Journey from Yakutsk, The Coldest City in The World, to Lena Pillars
The next episode of the journey around Far East of Russia in 2021 is devoted to Yakutsk, the coldest city in the world, and Lena Pillars - one of the greatest landmark of the Yakutia, which is also known to be the largest country subdivision with the square of 3083523 km² (1190555 mi²). Everything seems to be "the most" in this remote part of Russia. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has dozens of incredible landmarks, and one of the most recognizable place of interest is Lena Pillars - rock formation on the bank of the Lena River. Having explored Yakutsk, I hitchhiked all the way to Lena Pillars, using boats at some stretches. Enjoy!

I'm Dutch, most villages here are within 5 km of another village. And in between will be farms. Paved roads everywhere. I would love to experience the vast emptiness of Russia. Like the people you got a lift from, switched from car to boat and then had to travel 200 km to their settlement. 200 km is two thirds of my country, I just can not imagine 200 km of pristine nature.

Certain parts of the US are the same way, you should check out Alaska if you want to see somewhere that’s like Russia without having to speak Russian or have a guide

@@Sniperboy5551 the way you stated it is incredibly sad . come to North America. We have the largest intact forest in the world.
The sheer size of many of those russian rivers is just unimaginable for a european like me

The Danube and Rhine Delta system aren't too bad in my opinion but I must admit the Lena is just wonderful. Especially the Delta, I would love to somehow be able to see it, however I fear there is no way that will ever happen. Maybe in a warm summer via the arctic ocean or a long drive in an arctic 4x4, the remoteness is extreme anyhow
I really like the pirate music during your ferry ride lol.
Lena is the longest river in Russia. The origin of the name of the Lena River is derived from the local word , meaning the ‘Large River’.

The Mississippi River in the USA is similar: Misi ("great") Ziibi ("river") in the Ojibwe language.
You're killing it bro! I'm happy for your channel's success!
Keep up the great work! Thanks for letting us travel along with you! Appreciate the explanation about the pipelines and homes built on stilts due to the permafrost! And wasCool to see the wooly mammoth 🦣 skeleton. Safe travels my friend! 🌍 👋
Thank you for letting us travel with you and see thing we would never get to see otherwise.
Far East Russia looks beautiful and really tough, hats off to the people who live there. Looks more hard arse than Alaska
I love it’s, very cool 😎 from Japan
Great adventure. Thanks for posting. I do feel a bit sad seeing that it was posted in 2021. Seems unlikely that a trip like this would be possible now.
Visiting yakutsk & lena pillars is definitely on my bucket list now, those places looks so serene, natural and calm
Thank you for showing us this landmark and your journey there 💖
Good to see that at least out in the wilderness people still help each other and like to talk. BTW: 200 km by boat? This is about half my country 😂
Thanks to you I’m visiting lots of places that I wouldn’t probably never visit. Your work is awsome! Thank you from Buenos Aires, Argentina. 🇦🇷

It's interesting how the architecture is different to accommodate the permafrost. Beautiful scenery

So wish to visit Sakha one day, great journey and video. Greetings from Finland
My middle name is Lena so I had to watch ^-^ Now I like it better 'cause it's the name of this beautiful river and the pillars ♪
Amazing
amazing
Love this video.
Wow, those pillars in the red evening sunlight reflecting in Lena river! Amazing! Wonder if you actually planned to spend a night at the pillars? Lena river is fucking huge. Just a few days ago I watched a video of Kaspersky going from Madagan to Yakutsk (and onwards) and they crossed the river on an ice road. Scary! But at -40 Celsius it's rock solid. Crazy to think that Yakutsk is a growing city when they have the coldest winters of pretty much anywhere in the world and only few months of summer.

@@rhodium1096Yes , you are right , it pays very well in such regions . People come to work not only Russians, but also from the former republics of the USSR. But there are few people willing to stay there. It is because of the very harsh climate .

Thank you for the journeys I got to see. As an American I see my brother's and sister's there !. We Americans love you !🇺🇸
This was very good video, i thought the pipes were above ground because it cost to much to put them underground. 👍🏆🏆

No, here is the matter of permafrost. If they were underground, they would create swamps around them because ice would start melting.
Shout out from Australia mate! Love your journey, thank you for sharing.
Looks a lot like the Mc Kenzie River in the NWT in northern Canada.
This looks like a very stressful trip to me. It is better to hire tour company or someone and pay for those services, it is worth it in my opinion so you can enjoy the journey.
Where I live, in the very south of Europe and the middle of the Mediterranean, the distance between islands is smaller than the width of the Lena. It being the most densely populated EU country (only Vatican City and Monaco are more densely populated European countries, and those are fringe cases anyway), it is an unimaginable contrast with the vast emptiness of Siberia. The impression I get from videos like these is that Russians are friendly and hospitable, even though relations between respective governments are more than a little frosty at the moment.
Are these the siberian traps? If so this is the aftermath of a volcanic eruption that ended 90% of all life 250 million years ago. Even now there is a mile of volcanic deposits sculpted into some of the most amazing geology on earth.
