We need to talk about why ALIREZA is still getting invites. Dude is getting massacred in classical every time he plays (candidates and Norway). Arjun is 30 points higher rated and unlike other players, is willing to always play lower competition to try to get better (even though the risk to reward ratio is low). Give him a shot…

Problem is that out of the last 17 classical games, he won 10 and drew 7. This is perhaps one of the greatest winning streaks in top level classical chess. However he gained only 15 odd points in the process. Because every time he draws he looses 2 points and every time he wins he wins only 3 or 4. Thankfully he has not lost any game in the process. If he does (which is a statistical inevitability), he is going to loose all his gains in one go. So Arjun has to realize that he is now among the top few players in the world and has to play closer to his rating. This is a tough thing to do especially when you have a meteoric rise in rating, as it suddenly shrinks the window of the kind of tournaments that you should be playing, especially if you are not getting the invites that you deserve.

  • @sandeepshetty1589

He won another one BTW. Now it is an 18 game streak, of 11 wins and 7 draws. There is all sorts of records happening here. He has played these 18 games in less than a month (25 days). He is pretty much playing every day for 6 hours. So it is 11 wins in less than a month without a loss. Someone has to really love the game to burn out like that. Another one is that among these are the 6 wins he has with black pieces out of 9 games, with 3 draws. With white he only has 5 wins in 9 games, with 4 draws. He has won more games with black pieces.

@7:44... why can't you push the g7 pawn?? That forces the white queen to move all the way back, as every space is covered by a black piece (with possibly the exception of g4 or f5, as not sure if black queen can move away). The black bishop not only controls the only gap made by pawn push, it also guards the e5 pawn. It just seems like it guards everything, and even frees up the black knight to move into.

@@Mediocrity.Unleashed Try reading for comprehension. I never said Hans was a top player. I said he faced the same problem Arjun was talking about. Which was not getting invites to top events and having to play in open tournaments. As Arjun and Hans commented that they're usually the top player in these open tournaments and have to face underrated players. Like someone rated 2550 is really a 2650 player. It's hard to win points when everyone is lower rated than you. All that being said, Hans is a super Grandmaster now, so he isn't Swiss cheese. I'll wait to see how he does against Vidit. I wonder why Arjun believes he isn't being invited to closed tournaments. I'm sure, though, that we could look to some degree and figure out why it is that he is not being considered for open tournaments. Perhaps he is not in the "in" with the most social of the bunch--it's kinda like the career of Nodirbek Yakubboev. No one else battles against the King's Indian like Yakubboev, but it seems that the larger bureaucracy does not want to see him on a larger stage. Why is it that we don't get to see the likes of Yakubboev and Erigaisi in these "closed" tournament? Yakubboev certainly has at least a better skillset than Ian and would've had a better world championship match against Magnus than him--what makes him more worthy of opportunities than Yakubboev? Digression.

Tamil guys are very biased towards their own state mates (not complaining). Arjun was part of the Westbridge Academy but parted ways with WestBridge Anand Chess Academy (WACA) as he signed a long-term sponsorship deal with Quantbox Research for Rs 12.4 crore in December 2022. Arjun said that WACA was very helpful to him, but at some point, he had to decide to walk away from it and someone else would get his spot. and for ur 2nd point, until now Arjun hasn't done anything spectacular like beating top players like Magnus or winning the major tournament and all and no reporters have asked questions to vishy sir about him in an interview but yeah Vishy sir has praised him multiple times whenever he talks about Indian youngsters he did mention Arjun every time. vishy sir had congratulated Arjun on Winning Tata Steel and many other events Arjun has achieved this success this year he will definitely get recognized soon by everyone and I'm also a big fan of his aggressive play
