I should have released a video about this earlier, but I was told customers would not see this issue. If you have seen this issue on your purchased Jumper T18, let me know in the comments. I'm curious how bad the first batch really was.

Yep , a friend just brought his new T18 to me this past weekend to see If I could sort it out . After seeing this video I just quit and he's sending it back for a Radiomaster .

I think I got first batch too, but it was replacement of mine t16. I have no card issue and it works just fine. And this pro gimbals are very, very good!

It was soo easy to get the issue i took the sd card out turned it on where it said no sd card then i pluged it in and it corupted the sd card when i restared the radio

I have a same problem with my jumper T18

I'm not surprised at all. The guy mumbles out a semi-coherent train of thought with no structure at all to what he's saying, I couldn't stand more than 30 seconds of trying to listen to him. Definitely not subscribing.

This happens to any radio like this with this type of screen. The Frsky Horus is the same. They use part of the graphics from the SD card, so when you don't have a microSD the radio became useless... Unlike the X9D that only the voices are used from the SD, all the basic you can use from the radio itself without microSD.

I sold my Radiomaster. QC was poor on mine. Came with a scroll wheel that didn’t work.

I have purchased radiomaster too no problems with mine.

Everyone should have learned with the t16. You shouldn’t have to buy a radio that needs so many soft/hard updates.

still rocking my t16 pro, even with theire flat ribbon cable. i still love it its a daily runner for my fpv,trucks and now my boat. it suits my needs :) isnt that the most important for a user:) thanks for great content Albert. its about time i subbed ^^

Me also . I had one ribbon cable issue early on in January and reseated them all and no further issues since . I did have Jumper ship me the improved cables but no need to install them as long as it's working .

had the same issue on my t16 pro. lots of run around from the vendor and manufacturer. finally after disassembling a number of times and reseating every ribbon cable the issue was resolved. it is likely one of the cables to/from the motherboard and daughterboard. i have not had that particular issue since but now i am having multiple quads suddenly drop out of the sky while flying no more than 40 ft away. no failsafe nor low signal warning (two frsky r9 mini and one frsky r-sxr receiver). havent resolved that yet but realistically cannot fly with confidence when i have to keep repairing from random drops.

Wow. You’d think they’d provide a reviewer with a working radio. I almost bought this because I wasn’t happy with my Radiomaster that had poor quality control - scroll wheel that didn’t work. Glad I didn’t. TBS has a huge opportunity to make a decent multi protocol radio. Fingers crossed.

Had to repair my Radiomaster when it arrived. Rubbed me wrong cracking the case on a new radio not to mod but to actually get it to work.

Great honest review Albert. Once you go Tango 2 it's hard to go back. My T16 is collecting dust lol

Thanks Albert for the honest review. I needed a new upgrade and went with the Frsky X9D+ SE "2019" and Full-size Crossfire. I dig it. It's a great TX for me, as I'm newer to the hobby and dont have much older gear to contend with. So, I guess I'll grow with the newest generation of gear... As an impulse buy, I also purchased the T18 Pro - as a back up. My T18 is fine (thankful) but it does have a scroll-wheel issue. It skips over every other "target" making it difficult to navigate. Jumper did send me a FW upgrade, but also one for the bootloader, the 5 in 1-Multi, and the OS. Im just not in the mood to fool with all the upgrading just to have the scroll wheel function just yet, as the last time I did, I made a mess of things... I like the Radio though. Feels good, nice features, but like all things, you must have "Crossfire" to complete it.🔥 My Micro V2 is on the way for this, and I'm hoping this TX ends up being a great back up radio to leave in my car for quick flights. I had the same issue. Sent for Repair. Hopefully it will work upon return.

I've had the T18 for a month or so now. It was affected by the SD card hardware issue, although we figured out how to fix it (without jumper's asssitance). I really really REALLY like the radio now it's behaving, particularly given I have some R9 stuff, but would be hard pressed to recommend it (to anyone i like, anyway) given the risk of hardware issues.

@@kibbycabbit There's a poor solder joint on the SD card reader. Easy enough to spot visually and a dab of solder does the trick.

For now I will stay with the T16. Thank you Albert!

Now that I'll have a Radiomaster with Crossfire I feel liberated from frsky!

i bought tango 2 got it yesterday and did 1 flight, prety sweet

My t18 was working fine with 4 models before this storage error. It hasn’t worked properly since. I went through updating the module and one models receiver. It binds in d8. In d16 it went from binding with no output to betaflight to not binding at all. Ive given it enough of my time.

