    I think because Badenoch talked over the interviewer some of the points she could have made were lost. Secondhand petrol/diesel vehicles will be available for a long time if it's 2030 or 2035, no new advantage as the poor are not likely to buy any vehicle new . It may slow down the supply of secondhand EVs as many are from fleets that buy new every 3 years. This seems to me so the gov. can get away from talking about the recharging problems or fixing them.

Yet this doesn't change the reality that electric vehicles are significantly less viable and less affordable than petrol cars and are anticipated by both government and the manufacturers to remain so by 2030. It's ridiculous to see 3-4 cars per house where 3 people live and 2 don't need it in the first place. As per EV - they're practical. No engine temperature issues, quiet, charging isn't a problem in England anymore, as is range, no brake pads or exhaust gasses pollution, no service intervals nuisance etc etc.

  • @TalesOfWar

    @TalesOfWar

    @@pawel7196 Temperature issues are still a thing, and brake pads still produce pollution, as do tyres. One of the big issues with EV's is the trend of cars these days just also being bigger and bigger. A Bigger EV needs more batteries to move it, and thus weights far more. You get behemoths like the Cadillac Escalade in the US that has enough batteries to produce 4 regular sized vehicles for example. I'm seeing more and more massive cars on the UK roads, like Ford Rangers. They just don't fit here properly, and they're death machines for whoever they hit. Some of them have less over bonnet visibility than tanks (not hyperbole). It makes seeing a full grown adult difficult, never mind children. The biggest irony of a lot of these massive cars is they have less boot space than a classic estate (or station wagon for the US market). I saw someone pulling a trailer the other day in a Ford Ranger because the euro pallet on said trailer didn't actually fit in to the bed of his shitty over sized truck.

    Her response to the question about boiler replacements for landlords is unbelievable and an outright lie… of course it will delay landlords putting in more cost effective boilers that will save money for the tenants who actually live in those homes. You’ve just scrapped the rule that would have forced them to do it earlier. It’s not rocket science - if a landlord isn’t forced by law to do it, and it costs them money but only benefits their tenant, while giving no benefits to them as a landlord OF COURSE they’re not going to choose to do it… This lot are unreal. All of a sudden they’re now concerned about the well being of poor and working people. Where was all this concern during the age of austerity, or last winter when they could have applied a windfall tax on energy companies absolutely minting it in with record profits, and used it to further support energy bills for the elderly and those on lower incomes?! Total BS. And it’s just Orwellian the kind of nonsense that Rishi was spouting out of his mouth. Banning or scrapping a whole bunch of laws or policies that don’t even exist. Seriously - think about it - some government department or think tank, came out with an idea, it’s not the law, it’s not policy, we had no plans to actually implement it, but we could have done, and now we’re saying we’re not going to, even though we didn’t plan to in the first place - let me now receive your applause and adulation… demented… The sooner this lot are out on their ear the better!
