They did change the lyrics a bit to match current Stolas because the fanmade one was more like the Stolas in the pilot. He says “little impish plaything” in the fanmade but never does in the canon one.

Different symbolism thing, but someone smart pointed this out on Tumblr: Blitz's forehead insignia looks a bit like a heart that someone took bites out of. If you look at his bad trip in season 1 episode 6, while he's in the clown outfit, it's a broken heart. And when you look at it in this MV, from Stolas's perspective, it's just a heart. Stolas doesn't see Blitz as damaged goods at all 😭

@@Daralyndk I do interpret this line a liiittle different: Stolas is reflecting on how he might have given Blitz a wrong impression - and he wants to give what it needs to fix their relationship. In a way, he offers to repair the collapsing bridge between them as much as he can, so Blitz does accept that. And he's even ready to give himself up in archieving this goal.

I love how the moon starts off small enough to be held in Stolas' hands, then grows ever larger and farther away so Stolas cannot hug the moon or even touch it anymore. It is so heartrending. Bryce did such an excellent job with this song and I played it nonstop when it first dropped. The first time I watched it, I had both hands clasped over my mouth so I could just listen and watch without interrupting it with any sound from me. Yes, I got a little misty-eyed, too. I also noticed the lyric changes from the original fan song that was already posted on YT and on Spotify. About the fan songwriter Paranoid DJ, the lyrics originally were about how Octavia would feel if Stolas left her behind for Blitzø, per the Loo Loo Land ep. Then PDJ was invited by Viv to come in and rework the song to fit the latest storyline. By then, Octavia already knew about (and begrudgingly accepted) her dad's affair with Blitzø (because her dad was finally happy) and was becoming friends with Loona, so the dynamics had definitely changed. Viv also made Paranoid DJ the sound designer for the music video. That is why the music and filler sounds are so epic. And the song is now CANON! The red string of Fate really killed me - they are meant to be together!

Paranoid DJ is such a gem like I also listen to Smile Like You Mean It and The Ringleader on loop, they sound so incredibly canon. I can't imagine how one person can cook up so many different genres

the moon also has historical symbolism with love e.g romeo and juliet "O swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon. that monthly changes in her circled orb. lest that thy love prove likewise variable" its used as a symbol of imperfection, unlike romeo's fake perfect love with rosaline his relationship with juliet isn't perfect its real, much like how stolas and blitz don't have a perfect relationship

Another point of symbolism for the moon is the the whole "dark side of the moon" being Blitzo's hidden insecurities, using their full moon contract as a shield for letting himself get close to anyone, especially Stolas. This is also symbolized by the chains he wore in the hallucination episode. He starts crawling up the stairs willingly and then the chain forms, almost like an excuse of why he went to Stolas. The visual storytelling in this show never ceases to amaze me.

The most beautiful thing about this song is the fact that it was created by a fan. Paranoid DJ published it 2 years ago and it became canon after adjusting a few lines. I already loved his version but after hearing it from Bryce, I fell in love with it again. His way of singing is so touching!

I watched this (the MV) while at the gym... I forgot about it after I caught up with the series, and my youtube recommended it as I was looking for stuff to listen to while working out. Well, suffice to say my workout was shot there and there, I watched and rewatched it while sitting on a mat for 15 minutes, wiping my tears from my face, before I gave up and just went to change :D

Oh my god, this is so hilarious, and also so fucking me. Although i wasn't in the gym, I was studying. And my whole day was ruined, I was just wallowing in bed, feeling sad about stolas, periodically pausing whatever I was doing and bursting into anguished (but excited for the new episode) screams randomly throughout the day in the middle of different tasks.

This was originally a fan song, and they thought it was so good and fit the character so well. This is essentially when Stolas gets the crystal from Asmodeus and he's supposedly going to try to give it to him in the next episode. The next episode is also called "Full Moon". Stolas and Blitz have a lot of symbology with the full moon because that's when they meet up.

it's also an interesting analysis to think on how stolas was entrusted to study the cosmos, he's got to have a great understanding on the moon and stars, and yet here is blitz, a moon that remains a fixed point in his life, someone whom he sees every month but that he cannot reach or truly get to know. I also think its a great detail how the moon keeps growing bigger just like his love for blitz has, but despite having become such a huge presence in his life blitz remains enclosed within the moon.

So the reason Blitz is the Moon is because their arrangement is that Once a month, on the full moon, Blitz returns the book so Stolas can do his magic duties, and then they have a fuck, and Blitz gets to keep the book the rest of the time. That's why Stolas calls out "Those dazzling moonlit nights."

Blitz is represented as the moon in this music video because his and Stolas’s agreement is that they meet up every full moon and also, in the words of Romeo and Juliet, “O, swear not by the moon, th’ inconstant moon, that monthly changes in her circle orb, lest that thy love prove likewise variable.” Meaning that, just like the moon, Stolas and Blitz’s relationship is on and off like the moon.

The way EVERYTIME without fail, i let out an anguished wail and find myself sobbing whenever i listen to this song. I bet you cant tell stolas is my confort character and seeing him cry hurts me. Now way you can tell.

