For me, it’s one of the most iconic pics in skateboarding history. It encapsulates everything about Kalis and that era, in one sequence. Congrats Josh. You’re a living legend.

Literally same setup, flip, catch and land, just 20 years later. Amazing. Love hearing boarders i grew up with say they still got it. Awesome. Skate4life.
Just legend nothing more to say... that 2nd 3-6 flip was better 20 years after just like good wine!

Then two years later they both fell down and no one knows how but everyone thinks they know. I'm sure there are some who fully know and those who were/are responsible for that tragedy are either dead or alive and may just know and may just not care and we just smell the flames and fear in the air.
He hasn't aged in 20 years! He looks the exact same as back then. He doesn't look like any 43 year old I've ever seen.

I had an older brother and his first video was the OG alien workshop video. I was so young and still remember josh kalis sticking out to me even though his part was so short. I always wanted to emulate him as a skateboarder from there on out.
Legend my bro, I named my daughter after you, her names kali, been my favourite skater ever since man, big ups for this one
This is insane. I've loved Kalis' skateboarding since the ol days. Got to meet him at DC Skate Plaza back in 2005 and totally geeked out. Nothing but respect for one of the best and most stylish to do it.

@@Titoburritobandito I live like 5.5 hours away, so it was quite a trek back then. Went 2 years in a row. Place was incredible. Random pros just skating by you at any minute. Was so surreal. Those ledges got so rounded off in such a small amount of time. I remember how smooth the concrete was. Was fun just cruising.

He caught the new one better. U make are generation proud, but u knew u had it!!
Damn seeing him do it again felt refreshing
I can't help smiling the whole way through this!!! Hell Ya Josh!!!!
Goosebumps and a big smile on my face. Kalis is BOSS!
That was great. Kalis's style has always been sick, in terms of trick choice, clothing choice, shoe design, music in his parts, and, obviously, how he throws down tricks. I remember skating his signature model shoe for the first time, back in the late 90s. First day I had them on, I was skating in Frankfurt, Germany on a family trip (I'm from Bay Area, CA). I discovered these 3 granite planter boxes in a downtown plaza (there was an underground section that had a skate shop called Boardslide in it). I felt dope in those shoes, and I ended having one of the best and most memorable ledge sessions of my life that day: pop-shuvit bs crook, bs noseblunt, switch bs tail, fakie 5-0, switch bs nosegrind revert, halfcab nosegrind revert, fakie switch fs crook, nollie flip noseslide, nollie fs nosegrind, kflip bs tail, bs 180 fakie 5-0, nollie 180 switch bs crook, ... I threw it all down within like an hour and a half, while my parents and brother were walking around town. Some of the local dudes just sat on their boards, watched, and even cheered me on a bit. I'll never forget that session, and how dope life seemed to be back then. I think I was 18 at the time; I'm now almost 40. In the end, it was dudes like Kalis who inspired me each and every day, who gave me that burning passion for skateboarding that completely took over my adolescence. I wish that dream of skateboarding, and the carefree years of youth, never died. Thank you, Josh. Thank you for being a role model to so many of us. I’ve seen you in vids here and there over the years, and, in addition to being a top-notch skater, I can see that you’re also a really cool guy.

Damn that's a wall of text, I'd need a kicker to Tre flip it
Throw way back.. 33 years old & Kalis is the literal archetype that formed my tre’s at 14.The kicker over the trash can specifically. Love skating, love skaters, never truly tamed. Live good, real good.
I'm almost 37. The mid 90s through about 2006 was my hey day. I miss the heck out of it sometimes. Occasionally I'll get my cup sole DVS on and my popwar board out and play around.
1999 was the year I started skating. That iconic tre flip over the can was on my wall for years. Josh Kalis is an Icon. Absolute legend. Without him and his Philly crew my love for East Coast skating wouldn't have been the same as a kid in the 00s.
Went higher and longer in 2019’ I have vivid memories of Kalis skating in Ann Arbor with the invisible team in 93

