She's singing live folks. At the first she was straining to hear the 1st view notes over the audience. The best live performer we have ever seen! I hope she's one of the first people I get to meet in heaven.

As Mort Lindsey Judy's conductor from this period has said. She never sang a song the same way twice she always varied. This LIVE video proves it. This was from her show. A show that was undermined by CBS powers that be. Judy had alot riding on this and wanted it to succeed. But it was cancelled the show was not a failure but she viewed it as such. And never really recovered from that fact. The end of her series started her rapid decline. That was filled with highs but outweighed by 2 many lows.

Show #14 in the series was recorded a week to the day after John F. Kennedy's assassination. It wasn't an easy show to do given Judy's friendship with JFK. The country and many, many people around the world were in a state of shock. Despite Judy's wish to cancel the show which would have cost her quite dearly, she put on what I consider to be one of the finest of the non-concert shows and there's no better proof of this than her knock-em dead rendition of this song.

I love the jazzy arrangement. Mel Torme? It's raucous and wild, a real party. Will she make it? Yes, she gets there on time, with that wonderful last note, as the orchestra piles up behind her. Magic.

It was Mort Lyndsey her conductor. She sang it first in a concert in '62 at the Manhattan Centre which was to be called Judy Takes Broadway. Unfortunately she had laryngitis, and the album was never released although she completed about 9 songs. The recordings are out there, Capital released a CD called Judy Live. But there are out-takes and stuff not released. Other great new arrangements were, Sail Away, Something's Coming, Joey, Joey Joey, Never Will I Marry, Some People, Hey Look Me Over, Get Me To The Church On Time, Just In Time (but she had done this one before) and The Party's Over. This is from memory so not in order.

@dawoool This was her TV SHOW, LIVE, and was having some demon battles....with her confidence.... She had problems galore with Mel Torme' writer of songs and caused her some horrible grief on many occasions, in 1964, opposite of Bonanza and was canceled...Killed her soul for the twentieth time, once again....HTH In Whg, WV....

Hellokitty: Her voice is like that at this point in her life, because she's been singing, doing radio work full of impressions, etc. for most of the minutes of her life, over the last 39 years. Type in her name on youtube with the year 1942, and you'll fall in love.
