Alec Baldwin Judge Slams Prosecutor For Cutting Her Off: ‘I’m Not Finished’

Things became fiery in the courtroom on Friday morning during the Alec Baldwin trial as the defense and the state argued over conduct in the courtroom and other issues. When the state cut off the judge and asked to respond to the defense's statement, Judge Sommer responded by saying, "I'm not finished!" When state attorney Kari Morrisey tried to continue talking, Sommer cut her off, hinting to Morrissey to end her statement.

Judge Mary Marlowe Summer is a hero.. What a great judge. she is not going to put up with State hiding evidence. >> Agreeing with the defense that the state did not disclose possibly consequential evidence, the judge said, "The sanction of dismissal is the only warranted remedy."

Deliberately withholding any evidence, let alone exculpatory evidence, is unforgivable. And since that prosecutor lied about it to both the judge and the defense repeatedly and then got busted on it, after the jury was sworn in, thats it, the judge had to dismiss the case with prejudice. And frankly, the prosecutor should be sanctioned and disbarred.

@Patricia-cy7ij Seems to me (from what I saw) she didn't follow the rules and apparently took liberties working with law enforcement that extended beyond the scope of her role. She is not a detective and should not have had influence over the decision by the detective and the CST to put (bury) the evidence under a different case number. And incredibly, she then lied about it...after the case was dismissed - when being interviewed outside. Hancock said it was she, Morrisey and Popple who determined it should not be part of the evidence for this trial. We are supposed to have a fair justice system and when a prosecutor is making investigatory decisions and exceeding the known boundaries, this is what needs to happen. My concern is that there could be innocent people in jail that have suffered from this type of activity - and had a judge who did not make a just decision to dismiss the case.
