Just the fights: Cheesecake at GSRCL Championship 2023
Ғылым және технология
The full recap video of Cheesecake at this tournament is limited below, but sometimes you just want to see the robots fight, so here is "just the fights" from the 2023 GSCRL Championship. Cheesecake is my 1lb combat robot, a smaller version of the robots you might have seen on BattleBots or Robot Wars.

They need some camera box locations or a top down. So many reflections

They're working on a camera system, but I understand the challenge of managing multiple cameras. I'm planning to get a polarizing filter for my own camera and basically just take care of my own recording as best I can.

Wooooo let’s go another cheescake video
For those curious about the intro song: Rats Rats we are the Rats! Celibrate- yet another birthday bash!

the armor stripping on fight 2 was like something out of a videogame boss fight!

Finally got to a video early! Have a few questions for you. 1. You have a 1lb weight limit. Are there any other restrictions? Battery, materials, etc.? Where can I find them? 2. How'd you get/make your CF plates? They look like a mess to fabricate. (Also, what did it cost, if you don't mind me asking?) 3. What did you CAD in, and could I take a look? 4. What does your weight distribution look like? I.e., .4lb weapon system, .3lb drive and control, .3lb frame 5. I noticed that your countersinks in your CF plates were a little bit messy, and assumed they were hand drilled. Isn't drilling carbon fiber generally not recommended, since it messes with the fibers and creates a weak point? Does it matter at all in this situation? 6. You state every printed part as being made of TPU. Why that particular material? 7. What made you go with the asymmetrical horizontal spinner? If any of these don't make sense, it's probably because my background is in FIRST robotics, not combat robotics.

Hello! Thanks for your comment! 1. The complete ruleset is here: sparc.tools/ 2. The carbon fiber plates were made by SendCutSent.com, but it looks like CNCMadness.com has better prices for carbon fiber plates specifically. 3. I use OnShape, which is way better than Fusion in my opinion. 4. My weapon system is actually only about 100 grams total, with my weapon being about 50 grams. I store a lot of kinetic energy by spinning it really fast. 5. Yeah, I hand-drilled my countersinks, and it worked well enough, but the fact that the screws ripped out in my fight against Mudskipper may speak to your point. 6. My side armor is TPU, as is the collet holding my weapon onto my motor, and my wheels. TPU is incredibly wear resistant and shock-absorbing, so for things that are going to see big impacts, I use TPU. Rigid plastics tend to shatter or break along the 3D-printed layer lines. 7. I wanted a horizontal spinner because it would be more fun to drive (vertical spinners have to fight the gyroscopic forces when they turn), and I chose an asymmetric spinner in order to get enough "bite" even as I spin my weapon really fast: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZdtsteRlaaYdrA.html
Man love your vids in England we have a steam day where you get to do a very cheap robot wars
I made an audible gasp when I saw cheesecake get demolished in the original video
Please rebuild cheese cake we need him the world needs cheese cake
Poor cheesecake, but god damn it took massive hits
Hello there! Where are your next upcoming battles/events? The hubs and I are Cheesecake fans and would love to come cheer you on if we can!!

That would be awesome! I'm actually moving right now, so I'm not entirely sure when I'll be able to resume competing, but I would hope to be able to attend the tournament linked below: October 28, in Hartford CT. Feel free to send me an email to check if I'll be there before you make any plans as the date gets closer. www.robotcombatevents.com/events/1158 You can also check out the next GSCRL tournament on October 1st if you'd like to hang out with the people I usually compete against in New Jersey. Nomad, Lowbot, and Shin Kicker will be there! I just don't have time to get everything ready by then. www.robotcombatevents.com/events/1151
Not sure what the rules are but: Fill your body with Great Stuff or packing foam. Use plastic bags to separate/contain it so you can take it apart.
Please we need are cheese cake
I wonder how cheesecake will modify it's armor against something like this next

I have some ideas! But they will require a redesign of the chassis, so it'll be a hot minute before this new version of Cheesecake is ready to kick some butt!

I use FlashHobby 2822 1800KV motors, but there are several different KV values you can buy of these motors. KV is just RPM per volt, so a 1000 KV motor running on 11.1 volts should theoretically spin at 11,100 RPM. palmbeachbots.com/products/flash-hobby-d2822-brushless-outrunner-1800kv-0-125in-shaft-viper-compatible
Can i ask what material did you use for cheesecakes chassis also what transmitter and receiver do you use

The chassis is made of carbon fiber and TPU. My transmitter and receiver are the Flysky Noble NB4. There is also a 6-channel version.
NOOOOOOOOO CHEEESECAKE DIDINT WIN TYE WHOLE TOURNAMENT 😢
How do you even begin to beat the design of the last bot? Somehow out range it or attack the weapon directly?

I did not, I'm sorry, it must have gotten buried.
Can someone tell me why there are no stake driver bots? Why not just use a hydrolic piston and pressurized air to impale other robots? If you could get it to self arm, it would be slow but one good shot would take out any other robot like that. Is there a rule for this or did ppl simply not figure out how that works jet. (Call it Van Helsing if you manage to make one xd).

well i know that full on projectiles aren’t allowed e.g a gun type of weapon and maybe what u are talking about falls into that category but i’m not 100% sure. i do construction and we have this device that uses blank bullets to fire a nail through half inch steel, if u could put that on a bot it would win so quickly

@@hazza2247 I mean driving a spear that doesn't leave the robot through another, theoreticly shouldn't be counted as shooting. I didn't find anything online on the topic but someone has to have thought about this before me.

I think the Battlebot "Bale Spear" tried this. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to have enough power to actually penetrate an opponent. Plus, you have to line it up just right. The closest thing engineering-wise would be a flipper (pneumatic or hydraulic), which might just be a better way to use stored fluid energy. In contrast, the Battlebot "Blip" is so innovative because it stores energy in a spinner, which is incredibly energy-dense while also being able to release that energy very quickly. Maybe you could do something similar where a spinner drives a spear. Although, maybe a drill is just a better way to pierce through an opponent, and I've seen that done on other antweight robots. battlebots.fandom.com/wiki/Bale_Spear
@v.3T

@@alexsalchemy a drill would require you to pin other bots down tho. I've been thinking, maybe you could use pressurized air canisters as ammo to fuel the weapon. With enough bar, you could make the strength of that comperable to a gun. You'd require a mag of those tho, wich takes up a lot of space and weight while also being very suceptible to breaking. You could just use blanks, but that would probably be illegal because it would pose a threat to the audience and drivers. I'd really love and try to build this myself, but I neither have the knowlage nor the time with a company to run and music to produce. Well either way I'm just a keyboard warrior that probably doesn't know what he's talking about. I'd love to see someone try, since my love for engeneering recently got rekindled watching Cheesecake rip chum apart lol.
