We are back! In this episode we travel to the west and visit the famous Snæfellsnes peninsula - which is just around 2 hours drive north of Reykjavik. We journey through mountain passes, explore some hidden caves as well as visit some extinct volcano craters. There was far too much to see this time round so we’re definitely coming back later this year to visit the places we missed!
Enjoy!

Glad to have caught it at the end of summer with all the nice weather too. Getting rainy now!
That glacier on top of the volcano is a lot smaller now than it was when I was there in 1975. I was in the US Coast Guard then and we had a LORAN C station on that peninsula (7930 Whiskey). Because of Iceland, I went to Penn State and became a geologist. Thanks for the tour and best wishes.

Our pleasure & thanks for the interesting insight into the history of this area. That large radio station always fascinates me whenever I drive by it!
Wooow, I mean those landscapes just leave you with no words! The rock formations look like an art piece and seriously, a drive-in crater? Iceland really does have it all, doesn't it? 😍 Whenever we finally come and visit you guys, I'd like to order that weather please! I know it only happens two times a year, but please do try.. 😁

Come back any time!
Great video's on your channel! Much appreciated. I was trying to find the mountain pass, like maybe a road number. Could you share it by any chance?
@VividIceland
Жыл бұрын
The road number for the mountain pass is F570 - currently closed due to the snowy conditions. Usually just before summer they open the pass up and it's ready to be driven. Hope that helps! :)

Haha! Sorry (not sorry :P)
Do you need to use crampons when doing the Wonders of Snaefellsnes in late November?
@VividIceland
Жыл бұрын
No I don't think proper crampons would be needed, but it doesn't hurt to bring along a cheap pair of microspikes to give your shoes a little extra grip if it's icy.
Lovely landscape. Are you a tour guide in Iceland? Just asking.

It is indeed a beautiful country - this peninsula especially! To answer your question; we both work as tour guides here in Iceland, on the south coast.

Beautiful landscapes, but looks like there is a problem with video fame-rates, so the video is jerky.

Thanks! Could you let me know at what time the video frames are jerky? Might be an issue with the KZread compression... I will look into it 😊
