Judy Garland with Diahann Carroll-Rodgers and Arlen Medley

Ойын-сауық

I was going to wait a bit to upload this video because it was not to long ago that this was on youtube. But I was looking through my videos and realized when I titled this video I forgot to put who she sings it with.
I have no idea who she is!?!
UPDATE: I fixed it. Thanks to the lovely people of KZread.

Diahann Carroll: Born July 17, 1935 - Died October 4, 2019 at the age of 84 (Cancer). She was an American actress, singer and model. She rose to stardom in performances in some of the earliest major studio films to feature black casts, including Carmen Jones in 1954 and Porgy and Bess in 1959. In 1962, Carroll won a Tony Award for best actress, a first for a black woman, for her role in the Broadway musical No Strings. Her 1968 debut in Julia, the first series on American television to star a black woman in a nonstereotypical role, was a milestone both in her career and the medium. In the 1980s she played the role of a mixed-race diva in the primetime soap opera Dynasty. Carroll was the recipient of numerous stage and screen nominations and awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress In A Television Series in 1968. She received an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination for the 1974 film Claudine.

A lot of people don't know that Diane Carroll was once a Model for Ebony. Her singing is strongly underrated. Her voice is really divine. She was one of Broadway's most colorful actresses. I have never seen her make a fashion mistake and she has always been the definition of 'dignity' for any woman. There's a book on her and Sidney Portier. He spurned this beautiful woman. What does this mean? What exactly is her "just due"? She won the Golden Globe in 1968 for best actress in a television series. She also won a Tony Award in 1962, but that's Broadway, not "Hollywood". In 76 she had the Diahann Carroll show. A summer replacement show in the Carol Burnett slot. That's not a sign of disrespect. She has experienced racism of course, she was born in 1935 after all. But she was also part of helping to bring down that racism. But I can't find where she's been slighted. From what I've seen she's considered a well respected icon of the industry.

@filmmekker: Judy also had Count Basie on her show. And as Brendan Konicki said, The Judy Garland Show only lasted for 26 weeks. In addition, she had several other minority guests and/or groups on her show, such as Latino, etc. And this was in 1963!

Wow, this just makes you beam from ear to ear, Judy was so sweet and affectionate with her guest, and Diahann is the spitting image of my Aunt!
