    On any given day, Ivanchuk's playing either on 3000 or 2000 ELO level. This appears to be the latter case unfortunately. Still, always a delight seeing his games. Wonder what it'd look like had Spassky coached him for WC

    It's easy to look weak when you lose the game. Not fair at all to say this is 2000 level chess.

    Spassky's insight on Ivanchuk being too scared to become WC is interesting (assuming it's true). I came away from the last WC match with the same opinion of Nepo. There were probably three different times in that match where he could've walked away with the win, but instead chose to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory. While he appeared to wither in the face of true success each time, DIng seized the one opportunity Nepo gave him and immediately plunged the knife.

    at 2:14 it was really nice to hear that “this position is completely new” at the time the game has been played but it was also nice to hear that “this position has never been reached again” for the older games, like you used to say in the previous videos

    Haha, I've played hundreds of games like this where I blunder early then decide to just go all out in attacking the opponent's king. That usually fails but it is better than a slow loss I guess

    Actually, I've figured it out. The knight defends bc3 hence why Magnus didnt use it to capture kd4
