If you are not doing nothing wrong than a quick stop and search shouldn’t bother you if it’s for the safety of the community

I don't care if people are offended about stop and search, the safety of ALL the public is more important than people being upset and offended.

Police have a job to do, which involves checks. If they don't check, things WILL go unnoticed, and end in crime. Just do as they ask, and carry on with your day. What's the problem? Unless of course you have something to hide...

I’ve agreed with Julia Brewer about almost everything… however on this I disagree. Why is it that someone’s feelings being hurt are more of a concern than that of a young man being murdered in cold blood on our streets through gang violence and knife crime. I’m gobsmacked at her take on this. She is normally the voice of reason.

You stop and search in an area predominantly black area. Figures will show blacks are search more.

The police have far too much power in general and this is one example. Freedom over controlling and over dramatic laws!! It seems to me that the people of England don't value their freedom and would rather there be a law for everything not just in terms of stop and search but FOR EVERYTHING!

Julia has got it wrong on this occasion. You stop and search the people who are manly involved in knife crime. You are never going to reduce knife crime if you are scared of upsetting a certain demographic. Surely stopping young men and boys dieing is the most important aspect.

Bodycams should not be selectively turned on and off. From picking it up until putting it down it should be ON. Downloaded immediately upon return and archived for years and on WORM drives kept indefinitely. There is NO reason any Police officer should stop recording with one exception, and they should leave it and their uniform jacket in the car or at their desk, leaving ALL authority and right to act in authority with their camera. If it's not recorded it did not happen, and if there's a hole in their recording they are required to face a full official review. That one thing would fix so many issues.

I'm white I also have been stopped and searched many times as a teen. If you have nothing it's no problem it takes a matter of 2 min to do and causes no harm. I was a terror teen and never carried a knife It was a pain for getting my weed taken that got on my nerves but it's not just minorities being stopped I'm living proof of that. The stats tell you that minorities are more likely to carry a knife so it's common sense if your trying to stop knife crime that minorities will be searched more because they are more likely to be carrying one. If you have nothing you shouldn't be bothered to much if it's keeping you safer.

What's the problem then, if you don't have anything on you.

Anecdotes are not evidence, it's not even statistics, to support or not support actions based upon them is flawed... Just because somebody tells you something or you go around asking does not make your answers factual, it makes them anecdotal without procedure, repetition and awareness of bias and criteria.

Controversial opinion but all body worn cameras footage should be downloaded to a third party secure location and not handled by the police. If the police 'lose' the footage or it goes missing then Police forces need to be fined. Only way we're going to truly hold the police to account.

Julia, when you have a certain culture who commit more knife crime than others, then it makes sense to up the stop and search on this culture. What if they didn't stop and search because someone was black, and that person then went onto murder someone. Stop and search should be upped on everyone regardless of skin colour and the only people who don't agree with it are the ones committing the crimes or the ones who know a certain culture commit most of the knife crimes but they don't want them searched just because of their skin colour.

Stop everyone including pensioners - army should get involved , nothing more dangerous than a granny with a Union Jack ,

Why are they only stopping young men, why aren’t they stopping older people and pensioners. May be it’s because that demographic isn’t stabbing people! I wonder what demographic are more likely to be the victims and perpetrators of these stabbings.

A friend of my wife, she's white and is married to a black bloke. He's got a good career in mechanical engineering. He used to be in the army. Worked on fixing subs. He drives a very sporty looking BMW. He gets pulled over by the police in stop and search probably twice a week. To him now its routine. He even has all documents ready on his phone. He knows what theyre gonna ask. Even when his wife and kid are in the car coming back from the shops. His wife is more angry at them than he is now, because we all obviously know why he's getting pulled over. Some are the same cops. They even recognise them now. So they don't do any checks, not really. Or else why keep doing it. They just a see a black guy in a very nice car and are hoping for a quick arrest. Sometimes they even pull them over when he's a passenger and she's driving. I've heard people favouring the cops say they should get another car thats wouldn't attract their attention. Why should they. They bloody worked hard to get that car. He said I'm not going let them win and he showed me the new car hes gonna get soon on his phone. Fair play to him.

Here in Amsterdam the most expensive cars are found in a so called poor neighborhood a lot of people on benefits. I am sorry to have to say its a muslim area. But are complaining about racial profiling.

If so, if they gain weight in that 12 month period, they should get fined or forced to fast and condemned to an hour a day on a treadmill, until they reach an acceptable % for the state to feel they are no longer a burden to the NHS