I have jumper t16 pro with ribbon cables, gave me switch problems and I fixed that by resetting ribbons and putting little dab of hot glue on ribbon connections so they don’t pull out by themselves. Using for months now with no problem. It’s just loose fragile connections. Cheers

Yeah that sucks. Totally agree with you about the FrSky R9 system, I bought the pre ACCESS version and persisted with it for months. I finally switched to crossfire and couldn’t be happier. My advice to people thinking about 900 mhz would be buy crossfire or just stick to 2.4 ghz 👍

I used mine for I think 4 years without issue and switched to the Jumper T16 . So far so good after one ribbon cable problem . I do miss the quality of the Taranis though . I wish we could get a good quality 5inOne OpenTx radio from someone . I'd gladly pay $230-250 for a Taranis type quality built one .

Is there a fix yet I had drones all set up and flown them and today I went to fly sd card lost all my drones and it set me to calibrate screen

Lmao, that’s the exact error a lot of us were getting on our tango 2s, they also go to calibration. I added a new sd card along with some reflashinh directions from mike chin and I’ve been good for about a week now .

I have a very similar issue with my T-18 Lite. Not as bad as in your case, but something is very wrong, as the radio cannot read the SD card properly. I found that under not clear conditions something triggers a reset to default, and deletes the contents of the Radio folder file that have the list of models to be shown in the screen and lets you access a blank Model 1 after you re-calibrate the sticks. I reported this issue to Jumper yesterday and expect some response from them. Anyway, given that they are so focused in the SD reader, I'm starting to wonder if for whatever reason the processor misses the SD card for a couple polls, it goes into the reset routine. I did not have such an issue in my Taranis transmitter and if the Radiomaster doesn't show that either, that suggests there is a hardware issue that must be solved and properly reported to the Jumper community. BTW I bought the unit in October 2020.

Jumper needs to own up to some of the problems with their radios. I had a problems with my Jumper t8sg plus V2 and I could not get any help from them, it seems as though they were saying I caused this issue.. Please do your research before purchasing!. Thanks for the review Albert!!

Some of the posters over on the T18 RC Groups thread act the same . NO NO No , you did something wrong , when all you did is switch it on and it didn't work right one day ,lol.

I have this radio for almost 2 weeks without problems for now. Didn't choose tx16s because of the looks and (besides the roller) the build quality seemed better because radiomaster is just new in the market. Lets see what they i'll do in the coming months. The t16 had a bunch of revisions and new parts to update. A new roller, touch screen, hissing sound, maybe a new piece for the top to place a second antenna for the 2.4ghz. These are my mainly regrets with the radio. But it is a substantial upgrade from my qx7 though.

I have the same problem with my Jumper 16 after I updated open tx. It's a big paperweight now. This is why I did not buy the T18 yet. Thanks

They seems to rushed this radio into the market. They put 900 mHz that supposedly to work with R9 system to compete with the TX16S but Radiomaster just 'teamed up' with the Crossfire and sold the radio as a combo. Even if you wish to have the R9 ecosystem, just buy the TX16S with R9 module and got the full power and still cheaper than a T18.

Solo glad I went with a T16.

I’m glad I’ve got the radiomaster tx16s coming, I’m sure that I made the right choice, a much better radio overall.

Let me guess jumper will go out of business, they will join with some disgruntled radiomaster employees and start a company called jumpmaster pumping out the same disposable fast fashion gear with a new model that's basically the same as the old model every week.

I just had the same problem Albert. Before I even turned on the radio the internet said that sd card is so small, change it for at least a 30 gig one. So i did. The transmitter worked like yours, horrible. I put back in the original SD card turned it on and everything worked ok, after a couple of hours of thinking and frustration. If for some reason you need a larger card you must transfer the data on the original card to the new sd card etc ...there fore you shud back up the original files on the original sd card some where. Apparently if you lose the original you can update a new card from the internet and it will carry the info needed to start the transmitter normally and not in that dum do nothing thing we both had. Hey, I am no tech i am 79 year old fart, this jumper stuff is all new to me and I am trying to learn it the hard way, but the internet is helping. Happy Flying

I tried multiple different sd cards in various sizes. I tried over 10 cards.

You are so, so right about the mess of FrSKy's ecosystem.. its not just R9 either. ACCESS is just a mess and made me jump to Crossfire. I made a stop at the Jumper T16 (pro hall super dooper blah blah) with a Crossfire module, and have finally landed at Tango 2 Pro, and couldn't be happier.

