My first dnd session I spent hours setting up a character while everyone at the table judged and berated my every choice, I waited several more hours for them all to "go down the street to the gas station and be right back," and then the session ended after about 10 minutes because the DM refused to tell me ANYTHING about what was going on while he rushed me to choose to do the right thing on not just minimal but faulty info. We TPK'd to enemy reinforcements, after an agregiously bad pair of descriptions resulted in PvP and the table insisted there were no takebacks allowed. I was banned from the table after that, to rub salt in the wound. For those curious, the HELLHOUND was decribed as "a dog" and I was told "players 1 and 2 are fighting" as a distinct fact removed from the "dog." So, when they rushed me to do something, I picked a side and attacked a fellow player. To which the whole table responded by killing me, before the hellhound, because, even though they heard me explain my player logic, they decided to keep their responses in-character. 🙄
