I dont have idols, but if there is one person i look up to when it comes to music and acting, its her. Her voice. Her ability to command and dazzle. Hypnotic with her talent. I also admire the strength she had while she had it. I wish she had freedom to be. I suppose that's exactly why she left us. I understand that. Her legacy still lives on in those that love her.

She was so special and loved by all who knew her this is just so sad.

Yeah it’s awful to look back on, but I think it’s worth remembering she was a teenager- bought by the studios and sold off by her mother. She was terribly abused by both and had zero agency or control during that particular part of her career. When judging her we have to keep in mind the time period(even though I’m aware that the black community never found this acceptable, rightly so, and protested black face many times) it was almost a hundred years ago. I’m glad we gave it on film though, because as they say, those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
