JUDY GARLAND: 'THE LAST DANCE' WITH GENE KELLY.

Музыка

Audio performed by Judy Garland on 'The Judy Garland Show,' taped March 13, 1964, dancing with Gene Kelly in 'For Me & My Gal.'
Although more commonly associated with Frank Sinatra, 'The Last Dance' , sung by Judy, is with such profound intensity that it simply shatters emotions. Her expressions of longing, wistful desires ... a hope for her love 'to save me the first dance in your dreams.'
When I chose this song to share, I created several tracks of video that just didn't seem to capture the essence of what I was hearing.
Finally ... watching the theme song sequence from 'For Me & My Gal' ... I added the clip to the audio. Judy & Gene Kelly dancing. Of course, it was too fast ... so, I slowed it down to match the tempo of the musical arrangement ... & the effect, I have to say, is astounding. There are several places where the audio & video are so well synchronized, as if they were meant to be together - like Judy & Gene - for 'The Last Dance.'
Words and music by Sammy Cahn & Jimmy Van Heusen.
It's the last dance, we've come to the last dance
They're dimming the lights down, they're hoping we'll go
It's obvious they're aware of us, the pair of us, alone on the floor
Still I want to hold you like this forever and more
It the last song, they're playing the last song
The orchestra's yawning, they're sleepy I know
They're wondering just when will we leave, but till we leave, keep holding me tight
Through the last dance, each beat of the last dance
Save me the first dance in your dreams tonight
They're wondering just when will we leave, but till we leave, keep holding me tight
Through the last dance, each beat of the last dance
And save me the first dance in your dreams tonight
This audio performance is available on the CD titled 'That Old Feeling: Classic Ballads from the Judy Garland Show.' (2005)

@honeybee7700 I know!!!!! I think Judy was so beautiful - I've just started watching some of her movies, and what an actress - the way she could cry and make you wanna cry with her...thank god she made lots of wonderful films so later generations can see how special she was.

These two really loved each other....you can tell with later movies how they gaze at each other and Gene always kissed Judy differently....

Gene really turned on Judy during the filming of Summer Stock. I'm sure he had a hand in Judy being fired. Read this more than once from different authors!

What was so hurtful to Judy was she brought Mr. Kelly to the studio and insisted he play opposite her in her next film For Me and My Gal. How soon Gene Kelly forgot that!!!

@@russellcandy9850 this couldn't be further from the truth. Gene actually did Summer Stock (a movie he wasn't very interested in) to pay back her kindness to him on his first movie. He is one of the many who helped and cheer leadered her through. He also had nothing to do with her being let out of her contract. I'd love to know your research and sources for this information.

@@MsWesty81 Trust me. I know what I'm talking about. During the filming Gene repeatedly complained that Judy was being unprofessional and at one point screamed that he would NEVER work with Judy again. Not only have I read this but I also had a friend (now deceased) who was a personal friend of one of Judy's children. I can't say which one.

@@russellcandy9850 and why can't you say which child? Her children were either too young or not yet born to know exactly what happened during that film. What do you mean you know what you're talking about, I am still waiting for proper evidence and sources? I have been reading and researching Judy for 30 years now and I actually know personally her most knowledgeable biographer. If you look at quotes from anybody who worked on that movie (all carefully selected to support Judy through it) you will find that there is absolutely zero evidence to what you say. I can (and will) cite anything I say here with reliable sources should you request and I expect you can do the same, instead of the he said/she said/friend of a friend nonsense that people throw about.
