An outstanding, but often overlooked pianist. He had great technique and incredible feeling and artistry.

I am shattered to hear of his death. I heard him play the Chopin 1st piano concerto when I was a child. I was moved to tears by the perfection and sheer emotional power and beauty of the second movement. He is the only pianist I've heard who played it slowly enough to crystallize its beauty. I will miss you Mr. Weissenberg. You were a jewel of the best of our culture.

Wow! There is a film of him in the Symphonic Etudes ! Never seen this ! He was a genius taught himself important things -don't know how its possible Godowsky too like Busoni was too .

I hope He rests in peace and in happiness. I've had so much advice and support from the interviews with Him. Every good pianist looks up to Him, I believe.

Décédé en janvier 2012, il nous laisse aussi triste en septembre. Déjà son disque de Rachmaninoff ( les sonates chez DG ) était magnifique. Son Chopin recueilli ici et quel beau personnage, immortel artiste.

返信ありがとうございます。 私は高3の時に、初めてワイセンベルクさんのコンサートを聴き、大ファンになり、上京してからもワイセンベルクさんが来日公演すると何回も行って感動していました。 それなのに、田舎に帰って生活に追われ、すっかりワイセンベルクさんから離れてしまったのです。たまにＣＤを聴いてはいましたが。 たまたま、ブーニンのカムバックの放送を見て、ワイセンベルクさんを思い出したのです! そして何と、30年もパーキンソン病と闘い、2012年に亡くなっていたのです😢それからは、ワイセンベルクさんの情報やＣＤ、DVDを集めて毎日聴いて涙を流しています。 本当に後悔しています。 毎日ワイセンベルクさんの演奏を聴いてご冥福を祈っています。

そうだったのですね… 私は自分のピアノのお手本として40年くらい前にレコードを買っていただけだったのですが、 それでも何も知らずにショックでした。 それだけ好きだった人なら、さぞかしショックが大きかったであろうとお察しいたします。 でも死後、また思い出して自分の音楽で感動してもらうことは、音楽家としてのワイセンベルクさんが考えていた、何よりの喜びではないかと思います！

yeah, his technique is amazing, listen to his Rachmaninov sonata no. 2 just amazes me. but sadly, his style somehow is outdated by a newer generation pianists, who, ever since the immergence of Pollini and others in the 70s, completely redefine the piano playing as we are acclimated today, that is more precision and loyal to the score. but anyway he was a phenomenon. and this video is a real treasure