I don't think this is still an issue anymore. I have the latest T18 and I have been bench testing all before shipping and all 100 pass rate. You got an early one for review and these always have issues that's why you got it so you can give feedback.

I can't say anything about what is going on now, but it's clear whenever Jumper makes a new product, the first few batches are beta products and the customers who buy them are just beta testers.

My friends Horus X10 has this same problem. His SD card was bad.

Mine came with a broken switch fixed it with the tinyhawk remote

I don’t really see any value in this controller over the tx16s. The 900mhz is cool but I’m not really willing to make the trade off for poor 2.4g range and if your are really wanting to do LR just get a micro tx as they are getting pretty cheap. And there’s also for some reason no internal charging which is very stupid. I’m glad I went with the tx16s

I got the t18 and sad card was corrupt. Reinstalled sad card content and no issues yet. That being said, I use the tx16s plus soooo......... the first $120 bucks buys my t18!!!

I downloaded the firmware and that was the source of the issue to be sure

Your ribbon cable looked cockeyed but I suppose you checked that already. Reviewer Oscar Liang showed how his T-18 had no ribbon cables to go bad because they do. I guess the pro is different. Another thing I learned from you is I'd return the radio immediately and make them fix their own problem. Even if it was free I'd have to return it. I'd ask them if they really wanted a bad review? Hope that's helpful and thanks for your honesty as other people have mentioned

Thanks for the info. Shocking customer service from Jumper. They have been talking to you so know that there is a problem and that you are likely to post it on KZread if it doesn't get resolved. You'd think a company would have been jumping up and down to make sure such a damning review doesn't get out but clearly couldn't be bothered. Just shows how little pride and faith they have in the product and don't really care what potential customers like me think.

Some people never learn. Nobody thought about checking the radio before sending it to reviewers? Or sending radios to reviewers BEFORE sending them to the customers? And the issues continues with Jumper...

I purchased the T16 Pro last year. It has never worked properly. Now, I have ribbon cables coming from China which will supposedly fix my issues. Disappointing to hear that the latest models also have issues. i will never buy another Jumper product.

Buying any chinese radio is a risk. It could be good or bad. Radio Master also has problems. I got T18 as replacements of t16, it was too many rxloss. And it works just fine. No rxloss any more. Range with internal antenna very good. Gimbals on t18 pro way better then on t16, you have to try to it. I am very happy with t18 pro. Sorry Albert, you got bad radio, as was mine t16.

I know this is an older video by now but i figured id comment on it since i know a thing or two and it could help someone possibly... Storage Warning, Bad radio data - Can be from several reasons.. incomplete or bad files in the firmware update.. Bad sd card. sd card too large.. sd card in wrong format.. sd socket has bent pins, etc.. But the most likely scenario is that people are using cards that are too big.. I have an 8GB card in mine and it works absolutely perfect. This is actually my favorite radio of all time. When i first got it i slapped a high speed 128GB card in it and i had none stop problems until i finally put an 8GB in it and then it immediately came to life with no issues at all. Don't NOT get the radio if you want it. Of coarse there are gonna be a few that are legitimately screwed up. That happens sometimes when you mass produce things like this. Sometimes quality control doesnt catch everything. Sometimes things get jiggled loose in shipping.. But the vast majority are going to be completely fine and work as intended. If you want the T18 or T18-pro, get it. It's a great radio. @albert did you ever get this radio going?

Yeah, I ended up buying a spare mainboard from eBay for about $45 + shipping. Swapped it out and it works fine now. I think mine had a bad SD card slot. I used the same microSD card from before and it worked fine on the new board. Also, it's a card from a Taranis X9D that was already working so I knew the card was fine even though I also tried about 10 other cards just in case. Like most things that come out of early production, the error rate is a bit higher at the beginning and I'm sure they probably worked out the bugs in later batches. They just didn't feel like helping me out unfortunately. They thought I didn't know what I was doing and kept saying the radio is perfect and that I was at fault. I'm sure if they are so easy to blame an experienced reviewer, they will have no problem doing the same to less experienced customers. I know for a fact they have already done this to many customers (now former customers).

Radiomaster called their TX16S and Crossfire combo as MasterFire for a reason :p

Damn, what a piece of shit ! Thanks for the heads-up, glad I didn't get one. Don't forget anyone wanting to switch to Crossfire, there is an exchange program for your R9 gear through TBS.
