Everything looks LUSH and BEAUTIFUL!!! I planted 30 Showy Milkweeds from seed and only have 1 survivor! I agree… this is the hardest thing I have ever grown. And i don't know anyone who sells them. Oh well at least we both have a surving plant! Yay!!! Awesome Tour Janey! 🧡❤️💜💙💚

Good morning. What a very cute addition to the family. Love the name it really fits the bunny. With most blueberries or any type of shrub fruit it will take about 3 growing seasons before you can really see it take off with fruit. The side yard to me looks like you just looked after the plants that needed to be cut back. There is nothing wrong the way it looks. Thank you for taking us on the tour. You have done well and keep going. Have a wonderful rest of your day my friend.

Always love seeing your beautiful gardens! I'm in zone 8b and Pentas do VERY well here. I usually plant them in the ground, but this year I planted one in a pot. Unfortunately, our unrelenting triple digit temps and little rain has taken its toll even on this extremely hardy plant! 😕 It's hanging on though, LOL. What a treasure that adorable pot is your daughter made for you!! If you haven't already, consider having her (and her friend?) sign the bottom and/or put the year on it. Years from now, when you're an empty nester, like me, it will help to remind you which child made it for you and what year. So sweet!! 🌺🌺🌺 Oh! And, how could I forget to mention that SWEET bunny! Too cute!! 🐰😍

I just saw a video about MILKWEED that said all milkweeds have these bugs - you can either leave them on as they will not harm the plant, or gently wash them away - they will actually attract ladybugs :) 👍😃👍🌸

Clicked for the bunny! I know Nor Cal/Davis is super Ag, since I grew up there, so I learned only as an adult what EXCELLENT house-pets rabbits are (especially after spay/neuter) as an adult, when my sister got one and then moved in with me. Lizzie (Elizabeth Bunnet) slept in her custom hutch in the living room, and stayed in there (or with a larger pen around it) when she was home alone, but when we were home, she loved to come check out what was up on the couch and get some pets, get zoomies running around the living room rug, or explore new baskets, boxes, or her tunnel. She didn’t like the laminate floor much, so we never had to worry about her sneaking into our bedrooms to play her favorite game (“under”). Buns are the perfect apartment pet. She died this year at the ripe age of probably 14! I am sure Hermione will befriend the cat, if not the dog too, because they are social animals and like being bonded with a best friend or two besides their people. But if you decided to get a bun friend for her, check out any local bun rescues. Rabbits multiply like well, rabbits, so there are always too many buns out there. The rabbit rescues tend to know a lot about the buns they take in, about their different personalities or temperaments, medical needs, etc, and my local rescue offers “bunny matchmaking/dating” to help owners with pair bonding their existing bun, which can be challenging to DIY! They also have really affordable boarding for when we travelled and an excellent shop with several types of farm fresh hay, way better and cheaper than the pet store stuff!

Going to be gorgeous in that corner area and yes I have always read that you are suppose to enjoy your gardens as much from inside through the windows as outside. The oak tree garden is one of those I literally love and makes me feel like I'm in a park. It has mini hostas up to the tree, astilbes on the front corners, a mass planting of the sure fire red begonias and in the background behind the tree I have a beautiful drift of reblooming yellow day Lillies. My husband who passed away in fall of 2020 loved red flowers and you can easily see that garden from our bedroom so he loved looking at that garden. He started to get more disabled with his ability to walk so he spent a lot of time enjoying that garden. We live on a large corner lot right in town so I would take him in the car and drive around the corner so he could see the entire yard and all the gardens I do each year since he couldn't walk that much later on I also have a white bird bath in that garden and a beautiful statue of a young boy with his dog.

Everything looks amazing. Definitely aphids on the milkweed. Mine is covered. I'm new to growing it but I decided to just leave the aphids and other bugs (ladybugs, lacewings and wasps)seem to be taking care of them. I've had a ton of monarch eggs on them and just released my first two females yesterday so I'm glad I decided not to spray. Really enjoy watching your progress. :)

Oh my, Janey, that bunny is too cute for words. Here in Southeast, FL, the plants are definitely stressed by the heat. We humans are too. The humidity is 73% right now, temp is 84 with a high of 93. It is 9:30 in the morning. The heat just sucks the energy out of this 70 year old gardener. LOL. Loved the tour and I am so in love with the Sparkling Amethyst verbena. I am going to be putting that in my garden next season as well as in pots. It has been such a great performer in your garden. As always, thank you for sharing.

