I personally consider this as one of the greatest love songs ever written and recorded - 40 years later and this song has not lost one ounce of it's power. I can see why this was the band's biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, spending six weeks at #2.

Steve Perry is like no other. Such an awesome god given talent he has. Check out his songs "Strung Out" and "You Better Wait".

The keyboardist, Jonathan Cain, was with The Babys before he joined Journey, and he came up with the little piano Melody while he was with them. He played it for the Babys lead singer, John Waite, and he didn't like it. After joining Journey, he was playing the piano Melody, and Steve Perry heard it and asking what it was. Jonathan Cain told him the story, and Steve Perry said their loss, our gain, so Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain sat down and wrote the lyrics. They brought it to Neal Schon, the guitarist, and he hated it. He said it wasn't like their other music and the fans would hate it too, and he felt he wouldn't have much to contribute to it. Fans loved it though, and it was one of their biggest hits.

I believe Jonathan Cain had written the music/melody when he was with the Babys. He played it for Steve Perry and Perry loved it. Perry wrote the lyrics

The first concert I ever went to was Journey and I consider myself lucky to have seen them live - and hear this song. They all were so very, very good live -- and Steve Perry's voice just can't be topped. BTW, Jonathan Cain wrote the lyrics to the absolutely gorgeous "Faithfully." Anton, please react to Journey on The Midnight Special! You'll hear Steve sharing lead vocals with Greg Rolie (then keyboardist) on "Feelin' That Way" and "Anytime." So, so good! Have a great weekend!

Journey has ALWAYS been one of my favorite bands. So many amazing songs ❤️. Who's Crying Now, When The Lights Go Down in the City Send Her My Love, Lovin' Touchin Squeezin, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. to name just a few. I've been lucky enough to see them quite a few times in Chicago over the years ❤️

Can you react to Journey's song Little Girl? A little known gem with Steve Perry's platinum and diamond voice.

Yeah, guitarist Neal Schon is Journey's main songwriter, as well as essentially the band's founder since he's the only member who's been with Journey CONSTANTLY since the very start. I love how deceptively simple his songwriting is, it gives them a strong, solid base for them to build some truly great rock music on.

Steve Perry's voice is nothing short of amazing. Not my favorite of theirs, either. Faithfully, and Separate Ways (cheesy video and all!) are two of my favorites of theirs.

Perry, Cain, and Schon make Journey the “sum of it’s parts.” Individually they are amazing…but together they knock it out of the park. Same concept with Freddy, Brian, and Roger. Can’t compare tho-both bands very different. I will say that from a personal relationship standpoint, I think Journey was like a totally dysfunctional family. And frankly, Journey members were not loyal to one another….the band (even before Perry) back stabbed each other at the drop of a hat. Firing, hiring……no loyalty.

Ok so maybe you shouldn't react to ballads, and leave those reactions to people who love the "emotion" in Steve Perry's voice, because his fans, and Journey's fans love this song "Open Arms" that both Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain wrote. As well as many , many others along with Neal Schon not just Don't Stop Believin'.
