Jory, this watch competes with Oris and Sinn. You really hit a home run with the quality and design. ❤ thousands and thousands of decisions go into making a product like this and we can see your hard work has paid off. 🎉

@@dukirpsit really really really doesn’t compete with Oris or Sinn. Don’t get me wrong this watch Jody has made is excellent value and is a fantastic entry into watches and dive watches. But let’s not get silly and say it competes with brands that cost over $2-3k and most in the Watch world believe are crazy value at even those prices. Sinn might be arguably the best tool watch brand on the entire market - at any price point. And Oris is a genuine luxury entry level independent brand with one of the best in-house movements available below $5-6k. I’m certain even Jody himself would laugh uncontrollably at anyone suggesting this Erebus is even in the same ball park as an Oris or Sinn. Again this is not to devalue the Erebus. It looks a fine watch and good value at $300. But thats all it is - a Chinese made watch with a basic $20 movement. Ali express is full of these watches at similar prices. Jody will smash it with this and he deserves too, people will buy it for the connection to him and rightly so, watches should speak to us in some way to add value.

You can tell that this watch was designed by a watch enthusiast. This watch has many features that watch enthusiasts want in a watch. And like that at a really affordable price. The choice of movement is also clever. It is a robust and reliable movement from Seiko. A perfect combination of design, features and technology. All in all a perfect price-performance ratio. But an important question remains unanswered. What diameter does the sapphire crystal have? The size is also important for the effect of the watch on the wrist. I don't normally wear a watch larger than 40mm. However, I have the SPB317. This has a diameter of 41mm, but wears like a 39mm watch because the bezel is only 39mm in diameter and the glass is 31mm in diameter. So what diameter is the glass?

We all like Jody and wish him the best. Out in the real world, at least where I live, anything besides a smart watch is uncommon. In a way, hanging out with you guys is the only proof of being half ass sane when it comes to love of the hobby.
This often gets overlooked but the font on the bezel insert is awesome. Distinct, fresh, I love it.

Double Ditto to ya'll !!!🎉😊 "Grass roots" gonna take over the industry . Come on March 2024, and my Blue on Blue Origin. And to you Jory I gotta say... well said, well met and we can all feel the love brother.
I don't believe that this watch brand can fail in any way. I'm sure Jodi and Steven will build on the success of their flagship and offer more in the future.
Unfortunately, no review but a product description 😕
I really like how the square on the second hand lines up with the square hour markers to match the rectangular hour markers. Very satisfying to watch. I pre-ordered the blue dial version, and now after seeing this review, I can't wait until they are ready to ship! Very happy for Jody on this launch, I think he knocked it out of the park!

A very nice detail that most people won't notice, but will appreciate just because it happens.
An applied silver logo & indices would’ve pushed me over the edge. Love the size & the second hand. Clearly, this was a softer review & for good reason.

More of a reach-around than a review
I have to say, I didn't know of Jody or his channel before he annouced his watch. His video about the watch popped up in my feed and I decided to give it a watch. His passion for the project and his description of his design decisions are what sold me. I have read criticism that it looks similar to other divers, but as someone who doesn't really own any divers because its not typically a style I go for, It will still be a new design for me. I put in my preorder and I'm excited to follow along on this journey. Thanks for putting out this video, Time Teller!

This title. LMFAO. 😂
Great looking watch from Jody! My favorite design element is the square section of the seconds hand mirroring up with the indices…so slick!
This is an extremely safe design, which is understandable for a first watch, but I believe their next one needs to be truly unique and special. They have to develop their own design language.

I think on paper it sounds really great, but for me personally a watch should be more than just a spec sheet, and while there's very little to complain about, I also can't find much to get excited about either. I tried to psych myself up for this but couldn't - but I'll keep an eye out for the next Erebus release and see if it changes my mind.

