Could you talk about the Army-Navy game? I know it might not be best for views but this year it’s going to be a very interesting game considering the loser will end up below .500. Also, thanks for covering my Ok State Cowboys! Go Pokes and Go Army!

JP...nailed it. We'd love to win every egg bowl but rivalries just dont go that way. Teams used to leave starkville knowing they were in a war. Now lets hope that feeling sticks and they also wonder what the hell happened on that scoreboard.

It appears our Sippie kids are naturally built for defense. That is the blue collar side of the ball, I suppose. They will always be tough there. The offensive side takes that special guy with creativity.

While I have my reservations about the hire for a variety of reasons, I will so I always appreciate your take on State as it pertains to the fan base. You are spot on. Only a few of those "out there" expect a championship. The vast majority of us simply want to get to bowl games. Win 7-8 games on average. Maybe a 6 win season pops up. But every half decade or so we should flirt with a 9 or 10 wins. Win 2 of 3 Egg Bowls. And make teams dread playing a physical style game. That is it. Blue collared, tough football. Doesn't have to win a championship. You described the vast majority of State fans perfectly.

There is a lot of hype around Jackson Arnold as the starter for OU next year. Seems almost natural for DG to take his services to Miss State. Boomer

The "FIT" will occur in the programs of Miss. State and Lebby. No where else. When those two concur, wins on the field? Yeah. But losses will not push him or State from the table either. I bet even money they will not be a 60% team either but Better! Josh, you can poke fun at the word "FIT" all you want. But everyone in here knows that Oklahoma, Ucla. USC, LSU, Gainesville and even the beloved Notre Dame are all twice that of Miss. State and Ole Miss. a lot of D2 schools are bigger and have more and better community offers with larger collective bargaining chips to throw out for incentives. Starkville and Oxford just absolutely does not have anything to offer the magnitude of player help, and coaches these other schools have. The new facilities at ATM, alone, can buy half the state of mississippi. He will have to work with an occasional 4-5 star some 3 stars and a bunch of 1-2 stars. If they have stars at all. His "FIT" will be right there. Dan M. Had it. He was a FIT at Mississippi State. Dan Mullen was NOT A FIT in Gainesville. That was strictly money. Period. Can Lebby work with less and accomplish what Mike Leach set out to accomplish (RIP)? Can he pull off a Dan Mullen? If he does, he will be bought on the money trade to go elsewhere. And he will not work out elsewhere, if, if he pulls it off where there is less...much less. The "Wins" in of themselves are not the cornerstones of North/Central Mississippi Football. Wanted and needed? Absolutely. But you can not sell these two programs three feet from an oak tree. Key Largo. Sunset Bar & Grill, Muscle Beach, Overall nightlife, facilities, abundance of resources, even to life follow-thru-programs etc. etc. do not match up with the 401k at the next 100 schools. So yeah, FIT..that another tier 5 or even 10, coach would not touch. Two successful season's, if a third season and he is highly successful he will be hired out. And will not fit.

As an OU fan, this is the best case scenario. Lebby wasn't, in my opinion, great at all this year. He was too good to justify a firing, but also not good enough to win 10 or 11 games a year. Very happy for the promotion, and wish him the best of luck.

I agree. OU's offense may look great on paper but the losses to Kansas and OSU were because of Jeff Lebby. He became way too conservative in clutch-time situations and didn't seem like he knew how to utilize the talent at OU. Happy to see him go.
