Poor Jun. His English is pretty good but he's constantly correcting himself when he's talking to Rachel's family because he's afraid they wouldn't understand him. I know the feeling. I'm bilingual myself and when I talk to an English-spoken person I've just met, I find myself over-correcting and overthinking everything I've said or is going to say. The struggle is real.

@halevan6492

it is a mistake made by cultural difference. I guess he meant only "show me your knives". In Vietnam, when we want to emphasize something or repeat something we have said, we usually add "I said" before the sentence. I guess the Japanese do it too. Maybe Jun just translated it into English like a habit, even though he might know that is not grammatically correct.

Ok... Now I know I'm old. Jun said, "Now I'm a straight man." and my first thought was, 'Yeah, you make the perfect straight man.' Then I read the comments and realized that I was thinking of a comedy troupe like the Marx Brothers having a straight man as a foil to jokes, while everyone else, it seems, was thinking of a very different connotation. Jun is the perfect straight man for comedy. I am good at a lot of things, but never sharpening knives. Thank you very much for showing the basics. I'd love to see Jun do a full tutorial on it on Jun's kitchen.