The thing I think is interesting with Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel is that HB shows us the graph of increased quality through the episodes, while HH has a much more even quality across the season. Presumably because HB episodes are released whenever they are ready rather than gathered up for bulk release. HB always had good quality for a KZread show, but there is a world of difference between the early episodes and the new episodes. I'm sure it has been very useful for the creators to have HB as a relatively free space where they have less restrictions and can test out what hits home with the fans. (As well as of course generating interest in the Vivsiepop Hell and gathering+retaining a fanbase)

The agreement they made was once a month on the full moon blitz has to bring the grimoire back and then spend the night with him. Also referenced in the song when he mentions 'Yet, I find myself drawn from that path On those dazzling moonlit nights'. So you have blitz, the symbolic moon, luring him from the planned path of his responsibilities.

This song is just a knife in the heart is so good in tearms of visuals and you can ear real emotions. And yes the moon represents him and basically a resume of their relancion in beginning blitz was just a little moon around him because of the deal but as it goes on it grows into something that stolas cannot unsee or ignore but he got to let go if nedded (let go in case blitz just takes the cristal and never talks to stolas again)

Blitzø is represented as a full moon because thats when they do the exchange! Once a month in the full moon Stolas needs the book to do his Guardian work and thats when they do an exchange of gains. At the start he has the asmodeus crystal hes going to give Blitzø he doesnt need the book anymore to travel to the human world nor do exchanges with Stolas. So yeah this is technically after episode 6 because Fizz tells Ozzy to go ahead and do the favour for Stolas because he knows his intentions.

I believe in episode 1 on his phone call, he makes the deal that every full moon they have passionate fornication and Blitzø can keep the book the rest of the time. But I also can see the moon being a distraction or an obsession from his studies and knowing prophecies. Also the moon being something he can’t reach ..but maybe he can idk he portals to dying stars to get his kid to sleep. So idk it could mean anything but yes Blitzø is his moon! Great reaction, so happy you watched it!

Oh I totally agree. I think he pushes off stolas cause he's like, I'm an imp, I'm a nobody to be something serious with him. But like you said, he is trying to fix everything to feel better about himself to then try and give it a shot then once he feels he is worthy

The moon also pulls the tides… that’s why in the water scene as stolas is getting farther away the tide is still affecting him. Aka blitzo

The thing I think is amazing is that while the emotion is so much deeper, they kept it pretty close to the way the original youtuber/fan wrote and sang it.

also i think its cool that the moon starts off as this small little thing. And as he gets more into his feelings it becomes larger and more important. the moon also orbits its planet - Stolas takes it/him from its place, wants him to stay tied to him. But as Blitz grows more important to him Stolas finds himself desperate to stay close to him, and now hes drawn into blitz's orbit instead. There's a lot of beautiful symbolism in the video.

I think the songs are stronger in HH (apart from this one), but I am more invested in HB… there’s so much depth to the characters and their relationships. I love that sad horny birb, and I need him to have a happy ending (heh) with Blitzy. I prefer the smaller scale storyline too - “will they fall in love” vs “will they save the world” I also find HB much funnier - the humour is darker and snappier, in some way? Anyway, I just love this series and it’s been fun watching it again with you! Off to plan a Stolitzø themed tattoo now 🥲 Hope you had a good Dead Guy on a Stick Day!

Also the crystal at the start, is a gift fro ozzie, it's his symbol on the box, so that's for blitz to go to the human world. This is about making that decision, will blitz want to keep seeing stolas when given that freedom of the crystal, so not needing to sleep with stolas under their contract.

The moon symbolism is LOADED in this. It's a reference to Romeo and Juliet, their contract, and is full of its own meaning. The moon is a meteor that crashed into earth billions of years ago and got stuck in our orbit, much how Blitz crashed into Stolas' life when they were kids and never quite left it, especially after that first night together as adults. He fears the moon leaving his orbit (Blitz leaving him) and when it does he chases after it, desparate to keep their connection. Stolas looking at Blitz in the dark side of the moon represents the rarity of catching a glimpse of Blitz's true feelings, and the "walls he's conjured up to live." Hence him asking "Is this what you feel?" Then he finally concludes "if you love something, let it go" and pushes it away himself. My favorite line in the song, thematically, visually, and sonically is when he leaps forward and promises "I will try to make amends for making you a means to an end," meaning he understands now why their relationship is doomed to fail as it is, and what he needs to try to do, whether it ends in them being close or him drowning in his own despair at the loss of Blitz.

To be honest, it'd be better if you'd first watch the whole song for us to only show your emotional response, and THEN went through it with as much pausing as you wish to catch everything you want to elaborate on. It was just 4 minutes, and your reaction is 18, you could've easily start with a full uninterrupted watch and then analyze as much as you want, but it was really annoying to see you pause in the middle of the melody turn or lyrics sentence, talk for 2 minutes and resume from the same place completely losing the perspective of each part where it happened. Music is supposed to charm you, to be perceived fully, its much like speech, melodies have their own sentences, and your approach just doesnt let you hear what the MUSIC is trying to tell you. You can see the lyrics in the subtitles, but you cant see the tone musical phrase started with 2 minutes ago when you started talking. Its especially devastating in such a masterpiece video that was made to work in all of its layers: the melody, the visuals, the lyrics - in conjunction.

I think Hazbin and Helluva are both good but you get so much more time with certain characters in Helluva Boss, hopefully Hazbin slows its roll I think they had a plan just incase they didn't get a season 2, hopefully now they've proved themselves to amazon they will slow it down and we'll get more time with the different characters, 8 episodes to finish a plotline is not a lot of time to squeeze a lot into.
