Yes! So true! They are lovely, lovely people, doing their business, but never let the human side of their work out of sight. They are sympathetic, healing, warm human beings first, and then they are sales persons. It's o therapeutic to watch how they treat their brides and how much patience and empathy they have for others. They truly love people and their job. They work so well as a pair, you can tell that they understand each other without words. Lovely friendship, lovely show. I'm sure they've helped many ladies on so many levels. Best of luck for them.

@@teecee919 She would lose a lot of weight without a diet, by just eating normal portions and more healthy with more fiber in it. A lot of diets work fine and do not ruin your metabolism at all. Problem is mostly not the body, but the soul. Many people eat away their hurt with so-called comfort food. Comes new trouble or stress, comes another round of comfort food with its weight gain.

My dad had a weight loss surgery. Within a month he had lost eighty pounds, but he couldn't eat and drink in the same meal, he could only eat a little bit, his stomach was very sensitive, etc. To be fair, that was the early stages of recovery, and it was well worth it. But I would always recommend changing your lifestyle before getting surgery.

I think it’s so powerful for her to say she’s obese AND she’s okay with her body, you never see that on TV, love these women so much

@Hulda's Journey • No offense, but this came across as toxic positivity to me. Saying we *should* feel beautiful at all sizes can seem like shaming someone who doesn't feel beautiful at all sizes. It's okay not to feel beautiful when you're obese, and want to make real positive changes in your lifestyle to change how you feel.

This is definitely toxic positivity. What part of obesity is healthy or positive? We shouldn't romanticize these kind of things.

I had weight-loss surgery 24 years ago. They are absolutely correct that you have to make major lifestyle changes. Even though I had complications and needed a revision, it was still all worth it. I wear a size 10 and feel great -- it helped me avoid diabetes and high blood pressure, along with numerous other problems. Surgery isn't for everyone, but it certainly worked out well for me.

Congratulations! Weight loss is hard work & I hope that's what you see when you look in the mirror. Yes the surgery helped, but all of the hard work was down to *you* . I'm always a bit dubious about congratulating weight loss online because I don't want to encourage eating disorders, but it sounds like you've done everything brilliantly - focusing on your health and maintaining a healthy size. Can I just ask what country you’re from? You said you’re a size 10 now but that can vary a lot between countries. Some countries that’s a size small and in others it’s a size large.

I love that Al & Jo can relate to the women who walk into their shop, they are married and had worn their horrible wedding dresses before and don't want a plus size bride to go through what they did. You may think buying a white dress that You think makes You look beautiful but You will remember the rest of your life when the dress hurts/pinches/rubs viciously or doesn't flow like you thought it would. Why put in a few thousand dollars or pounds on a dress that you are not comfortable in ???

Exactly! And it’s the reason why, My mother and my grandmother, they both got married in a pantsuit 😅

These 2 women are absolutely lovely. They took into account her feelings but wanted to make sure she looked amazing. They knew the fish tail wasn't for her body type but they were very tactful. They didn't lie to her but the way they treated her shows they cared. What a skill!!!

I love that they guided her to an appropriate dress instead of some of the shows where they just agree with the bride and don't even try to guide them to a dress that actually suits their body type and let them spend thousands of dollars to look like a mess. Its ultimately the brides choice but they don't even try. Plus I like theadvice regarding weight loss surgery.

I used to be a bridal consultant and I usually pulled the dresses I knew would look best on the bride. It was my job to make the bride look her best and that she was wearing the dress, not the dress wearing the bride. She needs to shine and be her most beautiful.

Yup... saw that twice, with a very close friend, and then with my sister. Knew they tried the dress just by their faces coming out of the fitting room

I LOVE that in this episode they can confess their obesity and the fact their health is at risk, BUT they still deserve to look and feel pretty.

Yes. I am definitely for body positivity but we shouldn’t ignore that being obese or severely underweight can bring health problems. I feel like this battle for body positivity has been divided into two very extreme sides. One side that things being overweight is bad and everyone overweight needs to lose weight and it’s extremely unhealthy and another side that things it doesn’t matter at all even if your health is seriously at risk. I think the opinions expressed in this video are very positive and she looked beautiful in the final dress.

whenever i watch this show, i can see how much of a safe space they give they brides. Jo and Alison just met her, and yet she is able to feel comfortable with talking about quite personal thoughts with them (like having the surgery or not) , and i also love how genuine they are

I wish the therapists I’ve seen were as nice as those ladies. I’ve always felt really uncomfortable whenever I try see a councillor or therapist but they seem like they would make everyone feel really comfortable.