I agree. The price is very good though which should turn some sales his way but ya the watch doesn't stand out amongst the crowd IMO
LOVE IT! I love the hands, the indices, the minute hand, the small pop of color, beautiful dial, the 6 o’clock date window. Absolutely nailed it on these. On my wish list now!
Love Jody and JOMW and respect what he has delivered through his channel over the time he's been doing his reviews. So much in fact I bought the Arcaido from his 2022 SOTC recap video and was high bidder on the MR-G he auctioned during the rally fundraiser! I have my order in for a black, red, teal and blue for myself and to give as gifts. I wish him much success!
I have my on the blue one with the blue bezel on the flat link bracelet. I'm one of those who prefer something under 40mm but having seen the way that bracelet drops flexibly from the lugs I think it will wear smaller than the round link version. Love that textured dial and a great option for a rugged daily driver. It's a also been said you buy the seller rather than the product and Jody seems to be one of the good guys.
as someone with low vision I really appreciate the fence post hands. I also love the dial colors, the red one really sticks out to me..
Fair review, of course, George. I'm still deciding on a dial/strap combo and the great camerawork helps. I don't have any problem with NH movements especially at this price point as I value longevity and low cost replacement. My Seiko Monster has been rock solid and as accurate as when new for nearly 20years. It's also as accurate as a younger basic ETA 2824 diver I have which may eventually cost more than this entire watch to replace the movement or a fair chunk of that to have it serviced.
Well-said intro on Jody and JOMW, and I totally agree. I anticipated his watch excitedly and was on his site the minute it opened. I did not buy, however… It is certainly a beautiful watch, but just does not offer anything different to me. It reminds me of Helm, which in itself is not a bad thing. 41mm is perfect, in my opinion. The thing that bothers me is that it is ‘too safe’, ticking all boxes too well. It just lacks originality, something quirky, that I was hoping for. While it is not for me, I congratulate Jody and Mr P. on this excellent watch.
Classy Review Jody, nice job!
Great review. I ordered the blue version and am glad to hear you like the watch. Keep at it!
I like the watches but I don't like the payment in full vs a deposit to get a watch placement. If they where getting deliveries started next month then fine but to pay in full and then wait 4-5 months is too much time to have that money tied up when I have a lot of watches I am after. Also I wish they had done maybe two model specs with the cheap well priced Seiko movement offer and then a high beat offering eg 9000 series Miyota for $100 more type deal. Now that is not meant to be an attack on the watch but just a personal view of myself and others that would like to pick one up but can't tie up the funds for that long as it means pushing back other watches I would buy between now and release date.
Good review. I am a fan of both channels.
I love the black dial but really liked the orange as well. Already have a couple of black dial divers so I ordered the orange. And now we wait. Patiently wait. Patiently. Great job Jory. It felt like an honest review and not some plug for a friend. I’m sure Jody appreciates the honesty.
@murph8411
7 ай бұрын
The only thing that I didn’t like about the close up on the orange was the lume and printing on the dial wasn’t perfect but I’m sure you wouldn’t notice normally. Some of the printing not being perfect may be due to the texture of the dial which means the lumps stop perfect squares and lines from being printed easily.
Jody was one of my inspirations , good luck buddy and great review TT
Been watching both of your channels for a long time. Two good dudes that I would trust as well. Love these new releases. Great value as you said.
I really love it. My favorite thing is the big bold hands with plenty of surface area for lume!
I think it’s a really solid looking blend of a lot of familiar watches. Brilliant! I would love to see his take on a Willard’esque diver. I think he is onto something here. At least for people, who love watches and can appreciate how many boxes he’s ticking when you consider the price.
I purchased the black version. I like the brushed stainless look. Great review.
Purple ordered 💜, love the yellow accents, something a bit different for my collection. I get a March bday present for myself and get to support one of my favourite content creators at the same time. Win-win! 😊

