Actually, I’d like to rescind my statement. A&M plays a fairly easy schedule with all of their toughest games at home. This is a much bigger swing game than I could have imagined. I don’t think Riley Leonard is all that great, so if he has a poor showing, ND is suddenly questioning everything whereas A&M will be saying “why not” with their schedule

Biased cuz I’m an Auburn fan but Oklahoma at Auburn feels like a huge one. Both have a good chance of being 4-0. First SEC road test for Oklahoma. Could be a huge turning point for Auburn if they win that one and start 5-0 going into Georgia or huge for Oklahoma as they play Texas the following week. Assuming they both start the season strong this would be a huge turning point for either team.

I genuinely think Tennessee at Oklahoma is one of the biggest swing games this season. It’s early in the season, and if UT takes it, they’re going to be playing Bama undefeated and with a revved up roster hot on the Nico train- and if they take our Bama (which is a genuine possibility in the atmosphere of Neyland stadium), then they’re likely going undefeated into Georgia and making the playoffs whether or not they win that game. If Oklahoma takes it, they start out their SEC play (because yes, it’s their first SEC game) with a huge statement, knocking off the team led by Josh Heupel, their former National Champion QB, and Nico Iamaleava, the current most anticipated QB walking into this season. They would be setting up very nicely for future matchups with that kind of momentum, and I think they have the staff and the fan atmosphere to do it. One of the most underrated swing games this season in my opinion. I feel confident saying the winner of that one will go on to earn a playoff spot and be a genuine threat.

2:25 "Nebraska may be favored in all eight games before they play this one [Ohio State] in Week 9." No offense, but Nebraska plays _seven_ games before they face Ohio State, not _eight._ 1) UTEP, 2) Colorado, 3) Northern "Irate", 4) Illinois, 5) Purdue, 6) Rutgers, 7) Indiana. Ohio State is their 8th game. The extra week is 10/12 when they have a bye. I agree watching the Big12 is very entertaining.

Michigan Texas week 2. Most are assuming Michigan will be taking a big step back while Texas gets better. Even though they both lost roughly the same amount of production. Sure, Michigan has a new coach, but also had the deepest team in the country last year and rotated players at almost every position all game with little to no drop in production. Meaning, the "backups" had almost as much playing time as the starters and their experience level is much higher than what allears on paper. As of now, michigan is a 2.5 dog at home. What's the narrative going to be if michigan wins? My guess is that if it's close, the narrative will remain almost unchanged with the additions of it being an out of conference game that doesn't matter, Texas was on the road early in the season so it doesnt mean anything, and a few other "reasons" their preseason predictions weren't wrong. But what if michigan wins big or in dominating fashion? That's when things would get real interesting, and we'd get to see some people struggling to somehow keep Texas at the top of the pile while somehow discounting what michigan did. If Texas wins, small or big, then of course the game not only matters, but is a huge deal. We'll be hearing things like Texas will win the SEC and NC, while michigan is losing 3 or 4 or more, and missing the playoffs.

  • @positroll7870

Don't think UM losing to Texas would tell us much, though. Michigan has not only a new Qb, but also a totally new OL. Very talented rising seniors, mostly, plus 2 older players, yet they might need a few weeks to gel for Michigan's run first offense to really click. I expect that line to be great by mid season, but they easily could lose Michigan the Texas game, without that saying much for the B1G championship...

  • @scottd1903

@positroll7870 It tells us that Texas is the real deal and a legit NC competitor. I know most already seem to believe they are that, but I'm not one of them. I think Texas is being overrated, and they're not even as good as they were last year. I also think michigan is being slightly underrated. So if Texas wins on the road, it's a bigger accomplishment than they'll likely get credit for. I guess it won't matter though since they're already being ranked so high, but it should. If Texas wins, the worst they do is 10-2, but could easily go 11-1 or possibly 12-0 with an upset over Georgia. If they lose, I think the best they do is 9-3, but 8-4 is equally likely. Both scenarios probably keep them out of the playoffs.

What about Clemson vs. Georgia. First game, Clemson probably has about a 25% chance. If Clemson wins, they have a marquee win and might be a lock for a playoff spot…and it could serve as that weasel Dabo’s statement that he’s still a championship caliber coach. One more good but not great year and I think we can kick him to the curb. If Georgia loses, we’d have to ask where the bottom is on their season. They penciled in (at worst) this W vs. Clemson, and now are staring at @Texas, @Alabama, @Ole Miss and a potentially very good Tennessee with a loss on the ledger. That game could decide who’s in and who’s out when we take inventory at the end of the season, so it’s an enormous swing game
