Judge dismisses involuntary manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin
The involuntary manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin for the "Rust" on-set shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins collapsed Friday when a New Mexico judge dismissed the case with prejudice.
The stunning announcement came hours after Baldwin's defense attorney, Alex Spiro, argued that prosecutors hid critical evidence from them that may have been crucial in the case. Baldwin was facing 18 months in prison if he had been convicted.

The case was problematic from the beginning. They never found out how the live ammo got onto the set in the 1st place. Then they went ahead & criminally prosecuted the armorer. Sure, she was negligent with her lax standards on the job. But how do we know someone didn’t frame her (& Baldwin) by purposely placing a live bullet into the gun in question, then telling Alec Baldwin it was a safe gun. This is possible. The investigators & prosecutor weren’t thorough in their duties. They didn’t uncover everything they needed to in order to serve justice. From what we do know, at best, Alec Baldwin was liable in civil case, not a criminal one.

I agree!! This case bears a striking resemblance to the Karen Read case, in which the evidence presented was insufficient to secure a conviction. It appears that a trend of concealing criminal activity is rising.

Awesome!
The state withheld evidence. The decision was definitely the correct decision.
I would suggest that the FBI probe this further. If ammunition was brought to this set on purpose, those people should be prosecuted?

Who plays with guns pointing it at people an idiot hold him responsible oh but he is rich oh sorry never mind
This is the best explanation I've heard as to why the bullets might have exonerated Baldwin, if turned over to the defense. Been totally confused on that time now.
I have to admit that Hilaria behaved very well in court and she was genuinely relieved by the dismissal.
I think Hannah Gutierrez-Reed conviction will be overturned too after this
They use live rounds not for firing but for camera shots. The front camera shots the live rounds are used for camera shots you can see the lead bullet in the revolver. After the camera shots the live rounds must be removed from the revolver and stored in a secure location so the will not be put in the revolver when shots are being fired. Only banks are fired on a movie set. Someone messed up by leaving the live rounds on the movie set after the camera shots were finished.

Baldwin wasn’t the director, Joel Souza was. And neither an actor nor the director is not responsible for on-set gun safety. That’s the armorer’s job.
Why wouldn’t he show up? His, I presume very expensive, lawyers would have told him that it’s not a good look if he didn’t show up