Wow thats early kalis
Wow. This was simply amazing. So much nostalgia. I think I even shed a tear or two thinking back to simpler times. Anyway, Kalis' 360 flip over the can was so sick in '99, and it's even more sick in '19. This was an absolute pleasure. The feel good moment of the year. Thanks for posting this. "And if you don't know, now you know."
Simply AMAZING, 20 years on 43 years old and still killing it, still making a valid contribution to skateboarding and skateboard media, still inspiring the current and next generations. Big up!
I'm 33 and I came up watching Photosynthesis everyday before I went skating. I'm going skating today. Fuck yeah. That's so dope.
Twenty years to the year
Grew up watching Kalis in the 90s and 00s and he was legendary. Backside noseblunt down the orange barrier - that's like the greatest skateboarding picture of all time. So cool to see him replicate his OG trick as an aging dude. Much respect to the man.

Dope! Always loved watching Kalis skate. I remember seeing this in 99, at 19 yo! Miss the mid to late 90’s
Kalis OG👑Love park❤the profile in the DC Video with Gangstarr -Full clip is the best that can be!!! A living LEGEND👑👑👑. I've been watching this profile for twenty years!!! From Russia with love!!
The way he was trying that trick on that specific area with all that background story, what a damn way to put some meaning on a tiny place on Earth, cool ass stuff
43 yrs old and still locking it down
Dayummm. Shows how strong your body gets from skateboarding. What a legend!
It's all good josh you still have plenty of fans from before '99. I'm one of them
20 years later. mad props I remember watching this when it launched
Tre flip like WOAH!! Damn, so sick man. I would get hyped on his DC part all the time. Beautiful tre
Bravo Josh you are the boss ☺️♥️
Wtfffff!!! The landing was the same!!! Legend!!!
Congrats josh 👊 Penny is a great filmer ! Keep philly alive homies🙌
Iconic
Thanks for challenging yourself all these years later Josh. I had the original sequence in my room for years.
KING KALIS!!! Roll on 4ever Josh
One of the best to ever do it. and for a longer period of time than most skaters, like, there are very few skaters that were pro in '99 that are still pro in 2020.
This is so sick! I got chills watching that....so clean too!
Best of all time period
So awesome. Those things are huge
Respect Josh nicely done!!!!
Gave me chills❄❄❄
The best vid ive seen in skating for a lonnnnng ass time 👊👊👊

99 was incredible year for skating... This vid made me smile... Definitely felt that joy in my heart.
Big respect!!
Amazing
no words to describe. GOAT
I miss the 90s
Hell yeah!!! They looked identical 20 years apart... beautiful! I had that poster and the LOVE PARK noseblunt poster... right in front of the sign.
That swag is timeless
Best tre flip in the game, that 99' photo is iconic
Still got it😎😅 kalis is a legend
Goosebumps
so dope! we need a side by side of the clips playing at the same time. that would be sick.
Much respect, Josh Kali’s is a true stake Fiend
It was executed exactly the same! His back foot landed further back this time but the tre flip, his movement through the air, and that landing were identical. What a legend. Glad to say I've been able to skate with him before in 2003.
That's insane, legendary. Can't wait at 63, maybe he'll do it even better. Kalis is a fine wine.
Fuckin legend Josh Kalis... love your fuckin style in all ways... love seeing legends still kill it... LOVE this
43 !!!!! LEGEND !! 🔥
😭🙏🏻 this profile was my inspiration for long time
Hell Yeah! that 2nd one was even better than in 99!

good lord. to land that 20 years later is one of the sickest things I've ever seen or heard about.
I'm glad that DC has paid respect to Kalis man he deserves it.

You're never too old
I turn 43 this year and just started skating more again after being lazy the last 10 years, this is inspiring to say the least! Yeah Kalis!