@@nr5076 size 8 here but no thigh gap. Chub rub is the worst! Luckily I only get in on the upper most part of my inner thighs. But it’s awful none the less

I actually bought the first dress I tried on - it was total perfection. The consultant didn't really know what to do with that, and it was actually hard to convince her that I was finished. Lol

I had an "okay" bridal experience. When I went to DB just with friends it was okay ish, but gosh I wish I had shop owners like this By comparison I was so much smaller, and I didn't know that from 19-23 would be the last year's I'd have all the spoons in the world and my health! I wish I'd have had people that weren't so hyper focused on a size 18-22 wedding dress, and how I looked. I was 19, marrying my soulmate! But for my vow renewal? I'm going here, if I'm going to have a do-over, I'm DOING EVERYTHING over!!

I wish I had of met you two amazing women when I got married!!! You are both amazing and think of the brides' happiness. I "made do" on both my wedding days and I do regret not having a beautiful wedding gown! One that I felt really special in! I see a lot of people trying on only like 5 dresses before picking one but I’m on a mission to find the perfect dress for when I get married. I’m trying on at least 20 dresses and going to multiple shops before I make my choice. I will find THE one. I’m currently in the process of getting my first glasses and I’m doing the same thing. I’m scared to buy any because I want to make sure I find the perfect pair since i’lol have to wear them everyday. It’s been 2 weeks and I’m yet to make a decision yet.

Well done, ladies! You were kind, listened to the bride-to-be, while gently showing her what her body type needed. Love the statement, " Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you should". (Hello, Walmart customers). I'm 5'2-1/2" tall, 115 lbs, and turn 70 next month. Just because a particular style or outfit fits my body, doesn't mean I should wear it out in public.

I understand where these women are coming from. Me, my youngest sister, and my mother have BMI's over 37. I struggle to lose weight since I have PCOS and some mental issues I'm dealing with. My mom pushes my youngest sister to lose weight due to health issues. Seeing this girl love herself in her dress and not caring about how her weight affects her inspires me.

That last dress is absolutely gorgeous!! And she looks incredible!!

I just wanted to say that you don't have to go to the gym to drop some weight. You can start by walking 20-30min each day and having the right diet to support the weight loss (not just heavy portion control, or any fad diet, the right diet should allow you to live your life and "exercise" without feeling hungry, just maybe before meal) Once you are launched on the weight loss journey like this, respecting your body 100%, then your body will slowly help you drop some weight. It's not always that easy throughout the process, but if you need to drop some weight to get in better health, don't rush doing extreme things that will just trigger alerts to not drop the weight all over your body and brain ;) That being said, what a lovely bride :D

Unpopular opinion, but if they dnt have the style she wanted in her size, that's not the shop for her. Instead of trying to convince her and her party to choose another style they DO have

"There was none there that fitted her." "We need to show her it's not a great look." And then pulled the family aside to convince them to convince her. It would be completely different if they they had one her size for her to compare, but they didn't even have that. Their hearts may be in the right place, but she should wear _whatever_ style she wants

@@laural.b7515 Because it really wasn't her "dream dress", it was a dress. And if it was her DREAM dress, don't you think she would have walked out of that boutique and gone back to the old one? I think her perception of what she needed and what she REALLY needed was changed seeing herself in a different light. I for one, heard ruffle mermaid and went WHAH?? But hey....you do you. I LOVED the dress she chose. And she looked AMAZING in it.

They only changed her mind because the mermaid dress didn't fit her body correctly thats why they were trying to steer her away from it, they didn't want her on her wedding day looking back at the photos regretting her decision which is what a true stylists is suppose to do.

I will always keep saying it these ladies are what ever lady needs in their lives. People like these ladies who help you see how amazing you feel, how amazing you look, how amazing are. They are confident boosters! They take your insecurities & make you feel even more confident in yourself & your body! 💕
