  • @KermitFrogThe

My son attended a school for people on the Autistic spectrum. I got told off for using the term normal because it could make their students think of themselves as abnormal. My response was 'That surely depends on what the term normal means to me. I work in It Dev. where being called normal is among the highest insults you can receive. for us it is synonymous with dull, boring and unexceptional.' Those thinking this was an extreme answer, please consider the message they were sending to the children there by censoring a word people would undoubtedly use against them. I am not normal, neither is my wife or son. My son struggles with intermittent depression, as most adolescents do, look up what happens in the brain at this time it becomes less surprising. Between these times he can see the strong underlying confidence he truly has and his range of talents. There are things he isn't naturally good at and things he is. Like most ASD what he does well he does brilliantly. Personal opinion, those with ambitions to be normal lack ambition. I recently posted a short video of my son at work to show how he was coping with the lock down. The responses were brilliant. He's a teen, Eddie's height, 115 to 120 kg so quite broad, walking sideways in our walled garden shooting an air pistol with terrifying accuracy at a a target looking totally at ease. He loves everything related to violence, history, guns, swords, combat games, video games, films almost the whole spectrum with one notable exception, actual violence. He is a massive scary pacifist who has no intention to ever hurt anyone and a presence of mind that means he will likely never have to. In his mind the truly violent are simply demonstrating their lack of intelligence and deserving of sheer contempt, not normal, brilliant.

We all want to be youtubers with 10 million subs, we all want to be business man with 10 billion $ on our bank account. Strongman, not powerlifting. Different events. And he quit it, because he was having to go to ridiculous and damaging extremes to make weight, as it were (he's myostatin-resistant, and strength athletes need at least some subcutaneous fat on them in order not to hurt themselves doing those lifts). But even so: yeah.

He’s a strongman not a power lifter. See any spastic positioning when Eddie lifts huge weight ? Does he do the splits and use under over grip to deadlift? Do some weird fucken backwards cat position to bench press ? No. He’s a real strong man not a douche bag tying weights to themselves and contorting their bodies to lift it. Real strength.

Also I think it doesn't help the millenial image to call everyone that's younger than them, like Gen X and Gen Y boomers. Specially because it was us who actually carried the transition into that change. If you call everyone boomer, then you give those criticizing you an excuse.

I have always been competitive whether it was in sports, school or talents such as art or music. I always wanted to be the best ast everything. But at the age of 16 is is when I started going to the gym because I had an issue with the way I looked(I weighed 120 kgs). 5 months in I had lost about 25 kgs. I cut all sugars, hit the gym every single day. What I later realised at the age of 18 is that I had this passion for lifting heavier weights. And I was also good at it. I watched Strongman for a while but never have I considered deadlifting or squatting heavy until I actually felt like I could be good at it. At 18 weighing 91 kgs I deadlifted 315 for my first ever deadlift. It felt really good. I went on to train for 1 month regularly then in a gym accident I broke my wrist. Doctors said my dream of becoming a strongman was over. 2 months pass by and I remove my cast. I started going to the gym again even though my doctor said otherwise. But I knew I wasn't going to give up. 3 months later I deadlifted 440 lbs, squatted 365 lbs and pressed 185 lbs overhead. And now that the coronavirus is here affecting us all I was forced to stop going to the gym again. I just turned 19 a week ago and I know that after this break is over I will come out even stronger than before. So don't give up guys. And thank you for reading this far.

Mental health is a serious issue, if you feel sad or alone try to find help... You will get through it no matter how hard it may be right now just take things one step at a time. If that means applying for a job, great. If that means trying to connect with people, great. If that means just getting out of bed, great. You are cared about. You are strong. You can do this.

@@ws43 that makes little sense as thor is Eddie's superior based on achievements- 1x WSM, 3x Arnold strongman classic consecutively, Europes strongest man a ridiculous number of times, elephant bar wr, bag over bar wr. The list goes on... Eddie has 1xWSM, the massive 500kg DL WR, both of which Colin Bryce has been suspiciously involved in as called out by Jerry Pritchett and Thor. Ironically eddie also complains to thor for uncalibrated weights when weights will be weighed on stream when eddie has a record using books as weights.
