Before the moment of Bobby walking in, this scene illustrates how J.R. and Jock were alike in a lot of ways. They could just banter about business endlessly, even in the wake of a family crisis. It shows how much J.R. learned from Jock and how in sync they were when it came to the goings in in the business and political world of Dallas. Bobby would get there eventually, but it's nice to see J.R and Jock connect here, even if it is about business!
