I love mixed media collage and this is far and away my most favorite example I've ever seen anywhere. Watching this video broke me out of a 3 year long creativity drought - I finally started and finished a piece after watching this video many times. I appreciate your videos so much (I've watched hundreds of them since I stumbled on this one). I love all of them, but this collage is still my absolute favorite. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

In addition to being patient and so creative, you have a magical touch to assemble these unrelated images into gallery-worthy treasures. The colours and scale just flow beautifully like a sweet melody. What a treat to have watched you work.

My local library throws away their magazines at about 4 months old. They are free for the taking - they usually put them in a bin and actually never have to throw any away, because they are all taken fairly quick. It might be an option where you are located. Another option is waiting rooms of doctor & dentist offices. They usually throw them away after a few months. I would bet if it's your doctor/dentist office, the receptionist would let you take the oldest one or two they have on the tables.

I am new to art journaling and am so encouraged and inspired by watching you create this amazing collage! It is beautiful!

I love this..so beautiful. It's amazing the difference the graphite pencil shadowing makes. I know how you feel with having kids so far apart. Mine are ten years apart. Having the first that was a boy who later was diagnosed with autism, then a girl with no disability..it was completely new and different with each one.. I felt totally like I didnt know what I was doing with either one. lol..but it all works out in the end. Now they are 23 and 14..both are amazing kids.

I like that you do the watercolors at the end... so many times I see it at the beginning. This may actually help me to not stare at the proverbial blank page wondering where I'm going.

Thank you so much for bringing up the changes to KZread. I have been monetized for several years and now that is going to be taken away from me for no fault of my own. The only reason is I don’t have as many watch hours as I need. It’s really sad because I did nothing wrong. I loved using the money I got to buy supplies for my channel so I could continue to make better and better videos. I actually have a whole mixed media series planned for the year and product reviews planned for 2018 but I’m going to have to change my plan a little since I won’t be having the ad revenue coming in. It’s a good thing that mixed media doesn’t have to cost much 😊 Sorry wasn’t trying to take over or make a poor pitiful me comment. I just wanted to say thank you for bringing attention to it even when it doesn’t effect your channel. I already was a big fan and your big heart has made me an even bigger fan.

Maremi SmallArt thank you so much for your encouraging words. I plan on continuing to make videos because I absolutely love doing that. I trust that if I continue to put them out there and continually be true to myself and make videos that bring me joy I will be back where I need to be. At first I was very disappointed because it wasn’t anything I had done and it felt like a slap in the face, but after much reflection I have decided to just keep pushing forward.

Erica Henry colors - after reading your comment I immediately subscribed to you, and I will watch at least a little bit all the time. In the meantime, watch Phil deFranco. He is amazing! Honorable and helpful to the smaller influencers. He has a recent video with excellent advice. Jen loves reviews is also very good and watches out for the smaller influencers. She checks out videos recommended by her subscribers, and does regular shout outs for the decent ones. She is a beauty influencer, but not glamorous with nose in the air. She too is honest and honorable. I have been forwarding channels to her. Also check into ustream. But I will get the video of Phil deFranco and add it here. Don't give up, don't any of you give up. KZread is not going to be the only game much longer. People fight back against injustice, especially if it is the only one. You tube will not be the only one forever. Just hang on. Blessings❣

I have a question about the filler that you used as modeling paste. Is it an acrylic based filler? My first attempt at collaging was when I was in high school I did not know anybody who made collages and the only information I could find in reference books was that it involved gluing pieces of paper onto a board of some kind. So, I used poster board. I used a theme that was centered around the West or Southwest part of the US. We lived in southwest Ohio and early in our country's history, Ohio might have been considered 'The West'. My parents subscribed to a lot of magazines and two different newspapers. I clipped out pictures of what I thought would best represent the West. I did not have texture paste, stencils, stickers, or any thing else. I did have colored pencils, though. I cut out letters from magazines so that I could spell the words, 'Go West, young man, go West." It's been nearly 50 years since I graduated high school and I don't remember the little details of my collage project. But, I do know that it was not nearly at the same level as what you demonstrated in this video. I love what you did.

I did the same kind of collage project when I was in school. This is just a more artsy kind of collage. Any kind of glueing pieces of paper together is collage.

There is so many different types of putty. There's even polyvinylsiloxane (PVS) used in Dentistry, which is used in the mouth; also, can be painted. I guess anything goes in art.

Martha, that's exactly what I do, keep a small plastic container with water for the stencils so I won't have to stop and clean them all the time, and they won't dry as I work. Also keep a glass container (like an old cup of coffee, for my brushes 😊
