Didn't he have a similar speech at the end of part 1 where he says that Jonathan brought him to the peak of his fate.

I really like what they did with Dio and Jotaro's dynamic in this. Jotaro feels a lot more human, whereas in the anime, he's much more inflappable, especially in the death of Kakyoin. Dio also relies a lot more on his natural vampiric abilities in this take, mostly using The World to freeze time (love the usage of the word "freeze," btw) or match blows with Star Platinum. The OVA didn't pull any punches with the horrific aspects of Dio either, such as innocent bystanders getting caught in the crossfire. He not only swatted them aside like flies, he _reveled_ in it, knowing it made Jotaro angry. I love how it took itself a little more seriously than even Araki himself did, especially when Dio powers himself up from Joseph's blood and he _doesn't_ get that stupid green lipstick. It's nice that we got some actual music in this part, since the sound mixing in the original was oddly quiet, although some of the silence _did_ lend itself better to the horror of Dio's power, such as when time froze. Regardless, I still got chills when So No Chi No Sadame started playing right at that final confrontation.

i like how accurate the lighting and shading is.

I love how when Jotaro cant fully see in the frozen time its quiet and more like Dio’s teleporting, but when he starts to grasp it more and more he can see when it activates. Its also a nice touch how Dio is genuinely impressed with how Jotaro is improving how long he can move in frozen time

Later in the movie you see he broke his arm from that punch but it still shows how strong jotaro is even without star platinum

The anime fight was good, but the dialogue and combat exchanges between the two of them in the OVA plus the character and stand designs were magnificent

The timestop teleport is better, no sound, it makes it scary

"it looks like your stand ain't all it's cracked up to be" is so raw

Seeing the outside perspective of Dio just popping in and out of place while stopping time is spooky

I find it utterly terrifying that for the majority of the second round, once Dio has Joseph's blood, he barely uses his Stand to fight Jotaro and relies almost entirely on pure physical might. There is the argument that he's supplementing it with The World, but it's still dope as hell seeing him directly fighting Star Platinum.

You know what's even worse? When you are the one lagging and the opponent can use some really powerful move that's easily dodged, but right now you are just lagging and staying like a statue. I guess that's how Jotaro feels

The 90s arstyle was a masterpiece

I really like the OVA, it played into the underlying horror of JoJo better than the Anime. And the animation doesn’t really bother me since, this is an OVA, it isn’t the finished product and it’s just an idea of what may come.

OVAs usually are given to popular subjects that aren’t getting the full series treatment but also not getting the full movie treatment as well (90s wise.) Some def used it as a jumping off point, this might of just been because JoJo got big around the time to test the waters as well. But without araki’s style a lot of people would be turned off. Personally I’m not this is fine even though I prefer Araki’s more stylized crazy stuff.

I love OVA fight more, because they show how what was must happened: Dio starting from deadly move, revealing his ability showed better, and the both show their power using environments (tower what DIO throw, not the world! People what Dio killing, Jotaro breaks the lid of the bus and the tower (yes, the bus is not the best example)) I think if it was possible to combine anime and OVA battle would be PERFECT!

Dios old hairstyle fit the 100+ year old vampire theme so much better

AWWWW YEAHHH IT’S THE DUB! I love these old school anime dubs, like Dragon Ball Z and Fist of the North Star. Dio is amazing, yet Jotaro is particularly great here too.

this is so scary, this is really good horror, it gives me goosebumps, and the worst of it is so much more better than the 2016 version

A good way for me to describe how i feel about it is that the anime feels like it is a 1 to 1 adaptation of the manga keeping almost every detail and that translates weirdly at some points. Meanwhile the ova feels like how live action adaptations are done where some stuff is changed to save time. However both keep the spirit of the manga very well.

I love how in the OVA that in the final round, it’s basically a 2v1 of The World and Dio vs Star Platinum. I love how much Dio does separately from his stand, I love that they make Dio actually look strong

DIO’S “ahhh” hits different

I liked this more!! They really did good! They actually made on screen innocent deaths during this fight!! I also loved sono chi no sadame still given the recognition! Its like saying "remember! Its JOJO!" Tho jotaro's theme is good too, i really love calling back the past as even part 2 did that with Joseph and Kars. I loved part 2's ending because of that. This wins too!

The brevity of Dio as a legitimate threat against Jotaro really shines in this version! I like how all the fights were in the anime; but the final battle matters just as much! And I luv how they did it in the ova so much better!

Comparing the 2013 remake to this spectacle of an OVA, I can gladly say this fight was much more entertaining. The dialogue for both the sub and dub were well performed and extremely raw. Also i'd like to point out how the remake added way more stand fights than the user actually doing their own thing. Thanks for posting the only dubbed version on YT!

Well.....not really. Every version of DIO and Jotaro Kujo have the same capabilities, potential, and power. Every version may seem different but that's due to presentation. The modern anime was meant for more general consensus of the manga and the OVA was to show the possible potential of what could be demonstrated between each other (Like SP throwing the building or DIO killing the people on the trolley). Same foundation, different lenses.

I'm just gonna say it. Dio is way more terrifying in this animation style. Especially when he just vanishes and reappears, or his eyes are glowing like that! Fucking scary!