I like the distinct styling of this watch. It really has it's own small details that stand out from the crowd without being in-your-face. Groovy!
I am BIG time fan of you two guys! I bought a lot of watches because of you two, that's for sure....lol. Greeting from Bulgaria, all the best and thank you for always staying fresh and 100% honest. These days seems like that's actually a LOT to be and people and supporters can somewhat always see/feel that! Keep up the good work - telling the time ;)
Nice piece ! Orange dial is my favourite. No snobbery against an NH35, I have two micro brands with it inside already.
Thank you for your honest opinion. Planning to purchase one as a fellow Sydneysider and having purchased a watch from him just recently!
Great review! I totally felt the same way about the NH35 but then asked myself what movement would be better and I have no idea. Do you?
Great watches, nice design and case finishing. I don't know why, but I like the red dial one. The size is perfect, 41 mm is not bad, I have 42 mm ones and love them. So I want the red one. 👍👍👍
Well done, nice to see a good product being supported by trusted reviewers.
Unfortunately I’m not in the market for another micro NH35 . Solid attempt
Love it. The logo is very clever. E and B created from a crosshair. The more I see the black one the more I want it.
Love that bracelet... and its very similar seiko Samurai crown that fits perfectly in its guards not over hanging... Black date wheel a huge plus too..Trusty NH35 we all love and are bomb proof... Has a Helm vanuatu look which ive been on there waiting list for so long now ive given up lol.. Well done Jody its an awesome dive watch and ill try save me pennies n buy the black dial variant some time in future....
Foe me the best feature of this watch is it’s completeness. It has everything. Check, check, check, check, check. I don’t find it exceptionally nice, but it’s so complete that you just can’t say NO to it. Specially I would emphasize micro adjustments, quick release, super luminova, 200m, sapphire, legibility, brushed, overall design. It has all the little extras most brands miss in one or another way.
I picked up the white dial. Looking forward to it's arrival. I like how focused and "toolish" (that's a word....) this watch seems to be. And it is nice to be suporting Jody and his business partner. He definitely understands what enthusiasts want as well as value.
Jody isn't the only one behind the brand, sir. His business partner, Steven Parker, is as well. Poor Steven doesn't get enough credit. Other reviewers, like Peter Kotsa, also mentioned Jody as the sole creator-which isn't true! However, I'm very excited to receive my white dial version next year!
I can't thank Jody enough (and the Timeteller too!) for what he has given to the watch community for years via his channel! I have opened KZread for many years, always looking forward to one of his review videos appearing on my feed. Really wish him success with the Erebus watches! I think I will definitely buy one once the brand has established itself (I feel, this time he was playing it safe to launch successfully, to begin with) and can be more adventurous! In the meantime, I would love to see a watch channel doing a series on how a person goes about creating a micro-brand in this industry. The designers, the factories, the business side of things etc, etc. That would be awesome content since no channel seems to have done it yet for some reason. Maybe it's your turn now to create a micro brand and document the journey, Jory?
First, let me say that that's a gorgeous watch. It is exactly what I'd be looking for, for daily wear. I think the case size is good (I have no qualms about the 41mm diameter), the dial, handset and markers are gorgeous, and the bracelets look good. I don't care too much for date windows but having one positioned at 6 o'clock is fine. Problems are twofold though - it's swimming in a sea of similar microbrands and while Jody is a known entity and a great guy, it's still got a lot of competition. Second is that date window - it would be nice if it matched the dial colour, even nicer if there was a no date option. Thirdly, the movement is solid, well chosen and budget friendly, but really pedestrian. A Miyota 9-series would have elevated the watch, even better a Landeron/Ronda/Selita - albeit at a premium. These are minor, and personal, gripes though. I definitely have an Erebus on my watch list (pun intended), and wish Jody all the success in the world.
I love it when the community watch tubers come together to support each other. Congratulations Jody on all your success 🎉 As for the watch, I’m definitely looking forward to purchasing one. Wish it was a tad bit thinner, maybe quartz but a beautiful watch nonetheless.
Good to hear positive feedback on the Erebus from you,,, if anyone knows how a watch should look, feel n run, that would be you n Jody,, so I have no problem ordering an Erebus
Congratulations Jody and Jory , this is one good looking watch. well done.
You can´t make a mistake buying this watch. It is not a question of quality or price. Both is fine. But it is a question of personal taste. I love this sandpaper dial and the fact that you can get different straps additionally for 35 Dollar. But for my taste the hands are a bit too fat and the numbers on the bezel are more cramped which is not so pleasing for the eye. But that is somehow quibbling. Would like to have the red one. But including the additional straps and VAT I would have to spend about 400 € here in Germany which I unfortunately have to invest in new brakes for my car ...
I agree with your assessment of Jory’s watch. Although I’m not a dive watch fans I really like the look and specs at this price point. I am curious though, why did you give him a pass on not having drilled lugs?
You might want to look into a brand called Corazon Del Mar. It’s a micro brand founded by a German watch KZreadr, basically a colleague, producing high end and interesting watches
The Orange and White dial's are gorgeous. I love that squared second hand, it would be perfect on my Marathon GSAR.
That sounded much more like an AI generated advertisement than it did a watch review.

