Qualifying:
We had a damp qualifying for this meet, which was something as it was due for the heavens to be opening according to the forecast. We set the car up for what we thought would be a good damp set up, but it was bouncing all over the shop, and with a good handful of understeer too. Regardless of this I still managed to get the car into 3rd place, knocking on the door of Steven Grays time. Jim Deans got a blinder and put himself onto pole.
Race 1:
There were a few STs to contend with off the start. I got a pretty decent start and was in the same situation as last meet, round the outside of Duffus. Fortunately I got down unscathed, not so much for Steven Gray though! A coming together with Andy Christie down Duffus put them both off the track. Not my place to comment on what happened as I was not involved, but I would say the video speaks a thousand words in this case.
This incident put me up to 2nd place and I was on it after Jim Deans. I was gaining hand over foot, but a few decisions on line choices which were the wrong ones hampered my progress. Steven Gray got past me up the straight, which has told me what I need to do for the next meet, which didn't end up getting done for this one. I managed to hold on until the end of the race, but didn't manage to capitalise on anything.
My fastest time during the race was the fastest I've ever gone in the XR2 I believe, 1.04:3 which I was happy with! But I know there is so so much more in it with one change that will be happening for sure before next meet.
Finished 1st in Newcomers and 3rd overall.
