JP IV Buddy Build -- Sd.Kfz.250/9 Post-build Review (Dragon 6316)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today we will look at Dragon's Sd.Kfz.250/9 Neu (Ausf.B correctly) 2cm Reconnaissance. This is a decent kit, and has some upgrades in this "premium" boxing that bring the level of detail up to modern standards. However, the base kit is from 1998 (same as me!) and the poor integration of the new parts with the old instructions results in some frustration.
For a review of the Sd.Kfz.250/1 Neu, and more depth on the interior of this kit, check out Hamilkar Barkas' review here: • "JP IV Buddy Build" - ...

DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

I should point this out before somone else does. Yes, I know the sockellafette turret from the Sd.kfz.222 and 250/9 Alte is not the same as the hängelafeffe turret from the Sd.kfz 250/9 Neu and Aufklärungspanzer 38(t) but they look pretty similar which is what i was referring to 😅

Panzermeister you may had well have been speaking a language from another planet haha. Love your work so much. I have recently applied for a museum job and began doing armor models shortly after finding you on youtube. You have given me a better life in helping my find something i love.

The book "Panzer Leader, Memiors of an Armoured Car Commander" by Otto Henning is a very entertaining reminiscence of him scuttling around Normandy in one of these as a recce troop member of Panzer Lehr . Some nice dio inspirations .

Hey mate, i am a bit late to the party! Its great to see our videos rolling and i hope that everyone who is interested in building one of these iconic halftracks finds it interesting to hear about our experience with the kits. They can be a pig at times, but in general they are nice and worthwhile. It would not be a Dragon kit if it was any different :) Looking forward to the next stages of this project and i can´t wait to see what you will do about the dio base :)

I think so too. It is a decent kit but has the usual Dragon flaws.

NOTE:Front brass vent screen goes on top of engine cover not below sand off the mould on old rectangular screen edges please, then place those nice brass ones on top like real vehicles.

Whoops. Well, the instructions clearly deceived me there. They show it mounting to the underside. There's even a deep recessed lip for the mesh to sit on...

Hi Evan Nice review mate! About the only Sd.Kfz.250 version that interests me with the turret. I do like the tub style body. Looks like Dragon still can’t get their instructions right 😂

This may sound crazy, but I make the engines and place them in the kit.🤨 Paint too. It is good 'practice' for me as weathering is not something I do well. Thanks for the post PZMIST36

That's a good idea! Personally I don't bother as I'm already a slow builder and it would be a lot of time invested into what can't be seen in the end, but that's just my style.

I bought it at a model convention in the USA last year. Sorry that doesn't help. But, I've seen recently that Dragon is re-releasing this kit soon, so it may be available again if you cannot find it online.

This video maxes out at 720p for me, which seems odd to me. It may be an issue on my end, just thought it worth mentioning. Will watch and enjoy regardless, of course :)