Yea, thats not a review. Its a promotion favour
I really like these watches. Love Jody's videos. I might go with the red dial to mix it up
Good look at the Erebus Origin from JOMW. Both of you always provide great content. I would have liked it to be 40mm but 41mm is ok for me. The specs and price are great and I wish them all success. So as fellow Scot I am not at all biased. 😇
Cannot wait to see what Erebus do next. A pilot watch, a field watch?
What is the colour of the bezel on the white dial? It looks almost blue/grey on this video?
I'm not in the market for a diver. But if I were, I'd consider this one. The black dial model in particular has a real "tool watch" quality to it, like one that might be issued to a military unit.
Love it! Can’t wait to see Jody’s next offering.
This is very practical, solid, chunky, masculine and looks well-made and looks good. It's a tool watch. I might order one, but here is a challenge for Jody. I have a Black Bay Black, which is chunky and tool like too, and masculine, and practical, but when you look at it on your wrist, it is absolutely beautiful and awe inspiring. How do they do that? Can you do that with your next watch? If anyone would know how to do that it would be you.
So whats the chances of the next one being an NH34 GMT. Though having a longines conquest VHP gmt I like the idea of a quartz GMT as it always tells the right time and Date.
Sounds different, like you are reading someone else's script... Great review😊

A script written by me, myself, and I.
Great value-proposition, that's for sure. Very industrial design that reminds me a lot of Sinn. My pick would be the purple one if it weren't for the size. I keep it to sub 40mm for my 7 to 7 1/4 inch wrist as I prefer me wearing a watch as opposed to the watch wearing me. So at 41mm with the bracelets jutting out so much, it's unfortunately going to be a hard pass for me on this one, and hope that they are a little more daring with their next model. Best of luck to them though, and cheers for a great review!
I ordered the white face a few days ago and can't wait to try it on!
I pre-ordered one watch with white Dial and curved metal bracelet, waiting for shipment in March 2024, cool stuff can’t wait dive in my local swimming pool! Thx Jody
Love Jody and love the watch! I just wished it was smaller. AND being a fan of red watches, I wish that this red wasn't so BRIGHT. A deep cheery red would have been much better and gone well with the other colors. Notice that the blue isn't a Scottish blue but a dark greyish blue. Why not a dark red?
Pre ordered the Origin Teal, only con for me is size I like between 35mm to 39mm but this watch ticks all the other boxes for me so I can overlook the size.
Looks like a great value proposition if it’s under like $400. Islander makes killer stuff around that price point. Looks like Jody is a competitor now. Will have to check one out.
What about the alignment of markers and bezel ? And the action of bezel?
Would like a different movement option, even at extra cost. I have been looking for an affordable blue Pelagos alternative for a while, but the black one looks so good I am conflicted.

