I wouldn't say the gov funds research at institutions of higher learning completely. Much of the work is done by students who are not compensated for their efforts. In fact, they pay tuition to participate. This all changes if Biden forgives student loans though.

He said it again the value of our product to save people's lives allows us to increase the price tenfold

They can charge inflated prices to insurance company and make patient pay 20% double dip in U.S.A.

A gym membership and regular exercise (150 minutes per week of elevated heart rate) is much cheaper than prescription drugs. This doesn't work for everyone, but it make a significant dent on the numbers of people with various metabolic syndrome issues, like Type 2 Diabetes.

Didn't Trump say that he was or had negotiated with drug companies that we wouldn't pay more than other countries? I've lost my state assistance because my Social Security income is over the limit. Luckily, I'm have Medicare which at least allows me a copay and not full cost. (No generic available) Today, I'm picking up my prescription that lists at 632.00/30 days supply (Jensen/J &J). There are no copay assistance for anyone without insurance, even if they don't qualify for Medicaid. If you have insurance, they make you pay the deductible without any discount. I have Medicare and "Advantage" insurance. Today, I'll pay $342.00 for my 30 day supply with my insurance. To be fair, I'm in the process of changjng my insurance so that copay will go down considerably. I have 2 inherited blood disorders and had a pulmonary embolism because of it. Changing my insurance will help in drug purchases, I lose coverage elsewhere. I hope something cimes of this but in 2026, generics will be allowed to become available.
