and sometimes that helps a bit on the distress. But he almost certainly would have thought to have a stroke like his wife and felt very scared. Speedy recovery for you Justin.

My ex husband had Bell's palsy first on his left side then on his right. It took a very long time for his face to recover. He couldn't swallow right when he ate, he has to use an ointment in his eye so his eye wouldn't dry out. He has to wear a patch at night when he slept because his eye didn't fully close. He had to drink through a straw because his nerves in his mouth didn't work on one side. If he tried to drink from a regular cup, he would spill it all over himself. It was a horrible thing to watch someone go through. He actually got this after he was in a bad car accident. The doctor said his nerves were damaged due to the trauma from the accident.

Crazy how varicella , (chicken pox line of viruses) Can do this ! I was vaccinated for chicken pox @ 38. Never got them ! They tested me too, and sure enough, nope. So when my one and only child was born, of course later, we had to get vaccinated together.