Ha! Exact same here...love the all blue one because I love the blue Pelagos. I don't like the white color date wheel on the blue dial, though. I noticed some of the other color options have black date wheels. So I think I slightly prefer the black one, which has a black date wheel...plus the black one reminds of one of my other favorite brands...Sinn!
I really think Jody nailed it with this. I can't really see anything negative about about it. I think the size is perfect for the market, you say there is a group of guys that won't wear bigger than 40mm but I'm in the group that won't wear anything smaller than a 40mm so I think he's got it right.
Great watch, looking forward to receiving mine!
Maybe it's just because I've grown accustomed to wearing a Casio MDV-106, with its 44+ mm diameter, but while I typically don't like watches to be more than 40mm, (slightly sub-40 is ideal), a diver is very much the exception to that, with 40 being a pretty good size for a dressy diver, but a little above 40 being better for something like this, with a beefy, sporty kind of look that's likely to be oriented toward somewhat more casual wear.
Great job from the king of affordable watches....on my radar..
I think Jody has a massive win with this one. My first thought after seeing these watches was serious Helm vibes. A really good thing in this case. The amount of watch on offer for the price and the overall design makes this an excellent alternative for people who aren't into waiting three years for their watch to arrive. 🤣For that reason, I think these watches are going to sell like crazy and Jody has some busy times ahead of him.
Stunning. I really don't *need* another diving watch but... Maybe that one.
One thing you forgot to mention is that the clasp has on-the-fly adjustment, which is unusual (and very welcome) at this price point (US$299 plus shipping if outside Australia).
Good video. I hope Jody kills it too. Great looking watch with great colors to choose from 👍👍
Bought a black dial… super excited about it and to support Jody! … may end up buying a red dial one as well.
Well,,, this is kind of a tough one. I like the blue and white one. The watch hits my basic minimum specs,,, saphire with AR, stainless case and bracelet (but i dont have to have a stainless bracelet,), brand name lume, good movement, it meets all of my basic minimums. The case size is a little too big for my current size criteria. 40 mm max but i have started leaning towards slightly smaller watches. 38mm is becoming a preference but 40mm is a common size allowing for a variety of watch choices. 41? Not for me these days. I applaud the microbrand concept and have bought some microbrands. The $290 USD price is actually at the lower end of what i am seeing out there so that is good, and a 2 year warranty that actually means something is very good. My issue with microbrands these days is that i can get my minimum specs for a lot cheaper in an Ali watch. That doesnt put me out of the microbrand market totally because i do see the value in some of the designs which differ ftom the cookie cutter homages. I have fallen into looking for the best bargain on Ali trap lately and i think that will run its course eventually and i will probably "splurge" on a microbrand once in a while again. If i am going to do that then definately i will keep my eye on Erebus. Jodie is well respected and i think he will make good watches that you can rely on both in value and support if required. Support the good guys.
When I first saw the Origin, I was a bit undecided. Now after this review, I'm convinced, it's great. I wouldn't mind one. My usual taste is either black (Seiko SKX007) or grey. I also blue with yellow (Seiko SNK371) for a weekend watch. But, I must say the white dial Origin is intriguing. Oh, and that bracelet. WOW! Sort of reminds me of the Citizen Promaster bracelet.
Jody is the poor soul owning a Navitimer, a BlackBay 58, a Citizen Washi dial Chonomaster and, hey !, even is the CEO of a watch company ! Despite this, he spends his life swimming in the depths of Aliexpress, wearing and shooting cheap Chinese built watches with vaguely original designs. I feel for the man.
were the watches regulated? how accurate did they tell the time?
Not my style of watch or dial but it does have a very nice bracelet. I love the design. Congrats to Jody and all the best!
I like the purple one, but I wish the second hand had a coloured tip, other than that, top class watch!
I swore I would never purchase another watch over 40mm again. But it’s Jody and I had to do it. Good luck Jody.
It's okay but very similar to the Helm Vanuatu which Jody is a big fan of. If I didn't already have one of those it would be worth a look but the price starts to mount up with the potential for import duties. The bracelet looks good but there appears to be issues with articulation which i believe will be addressed prior to release. Looking forward to seeing what else he comes up with in the future.
The watch has a great bracelet and case design but the dial is the deal breaker for me. It lacks the "wow" factor in my opinion. Maybe a version with applied indices and an applied logo could possibly sway my decision.

Great review saving up my pennies now , got to be a bit of a grail watch.
I like the watch, love Jody. Just the textured dial I just don’t love. Maybe he should offer other non popcorn ceiling dial options? Also a smaller option? I know has to start somewhere, this isn’t a knock, more of a suggestion for the future (as if a guy like Jody hasn’t already thought of all this!).
The black dial is very similar in appearance to the Helm Vanutu
Well he'll sell at least one - the blue one I pre-ordered 😂. Great take on the watch - thanks.
can't wait for mine to arrive :)
Jody knows his stuff! I’m honestly waiting a couple more paychecks so I can get one of these sweet watches!!
Thank you i like the bracelet very much .. its a pleasing watch to look at . Overall i like it much
Archetype of a diver...effortlessly. Very nice. A nearly perfect dive watch. Thanks!
Comparable to, and priced the same as, the equivalent (Long) Islander watches. L.I. watch seems to be thriving, so there's clearly a market for fairly-priced divers with all the desirable specs (sapphire, lume, quality bezels, attractive dials, etc.) It takes people like Jody and Mark to find the right recipe, and both have done a great job of it.
yea Jodi is Awesome!! I hope this venture flies high!!
what's the color shown at 5:48?
I don’t think it has a divers extension, it has on the fly adjustment?
Pre-ordered the blue on blue. I think Jody nailed it.
