Thanks for answering the questions! In regards to the grid you mentioned on the Radiomaster touchscreen, I found that that’s actually a screen protector that’s touched around the edges. I removed the screen protector and the screen is now completely clear and the touchscreen still works. I then cut a phone screen protector to size and it looks just like a phone screen. Thanks!

Thanks Lee, your honest reviews will definitely leave me stickIng with my trusty X9D+ with crossfire micro, Tango-2 and Futaba 18SZ with crossfire long range. Though of late my Tango 2 has become my go to for all my FPV Wings. Maybe when either RadioMaster or Jumper have touch screen one of them may replace my X9D+ until then no thank you.

Great video as usual. I would like more information on the "32 channels (depending on the receiver)". I am planning on a robot build and was going to use my T16 for it, but I may need 18 or more channels to get everything I want. I was going to try some work arounds that may not work, but if there is a TX RX combo that could get me 32 channels that would be great, and worth a new TX. Most people don't actually care about that many, so no one is talking about it.

since i have a lot of drones with various protocol, i would choose jumper T18 but not the pro but the T18 lite. The lite version has external 2.4g antenna(pro has internal). and if i want the long range then i simply add the crossfire module which is far better.

Hall effect used to connote quality but now just refers to function. Going by my TX16s, if you are an old school Frsky owner, you may expect more out of the gimbals. Not sure what Jumper are like. If you never owned a good set of the old school hall effect, you won't know the difference. And yes TX16s is a budget radio, but some may expect more when they hear hall effect.

I really find it interesting how jumper sells an unfinished product and then sells the upgrades later on...It supposed to have a touchscreen already in and have the charging too. Like on the T16 they will probably be selling a charging circuit and touch screen later on...

Thank you for your video. I got mine delivered on the 11th June and I feel there is more to be said about this radio, you may not have experienced any of this yourself. I had issues with the menu wheel, you mentioned an update, maybe this fixed it for you, a number of people have reported this. I've had to swap out the SD card, like others, just started to fail on writing data from the computer. Companion doesn't want to talk to this unit, seemingly a new version will be out but it's not even listed in the radio dropdown as yet and fails to read / write models as I would have preferred to migrate the models from my trusted Taranis, rather than go through the pain of setting each one up manually. Have you had any of these issues on your version?

I’ve got a radiomaster tx16s on preorder, I’m sure that I’ve made the right choice, as it seems to be a bit higher quality and it was cheaper. I think that I now know why the partners separated, obviously the guy who owns radiomaster wanted better quality and was willing to go that bit further in that regard. Plus the internal transmitter is going to make it vital as to how the receiver is set up on the aircraft, and the aerial for the R9 is a bit of a compromise really. Besides which if I want R9 I’d get a module to fit in the back of the transmitter, already have a crossfire module and aircraft with that receiver, but for the cheaper price I’d be happy to get a few R9 receivers for some models if I wanted long range at a cheaper price.

David Reynolds I don't think the RM is of better quality, the hardware components are insanely cheap but they just wanted to make something functional and trouble free right out the box without too many complaints. Jumper on the other hand does not even reply to their customers.

Should I try to get jumper to exchange my defective t16 to this? I only fiddled with my T16 three times, set it up for a two Chanel glider, never bound it, never flew it. Being kinda taken over/overwhelmed by all the possibilities in open tx... I set it aside (as a newbie I've only ever programmed a hitec aurora 9 and Orx 4ch radio). But, after it sitting in its box for a while after that, covid-19 and all that, I took it with to the field to show, and it didn't work... Is that only the ribbon cables do you think? I got the pro version, ordered in December last... Wrote jumper to get the improved ribbon cables that they are working on. But, do you think this will be a fix to a radio that on power up gives switch alerts that are not true and to malfunctioning buttons and switches. Can't even set up a model nor choose one now... Whats you penny of thought on this?

I am very interested in moving into fixed wing with the ambition of making a tool for mapping/photogrammetry with a great deal of automation. Considering I have not used anything outside a DJI control system for years, what out of all the radios that you are presented with would you recommend please, considering my last radio was a JR 3810.

So for me the Lite version would be the one to get. External 2.4ghz vs the internal antenna and especially crossfire users will want the Lite. No internal charging for me would be an easy kill by just transferring the Bob's battery kit from my T16 to the T18 but that's something I honestly shouldn't have to be doing... And no touchscreen for when OTX 2.4 launches... This radio is not an upgrade if your T16 is still working fine like mine is. The Radiomaster has everything ready to go out of the box, has the internal charging and more options. And I'm only considering ditching my T16 to pre-empt any ribbon cables issues I might have while flying. I don't need to lose a $$$ model because a ribbon quit when my gear was up...

they are differences but still the tx16s is superior and cheaper , the T18 PRO doesn't have hall gimbals, no charging, no touch screen, and for now the T18 is running a modified version of OpenTX and no Companion support to copy over models, the grid on the Radiomaster is a protection film from I saw.