One video, a guy used tape around a pencil to collect up the aphids from his plants. In another, someone vacuumed them up off their milkweed! I’ve read that the butterfly eggs are more firmly stuck on, so a blast of water, etc will knock aphids off but not the eggs?

Also, they don’t really need full sun but heat and no strong wind.. but no full sun ☀️ the leaves witch are full of water crisp up /get fried.. but a-lot of water is a must 😊

A really beautiful vine that loves partial sun and has a wonderful scent is my favorite "Stephanotis floribunda". It has waxey, bell-shaped flowers and shiny green leaves. They use the flowers in wedding posies and hair styles. Check it out......hoping you can get one in California. Another climber is black eyed Suzy.....you can get in pink, red, orange, white and it's easy to grow and doesn't grow crazy like honeysuckle or plumbago. Cheers, Jo. NZ

Listen to you...stoked..spoken like a true Cali girl 😊 I would love to see the hummingbirds, we don't get the pretty ones on the east coast. You could put a plant stand by the greenhouse, it would give you something to sit plants on, while in "storage". I watch a girl in Dublin...Dainty Diaries...she has one with her potted strawberries on it. LOL, I bet the honeysuckle was thanking you while you were butchering it. Nice tour, everything, well most everything looks beautiful 😊 Awwww, how sweet, thank them for me, and let them know I think it's beautiful.

Oh yeah, for sure those are aphids. I had a TON of those guys on my milkweed. I squished them but they still persisted when I forgot to repeat squish. Ii was so bad I thought they had killed my plant since I didnt know milkweed died off in the winter (before I knew anything about plants). But they sprang back the next year better than ever and I had an army of ladybug larvae arrive for the aphid show and nature found a wonderful balance.

For the ballet slippers: Im zone 10a, but i have one about three years old, and i wish i put it somewhere else because of how big it got. Hopefully before you plant it, Put it in an area that has lots of soil moisture, It will LOVE it! so if you have an area that you find the soil stays wetter choose that, mine also is about 4 feet tall now, and It may make you want to put it somewhere else than the front of the flower bed just because of it, it also is probably 3 feet wide. Its a bit like a clematis in that it likes its feet in the shade and its head in the sun.. Just wanted to tell you in case you change your mind or didn't know as im a pretty similar zone to you, and it may help! but you also know your garden better than anyone☺

For your fence area. I got inspiration from Linda Vater. She uses heavenly bamboo (nandina) to camouflage the fence and then underplants with other perrenials. Nandina has year round interest and it does well in our zone 9b. Roses are beautiful but they spend much of the year as sticks in the garden. That's why I'm cutting back on roses in my garden. I am trying to go for more evergreen plants. I love your honeysuckle. I'm thinking of trying to train something like that on my patio posts.

Your garden is beautiful! Thank you for sharing! This year I grew squash vertically following next level gardening and, holy cow, I will never grow squash any other way. I have four squash in a four sqft area and no problems of pests or fungus. That’s saying something in my zone 7b Virginia humidity!

Wonderful tour!!! I was wondering if it is worth creating temporary sun protection over your two metal stock tanks? It seems like a nice spot for the tanks in your yard, although is it holding in too much heat for plants to flourish, especially in the peak of summer in California?

The bunny is so cute!!! 😃 Love your tours and how everything is evolving. You have so many gorgeous plants! I have watched the progress since you planted them and I feel happy for you. There are always some that suffer more. They would either reboud or die, there is nothing we can do about it 😡😪 I am sure your honeysuckle will bounce back. As to the milkweed, alphids! I have several milkweed plants and they get aphids all the time. They take over them, but I just let them be as they won't harm the plant. Monarchs don't really care. If you want, you can run your fingers along the leaves and squish them. Try to kill all of them though as they are asexual and will quickly reproduce. 😜

Aphids. I rub them off. Gross, I know. On a different note, regarding your back fence, the rust colored posts and frame, consider painting the posts and structure framing a charcoal color before applying/installing the new white diamond treatment. This will put all the attention on the gorgeousness off the white diamonds. Good luck.

What is the thing that you have your honeysuckle growing on? Did you make it?

Check out Jes on KZread and especially the video of her sister's cut flower garden. I thought about you and the new land that you are going to be planting. FYI the Summerific hibiscus get pretty big. This was my first year with mine and I was surprised how big it grew.( OOPS! Just watched your Monday plant video and saw that you already got this memo!) I think you picked a good spot for it . I love your videos and garden and I have learned so much!!
