@@josue24Well, she had her tonsils removed in early 1960, when she was just 24 years old (born on 1935.10.1), for the excessive work pressure on Broadway and in West End; however, not long after that she began to rehearsal the next musical. When she was "found" (not precise though, because she had been very famous in the stage musical field) by Walt Disney, she was pregnant, but still performing her musical on stage-- two hours a night, many performances a week… In Hollywood, she made extraordinary success (broke box office' record, just as broke the performances' record on Broadway before), but was stereotyped, and how huge her success was often ignored by today's people, especially fans in movie circle-- till today, she IS stereotyped. Returning Broadway, "Putting it Together" (1993. I especially love her version of "Getting Married Today") wasn't known by many people; she lost her singing voice for excessive pressure in old age of playing "Victor/Victoria" (1995) in 1997… Many people (even herself) thought she was lucky, but I just want to say, what she had paid and even sacrificed, deserves much more fame, recognition and fair judge by today's people.

In the behind the scenes for the first Princess Diaries 2, Julie was singing during one part of the movie, in a way that she could actually do (she had had the surgery on her throat that made it difficult to sing, but told the producers she could sort of do it if the notes weren't too high, etc), pretty much everyone on and off the set were streaming tears because they thought she would never be able to sing anything ever again. And btw Julie, your too modest, thats not high for you, you sang high B-flats and Cs like no tomorrow.

I hope I can still find this album in CD, as it is purely exquisite for the holidays. Amazing as a child, she sang for the King, TV star in Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella", a young Broadway star in "Camelot" and "My Fair Lady", won Best Actress Oscar in her first movie, "Mary Poppins" and a beloved eternal treasure in "Sound of Music". I am crying right now...my heart broke at 5:52....this woman is an inspiration... and 'her eyes as blue as the azure sky, has depth of the deepest ocean, has warmth and love enough to heal the whole world'....I have read her memoirs but listening it from her makes me realize even more that she has lead such a tough life...always taking care of others...always there for others and as Emma put it "I have never known a more resilient woman in my life".....she is the epitome of optimism, hope and everything positive even when she was fighting her own battles personally, she always gave the world so much joy and happiness..Dame Julie says she is lucky but i say that infact it is us who are lucky to have lived during the times of Dame Julie Andrews....i hope she received all the love that she deserved...much more love and good health to her..love always ❤️ ❤️

I remember growing up thinking that Julie Andrews was the most lovely and classy woman I’d ever seen. There was always something so warm and genuine about her. Almost like an endearing grandmother who’d bake cookies and sing you to sleep. Still love her to this day, and when I have children, I’m certainly introducing them to her greatness.