Hi Lee, I've used a very expensive TX with touch screen down the patch and it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Buttons work for me but that's my choice. Also I know a lot has been made of charging the batteries within the TX but is it really a good idea to charge any form of Lithium battery in a TX. I know that some of the top end TX's use this but if I wouldn't do it in a model, would I do it in any device. For me no, but that's my choice. For a multi cell Lithium battery I have a proper balance charger which I use with a full isolation environment.

Seems like the only real improvement over the T16 is no ribbon cables . 1 step forward 2 steps back IMO . Pretty lights just run the battery down quicker and most people use crossfire so R9 don't add much .

  • @TechVerified2K

    @TechVerified2K

    4 жыл бұрын

I agree with you 100%, only thing is I do use R9 just because I dont really care for crossfire personally. It's been working for me and I have all my rigs with R9, that is a plus one for me, not having to use a module. The exclusion of the USB charging dock is a big step back for me. I(we) spent the xtra money on the t16 to get that feature only to be removed again....what?!??!. Major gripe about this whole situation is that the "touch screen" was used as 1 of the major marketing for this, reserved feature blah blah blah. Future upgrade option for touch screen, feature not included is what it should have said. it was implied that it was included reserved feature and disabled until opentx supports it. I am highly considering the radiomaster now over this because I dont have to purchase anything else for it. I for one would love touch screen once its supported. 129.99 vs 159.99 could become 250 per say after all the mods for the features they initially mentioned. I am little bitter about this. lol.

I have to admit that I find the execution by jumper to be somewhat lackluster. They already did this once and appear to have only learned that they can half-ass a product for release and then sell "upgrades" to people to do what the radio should have been able to do from the beginning. It seems like radiomaster while not perfect either is much better at putting useful features into their product and adding value over adding things people don't want and missing basic features. I fully expect them to follow the same path they did with the t16 at this point and release a charging circuit etc that anyone who buys now will have to pay to upgrade to without changing the radio price. It just means they are basically charging you a tax to buy their product early

Originally, I pre-ordered this radio and was super excited to get the radio thinking that it would at least have USB charging and the higher resolution touch screen built in even if it wasn’t active. I guess I assumed that they would reduce the resolution in software or something until it gets supported by opentx. Also, I am also not too impressed by the Pro’s gimbals either. I am super disappointed in jumper for not clearly stating that the versions we would get would have to be upgraded with a new panel to get the full resolution screen. I would not mind paying a bit more now for the higher resolution touch screen even if it wouldn’t be active until later firmware. I ended up canceling my preorder as a result of this and am extremely disappointed.

Painless360 you have not shown how good the speaker audio in this radio is. ¿Is it really Hifi sound quality ?

I wouldn't say HiFi quality. It's nice and loud but super high quality would be very impressive out if such a small speaker...Happy flying

@@Painless360 Another question for the next video review. ¿what about the stick throw? I have heard complaints about Radiomaster gimbals throw being too long so I want you to compare it to the new gimbals of the Lite version.

Jumper seem to have dropped the ball. No internal charging, no touchscreen and why would anyone want R9 built in and have an internal 2.4ghz antenna. I'll be sticking with my qx7 and x9d. One question though Lee. Have you got any idea on battery life for the the radiomaster.

As I just burned 2 USB-C charging board for my jumper t16v2 I think that jumper get back and removed them as they are unreliable for now and are worst than just asking people to charge externally.

The Roller button has not improved in the Production models, it's actually one of the biggest issues. It always jumps 2 lines, so you have to kinda roll half a click to get your selection, which is really annoying.

Thanks for the comprehensive update. I can't believe that there is no direct charging. This is a must for me as the battery case is a right faff removing and charging etc. Still would like to know if the crossfire module can be removed with the 5-1. We shall see.

Come one, what is the sense of this "updated radio"??? Bad scroll, misleading name T18 with 16 channel 😆, misleading info about display, misleading info about charging...what the hell, not excellent 2.4ghz range, good quality gimbal sensor proposed as hi-end quality....cheap sliders, cheap frontal potentiometers. Why you should buy this radio? Frontal carbon look for a perfect chinese style....that's so ridiculous
